i have the same issue. oil all over the connector. When i wipe the connector it goes away for about a day then back to the issue. do i need to replace both intake connector and solenoid?
What if i changed throttle body to a new one and engine variable timing solenoid but engine still shakes and turns off and power reduced still pops off but engine turns off what can it be?
You have to get scanned for trouble codes in order to figure out what direction you need to take. I wouldn't change parts because of symptoms without checking for codes first.
If I have oil on the connector that means the solenoid is bad ? I recently swapped the same one on my 2018 Malibu and it’s still leaking oil onto the connector
If oil is getting through the connector that means the solenoid is letting some of the oil pressure get through. And therefore it can't be a good part. Make sure you're using an AC Delco brand.
Is the intake and exhaust solenoid the same for the 1.5L engine ? I have 2018 malibu ls and my intake connector has oil my exhaust good. Just want to know if it’s the same solenoid
@@Repairsbyctop As a matter of fact, I'm going over there this evening to pull any codes it gives me. I only have a blue driver to read codes, but I can check the solenoids for oil while I'm there too. It's my daughters car, so it's a bit of a drive to get at it. Thank you for checking up! Really kind of you! The car overall has been a little temperamental, not a fan of needy vehicles, but kids can only afford what they can afford lol.
my car got put in limp mode (reduce engine power) and read the same code but sometimes it goes away and comes back. the plug doesn’t have any oil on it
@@JenziG could be different things honestly for me sadly was a head gasket leak. quickest way to find out if u got it is take off the oil cap and if it smells sweetish and has gooey oil it’s head gasket leak
I had the p0011 code on my Malibu and the the intake one that I checked had oil but the other one didn’t, does that mean I need my intake valve replaced? (Sorry I’m clueless when it comes to cars 😩)
Really appreciate this!! Super helpful video

The solenoid is not good if there's oil in the connector.

You only need to replace the solenoid.
My 2018 Malibu has the same problem same vvt I changed it twice in 1 month period it’s bad again oil on the connector what is causing this
Did you get them from the dealership?
@@Repairsbyctopno from oreilly but today I got delco brand hopefully that’s it
@@RepairsbyctopI replaced it with Delco brand today hopefully it fixes the issue

The shop changed oil and the light come on, is it related
You have to get the car scanned to see what the code is.
Sorry for the late reply.
@@Repairsbyctop this code is p0010

What If I broke the red lock on it what kinda damage
That's like a secondary lock.
It'll still hold without it.
If they both have oil and i change both solenoids and sensors should everything else be okay?
If they both have oil, then both are losing pressure through the sensor connector. I would change them both, clear the codes and go from there.

Yes sir.
Thanks I replaced it . I bought it at the dealership n swapped it myself. Now I have to drive it a lil bit until I can go do the emissions test.

We don't have emissions test here in Florida.

I have this too so I need to replace the solenoid not the sensor right?
Is there oil inside of the connector?
@@Repairsbyctop yeah so I got the same code and oil on the connector I’ll clean it and the engine light will go away for a day than come back
Yo have to replace it.
The oil gets in the connector because the solenoid is leaking (isn't holding the pressure).

It's probably the brand that you're using if you didn't get it from the dealership.
Would turning over but not starting be a symptom?
I don't think so.
Sounds like a fuel delivery Or no spark issue.
@@Repairsbyctop that's whut I was figuring, but we have gotten it to start and run, but then dies.

Did you get it scanned for codes?
Did you unplug the solenoid and check for oil in the connector?

Did reduced power come on when this code was thrown? P0011 code on mine.
No!
There was only the code for the sensor.
A dirty throttle body could cause a reduced power situation.
Mine had oil in the connector. Hope this fixes the issue
Oil in the connector means that the oil pressure is getting through the sensor.
So do I replace sensor or connector if oil is on connector
