Placement of CPU and RAM .. never noticed before 😅
The new motherboard design...🙂
Sturdiness, overall a very clean inside. Lots of little things like the clips for the bottom. The amount of space for the trackpad. I liked the better thermal for the cover by it being slightly thicker, absorbs more heat and maybe coil whine (lol). Yeah, good design, except.... the single nand ssd and only 8gb unified. But, hey more power to them, this is not my machine.
Don't you do a giveaway this time?
Nice disassembly. You never disappoint
I was waiting for this tear down and you did not disappoint. Thank you!
Hey guys, just wondering why you decide to do a teardown first before any benchmarking? Wouldn't that add a variabile which could affect your end results?
Takes less time to make the 1st video, lets people know if they should upgrade the storage.
Keep in mind they had to wait to get their hands on one just like the rest of us.
They might have done that first in case they destroyed the computer. They are just releasing this first.
No need to wonder. They were not included as early reviewers as Apple did not provide them with a review unit. The embargo for early reviewers was lifted yesterday and most of them already have benchmarks. That's why they opted to be first with the teardown. Great strategy.
Usually they buy several models/configurations anyway so not a problem.
That’s how this channel role and I like it.
Great job! Cannot get more real world than this. Very “insightful”. You guys are used to it, but every time you do a tear down of a MacBook, my heart is in my mouth. Keep up the good work.
So glad you’ve already got them in and ready to do a great video, especially for us impatient Apple enthusiasts. I mean, the very day they are available, you’ve got them in! If that isn’t serious passion for what you do, I don’t know what is.
Seriously thanks for all you do!!
Fascinating insights, thank you 😊
Interesting that they changed the motherboard just for the speakers…
A marvelous piece of engineering, this new MBA😮
Love these teardowns. The NAND split, or lack thereof, is always really interesting to me. Even though 1TB is my go-to, recommending lower storage configurations is definitely enhanced with the knowledge provided. Thanks!
"I have waited for years for a 15" MacBook Air!!"
> finally gets said MBA after years of waiting
> instantly tears it down
😅
To me it feels kinda insane that for 1299 we still don’t get 512 ssd as base storage. Great video as always keep up the good work 🎉
I mean, it is from Apple after all. They had the balls to sell wheels for 700 😂
@@Qwty163 Apple likes people to think they are selling luxury products. That's why they release stuff like that or the stand for 1000$. Macbook Air is a consumer product. An expensive one but still. 256GB base storage in 2023 should be illegal and charging 200$ for 8gb of ram or 256gb of storage is just milking their customers to be honest. I have a base macbook air and I'm happy with it but the next laptop i am buying probably won't be an Apple one
@@georgestafylopatis8938 agreed, and I get hilarious looks from people when I tell them I got a laptop with 512gbSSD with a GTX-1650 and a ryzen 5, for $599.
@@Qwty163 My fully spec Legion 7 with 32GB and 2TB with a 3080ti was only $1350.
@@Qwty163 With that said I'm getting a Macbook Air or Pro.
I've been eagerly awaiting this review, Max Tech. You always do great tear downs and thorough testing, so thanks for taking the time to make great content! ❤👍
Just don’t mention the constant and boring leaks and you’re bang on with your feedback
I was looking for your review but it was a teardown, as usual the video is the best, and I am looking forward to you gays putting the new air to its limit
And now begins the round of thorough reviews I've been eagerly waiting.
Awesome thanks was waiting to see this teardown to decide what version to buy. Thanks. Hope thermal throttle takes longer to kick in 🤞
Ahhh im waiting for you're Review and Real Life Performance Tests. Greetings from Germany !
Thanks alot iv been waiting for this.
Vadim sounds like he can't wait and is SUPER excited to do the bench testing tomorrow! 😁😜
Great teardown. I am just amazed about the effort they put into the design. Worried at the same time for repairability. Do you think it is more resistant to water damage?
Amazing architecture for the new air model. Simply superb. Thank you for your great great video. Amazing.😃😃
@MaxTechOfficial Hey, Max! I watch your videos regularly. You're doing a commendable job, bro. Very few RUclipsrs go into the teardown and explain each and every detail of the device (even the minutest), so vividly. Thanks!
