I'm definitely on the Schaefer train, but part of why Martone is interesting to the Sharks is that he's a RW. The Sharks have a ton of LW and very few RW in their system, so he'd shore that up a bit. He also has a higher ceiling than Chernyshov. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about Chernyshov but I wouldn't be upset if we ended up with Martone.

Hi JD...unrelated to this video, but have you heard things like the top-50 or top-30 players in this draft don't seem to be as strong as in other drafts, and that next year's draft is deeper? Do you get a similar sentiment from the scouts you talk to?

Lol! We figured out the goalie conundrum! Hahaha. Many of us forget he is very young (22) for a goalie prospect getting NHL experience and he has not played very many games in the NHL, as you stated. The ups and downs are normal. I agree, time in the AHL would not be a bad thing for Asky, and having the Cuda make a long run in the playoffs would be a great thing for the other prospects.
Looking forward to getting more information on Chernyshov as I really liked the pick in last season's draft. With him being one of the most NHL ready prospects in the draft, due to his experience in the KHL, it would be great to see him in the AHL, like you have surmised.
What a thought for next season with the Cuda. A mixture of Thompson, Cagnoni, Furlong, Romanov, Cardwell, Bystedt, Musty, Hatlunnen, Graf, Mukhammadullin and Chernyshov (among others) is going to be fun to watch.
Not to mention other prospects like Pohlkamp or say Lund make their pro debuts.
I am curious to see if any of Bordeleau, Robins or Gushchin will be back next season. Thoughts?

A lot of goalies are in the NHL by 22, I wouldn't say it's "very young". Hopefully he follows a similar development curve to Dustin Wolf, where he struggled last year and is very good this year.

      Good call there on Wolf.

Two of the goals against Askarov were just flukes or horrible (lack of) defensive coverage. As of 30 January, this team leads the NHL in # of games played at 54. Two teams have only played 49 games (Kings and Preds). The team needs this 4 day break mentally and physically.

Dont think Askarov lost his confidence. He’s a competitor so thats the look of someone being upset with the results. His defense plays like crap every night. This show should be labeled “Defense struggles yet again” not “Askarov struggles”

If Askorav is sent down for the remained of the year will that preserve his “rookie” status for next year’s awards?

If he plays another 8 or fewer games, he's still a rookie for next season.

Defense stinks, goaltending stinks and the offense may have some bright spots but they still can’t score more than 2 goals a game. Tough to watch.

As you said- poor Askarov. Another awful lost because of Warsofsky. Guy has no playing system both in offense and defense. And obviously has no clue what he’s doing and repeating the same things every interview. Literally Quinn with AHL team did comparable results to Warsofsky who has players like Celebrini, Toffoli, Walman etc. I liked him when Grier hired him but he should absolutly fire him and hire some better coach.

@@taylorkearney8197 Maybe it's not as dramatic, but results are nearly equal to last year, so the coach is in part responsible. But it still feels like Warso gets one more year.

@@touchedbyasongThe coach is responsible for all those games we were up in the 3rd and just gave it away? No, the system works when the PLAYERS work. The defense is what is lacking
