By the way at the game last night they played a video where someone (I think Liljegren) picked a New Year's resolution for Mario Ferraro and it was for Ferraro to wear socks with his skates, so there's a new example for you to use now that Merkley's playing in Russia.

This was a game between a well coached team and a poorly coached team. Sharks continue to have poor defensive structure and are constantly missing assignments. And for the love of god please stop starting Fourgiev Edit: I know we can’t play Askarov every night but Philly is probably the weakest team we’ve played in weeks. This is a game you start Askarov against. So now what we’re gonna start him against Tampa? Make it make sense.

Fourgiev's soft goals will make any team give up fighting. We've seen it with the Avs. He's a confidence killer.

There are too many 4th liners and 3rd pairing guys -- not enough high end talent. Everyone sees and knows it. Those vets have trade value, but it will be ugly (and moments of wow) if you go all youth.

They need a leader on the ice. I still dont even know what is wrong with Logan Couture and I have researched it multiple times. Where is this dude? Where is this teams leader? Celebrin can be it but he is only 18. I doubt he would feel comfortable telling grown men what to do and to man up. But man, these guys need some more guys with some motivation. Edit: Georgiev is cooked.

@LockedOnSharks thanks for replying. That's all I can see or find is that he has a hip issue, but it's not clear or specific or very informative. I feel bad for Celebrini. The kid is a winner and competitor. Losing takes a toll on a young guy like that. Someone has to step up and take charge, and as the coach said, show some desperation.

Giants are a “factory of sadness” in Bay Area sports right now… lmao, pretty accurate description. Even tho the Sharks are the 2nd-to-last, or dead last, team in the nhl right now, and the Giants are like the 15-20th best team in the mlb…. The Sharks are much closer to winning a championship than the Giants. The Sharks have a clear direction, with a clear plan, with what’s looking like one of the *best* GM’s in the league… while the Giants are scuttling around aimlessly with no discernible plan, no direction, no stars on the team, stuck in the middle lane for the last 6+ years, NOT rebuilding *and* NOT competing for the playoffs, spinning their wheels going nowhere. I’d bet good $ that the Sharks make the Stanley cup finals *before* the Giants make the World Series. Which is crazy, considering the Sharks picked 1st overall last draft, 4th overall the draft before that, and 7th overall 2 drafts before that. That’s how bottom-of-the-league they’ve been the last 4 years. And yet, they are on a beautiful trajectory.. a much better trajectory than the Giants. I’m hoping Buster Posey ends up being as good a GM/pobo as Mike Grier is already. It’s *way* more exciting watching the last place Sharks right now than the 15th place Giants. Weird but true. A factory of sadness.. yup, that’s the SFG. Please 🙏 Buster Posey -> be like Mike!! Turn the SFG around and make us fans as excited to watch the Giants as we are to watch the Sharks right now!

I’m personally high on Lund, makes the right plays on a bad Northeastern team. Could maybe be a 3-4c although I think the 4c is probably gonna be someone like svoboda. If we keep smith and Celebrini together, bystedt could honestly be a 2c but I think we take sum1 in the draft to be a 2c. Was high on havelid but his stock dropped the last season or so, still upside there.

Team is gonna suck until they rid themselves of the four 6/7th defensemen they ice every night. Pretty sure this is mostly by design as the rebuild is still in full swing. There's going to be another season and a half of growing pains hockey. To be honest, they are much better this year than I had thought they were going to be. The games are close and semi competitive. This year will be the most successful bottom 5 finish in Sharks history.

Sharks need to continuine developing and drafting talent. Then sign a free agent or two that can score. Orher teams just have more talent. Sharks are getting closer. Quentin Musty needs to make it to the Barracuda at a minimun next year.

Despite the fact that Askarov stood on his head, it seemed like he was having difficulty tracking the puck at times. The fact that he had such a great performance despite not having his A+ game was really impressive to me.

  • @StevenPalmer-cs5ix

Given the recent goalie signings and pending salary cap increase Blackwood got a fair contract. I expect GM Grier is offering a max 3 year term to whoever will back up Askarov after this season. I find it interesting that more often than not, the Sharks outshoot their opponent in the 2nd period at home.

Yea you guys will be a contender in a few years as long as your front office makes decent decisions and builds around Celebrini and some of the other young players you guys have . I wouldn’t worry too much about these losses. Good defensive play and ability to hold leads comes with experience and young players will learn that over time. But that offense is already looking impressive . It’s gonna be scary in a few years when you also are able to defend and hold leads . I’m excited for you guys.