Let's go Max Tech!
Do you have any plans to show a comparison of performance between the MacBook Pro M1 Ultra and the MacBook Pro M2 Ultra?
Great video as always, am looking forward to seeing the Mac Studio review.
Great video guys🔥
Can you do a MacBook Air 15” vs MacBook Pro 14” comparison video?
Max looks so chill in this video, it made me think of vacation :,)
always love the teardown
Your reviews are the ones I'm waiting on! Need to see that single chip 256ssd performance compared with other models, even against the m1 air!
It's half the speed.
yessssssss , was waiting for these series to come
]
Hey Max! When you do the M2 Mac Studio review can you please let us know if you hear coil whine? Wondering if Apple fixed the problem. Thanks!
Cool video. Thanks. Could you please make a size comparison of 13 Air, 14 pro and 15 Air? 3 macs on the table to check the difference)))
I'm amazed simply how apple finds new ways to make their product irreparable.
It's a helpful reminder to not support them
I liked the fast unboxing and woow.. What a light😍😍
How would look like the teardown videos for the vision pro?
Thanks a lot!
The price drop on the M1 Mac Studio models finally got me to buy one. I now need a 4K display before I can start it up and move to it.
Thanks for breakdown. Bought 16" M1 after seeing your vlog in Nov 2022. Love screen size & speakers. Stays cool without fans turning on. 15" would be good for travel
Is there enough room for 2 usb c / as card a slot at the right side of the body ?
On a side note, I hope that benchmarks were ran first rather than taking it apart first. I say this as once that CPU was lifted it will never perform how it did from the factory. It could do better or worse but it will not be the expected factory performance people will get largely due to the thermal paste. If you reapplied it, it might be better or worse than what Apple used. If you didn't, than it may not perform the same as it would have during its first time getting pressure seated into place with fresh paste.
Are they sold out? Best Buy only has the 256gb SSD version online
I have been waiting to see whats inside this from the day 1… thanks bro
hahah omg ty for taking the time for show us, looked scary!!! very brave !!!
Brave? You gotta be kidding. It's called click-bait. Tons of waterchers. Then affiliated sales. These guys are good. Their cash register keeps on ringing every two minutes, I mean every two seconds. Wake up, Buddy! Smell the Roses in the Household of Max & Vadim, A Castle with a Moat surrounded by youtube hopefuls. Never, never land! 😎😎
Can not wait to see the speaker test!!
Please do a detailed comparison for upgraded 15 inch air vs base 14 inch pro.
Thank you!
Man I'm jealous of the keyboard on the new Air. I have the 16 inch M1 Pro and I have always hated the black keyboard well. I wish they'd bring this style back to the pro models too.
Is the graphene heatsink still absent in 15" model as the 13" compared with the M1 version (which has it)?
is this slow ssd speed going to affect a lot for a university student like me ?.. or show i wait for the m3 chip macbook air?
Thank you guys for all this nerdastic stuff, totally in love
What do you do with them after you finish do you send them back
You should also compare a breakdown like this against any windows laptop just for comparison of quality and care.
Did they improve the heatsink on CPU? I recall M1 air has beafier heatsink than the M2 in reviews (13.6" Air).
Honestly THE teardown I was waiting for. Thanks!
What's with the SSD? Single chip in the base model or not?
Awesome & Thanks :)
Only Max Tech knows how to do proper Mac reviews.
Great! Curious about the memory on this thing.
There is a little metal part with a black component (seems to be in some fabric) on it sited between display connection and motherboard, what is it? And do yiu know ehich is the material of the little black part? plasti
How about a iOS 17 video and also watch OS 10? Love your work!
The video that I've been waiting for
How long do you think would the ssd last especially with base model 8 gb ram?
It will easily last 10+ years, and after RAM will be the longest-lasting component. We are passed the point of worrying about SSDs' life. This assumes you have common sense and buy the 256GB for tasks made for that size. Remember, any swap goes mainly to the dRAM in the SSD, not the actual solid-state drive.
You didn't show, was the Motherboard riveted in?? Also unless those batteries are "matched" they will not last as long. They will degrade a lot sooner.
