Sturdiness, overall a very clean inside. Lots of little things like the clips for the bottom. The amount of space for the trackpad. I liked the better thermal for the cover by it being slightly thicker, absorbs more heat and maybe coil whine (lol). Yeah, good design, except.... the single nand ssd and only 8gb unified. But, hey more power to them, this is not my machine.

No need to wonder. They were not included as early reviewers as Apple did not provide them with a review unit. The embargo for early reviewers was lifted yesterday and most of them already have benchmarks. That's why they opted to be first with the teardown. Great strategy.

On a side note, I hope that benchmarks were ran first rather than taking it apart first. I say this as once that CPU was lifted it will never perform how it did from the factory. It could do better or worse but it will not be the expected factory performance people will get largely due to the thermal paste. If you reapplied it, it might be better or worse than what Apple used. If you didn't, than it may not perform the same as it would have during its first time getting pressure seated into place with fresh paste.

It will easily last 10+ years, and after RAM will be the longest-lasting component. We are passed the point of worrying about SSDs' life. This assumes you have common sense and buy the 256GB for tasks made for that size. Remember, any swap goes mainly to the dRAM in the SSD, not the actual solid-state drive.

8:05 There's a reason why Apple has done this in M2 SKUs. A 256 GB NAND has higher TBW than an equivalent 128 GB chip. That's why it'll take more time before failure (possibly after the warranty expires).
M1 macs with 8GB memory are notorious for failing SSDs (since lots of swap is used even in daily use).