So with the base model 256gb storage, how is it slower? Is it just slower when opening large files? Or the computer in general will feel slower than upgrading to the 512gb?
THANK YOU for this video. I guess I’ll hold onto my little M1 Air a little bit more…
So will I. My M1 air easily copes with my needs.
I have a question..
The MacBook air M2 13" ssd is slower then M1..
But the MacBook air M2 15" ssd the same like air M2 13" ssd?
What about the battery? This will actually probably get serviced before end of use.
I wonder would it be worth my money if i purchased one. For right now i produce one video(4k30 8 bit 1 hour to 1hr15 long) a week. I am waiting to go to the 4k30 10bit 150mbps setting from the gh5 & Gh6, would it do the job over say the 14 or 16 pro versions or the more expensive computers.
looks like a small thermal pad would increase the cooling area?
Does apple silicon use common thermal paste or is it thicker or what?
SSD fact and M2 being basically M1+ is killer for all M2 series Macbooks. But other than that, this is THE laptop every consumer needs.
how does that 15 inch macbook air handle the game eve online?
Just saw that in person at Apple Store today. The 15" air is lighter than the 14" Macbook Pro.
why would you take it apart before testing it? having taken it apart could skew the test results... that seems like a bad idea.
I still wished Apple put in a better SoC cooling system for the 15" MacBook Air. That could have allowed for more complex operations with less chance of running into thermal throttling issues.
Beautiful 15" MBA! Why oh why doesn't offer cellular data service like on the iPad???
Just checked out the new 15" in person at the local Apple Store. The keys feel a lot like the infamous 'butterfly' ones from 2016. Anyone else notice this? They definitely have less travel than on a MB Pro
basically same keyboard as pros
@@dustida have you actually typed on one? They don't feel the same at all. Way more travel on the mb pro
Damm this video has a nice snappy edit. Good stuff.
That shirt though 👌
Your videos are now absolutely legit and so much good content
Hi, I wanna ask about mac air m1 software support. does it still worth it if i bought that mac air m1 now for 5 years used and how long mac air m1 still get macos updates? thanks
The M1 Air should get four more macOS updates minimum.
Are there any cooling fans? ❄️
I LOVE the idea of a 15'', but I'm very glad I got the M2MBA 💻
portability is a priority for limited spaces like desks, lecture halls, airplanes, and travel
Max does the max review for the mac
Always impressed at your lack of fear when taking this apart!
The real UNBOXING. Dang, it's brand new 😂
Wow, the attention to details in Apple hardwares are second to none 😍😍
Currently watching this on my brand new 15 inch lol
I got a new MacBook Air 15-inch yesterday. I found that the battery was 12 years old by manufacture date though cycle count was 2. 😭 😭 😭
beautiful hardware design inside as always
why the windows laptop can't design the hardware like that. hhhmmm just curious???
Best review I have ever seen
I really liked larger screen!
Wow. Amazing size.
i can't wait to see the mac studio teardown 😂❤❤
8:05 There's a reason why Apple has done this in M2 SKUs. A 256 GB NAND has higher TBW than an equivalent 128 GB chip. That's why it'll take more time before failure (possibly after the warranty expires).
M1 macs with 8GB memory are notorious for failing SSDs (since lots of swap is used even in daily use).
I’ve always wanted a 15 inch MacBook so I’m so excited. There is now a 15 inch MacBook Air I don’t need to get a 15 inch MacBook Pro 😀 Next year, I’m going to be upgrading from the M1 MacBook Air space grey 512GB to the 15inch MacBook starlight 512GB 💻😀
So the question is: how much storage do you have to configure in order to get two NAND chips?
512
And it costs $20 to add the second one.
@@youtube_bot839 I thought that it was actually a lot less than $20. More like on the order of $2 ...
Do you need to put it in the freezer before you use it to get the performance you pay for?!
I don’t like the 15 and really want to. I’ve never been in a situation where the 14 MacBook Pro has been too thick. But the bag I have now just barley fits it. Honestly the 14 in is just as portable IMO.
I want to know the difference between M2 air vs M2 pro
Wow that’s is unbelievable
Wen max studio gaming benchmark 😅
