The hint for the rival becoming champion was that in every gym there's a statue listing all the trainers who defeated them. The rival's name was always there, before you beat the gym, so he always has more badges than you.
I really enjoy your style of explaining things, your calm voice and structure of your sentences are a breath of fresh air in the "loud" landscape of YT. I really like your nostalgic videos, i would love to see more JRPGs covered or something of a mix like more of the Battle Network series or Command X.
My personal favorite take on the R/B story is the one in the original Nuzlocke comic: that Giovanni was aware of the danger Mewtwo posed and committed all his nefarious acts in order to catch and stop it. Also good video; I've binged your stuff for about two days now, dig your style.
Love it when you cover a game i havent played but have experience with the series as a whole its a nice little perspective into something i already like that still feels new!
The bike is technically being sold for 1 000 000 yen not dollar, which should have been around 10 000 USD at the time (7 000 USD when I'm posting this message). It's still an insane price for a bike but it's not a ferrari lol
I have Blue and Yellow version on Gameboy. I also have an emulator on my phone and have all 3. Including Silver,Gold and Crystal. I also have the remakes on Gameboy Advance. I play them every so often. They are along with the cards and anime a staple of my childhood and I will cherish them forever.
I found your account a few days ago and have been really enjoying your content. I watched your San Andreas video and was excited to see Pokémon and Resident Evil videos as well. Your voice reminds me of The Salt Factory except you don’t sound like you hate your life lol. Also I’d really like to hear you talk about Dead Rising.
Heard you mention this video in a GTA video and dug around for it in your library. I knew I'd be in for a nostalgic treat looking back at the old Red/Blue games. Sorry the algorithm was such a jerk to this video. It's a really good retrospective and I enjoyed the whole thing. Best wishes.
Even though people may point out that DQ 5 released a month prior to SMT 1, They were developed at the same time and in DQ 5 monster catching is very secondary.
Even if that is the case, the game he showed is "Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei". Its the first game in the Megami Tensei / Shin Megami Tensei series and released in 1987.
A not so known fact is Prof. Oak will give you 5 free pokeballs but only if you beaten your rival at the route near the League, haven't caught any Pokemon or collected any pokeballs
How about a timesplitters series retrospective? Also Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, and potentially MMBN(huge time sink though.) There's also divinity 2 which is a pretty fascinating game. Not my place to tell you what to do, but I like falling asleep to video essays and books on tape etc. If you keep videos long, and when you monetize if you keep the ads further out in the video (if you can still decide when they play,) and if you keep the narration adequately vivid then your videos will have longer play times-because people like me are falling asleep to them. As you get into each franchise/series you can also playlist them, for example your GTA retrospectives. I am going to continue to watch your channel grow, all trends are going towards hour minimum video essays imo. You could try and mess around with some shorts to gain new viewers, but I'd reccomend just making them of meme worthy/awkward moments you may have captured during gameplay footage for an upcoming production (of the game itself, not a reaction- think The Cutting Room Floor intro paragraph stuff that most people dont know about). Obviously I like how you have been producing your content so far, otherwise I would not have bothered to leave you this comment, hope it was constructive and encouraging.
Appreciate the comment! Time Splitters is a series I wouldn't mind taking a look at, just never played before. I'm actually playing divinity orginal sin 2 now, just not very deep in it.
@@fuzzyslippersyt the first one can be a little offputting as it's super arcady. TS 2 and especially future perfect (3) have a lot to offer. I remember looking at the gamecube disc as a little kid and being baffled as to how they fit all of it on that little thing.
This is still such a great era. I do like to go back to yellow for the cartoon influence but I avoid red and blue for how much I prefer fire red and leaf green.
Thanks for this. As an old GenX gamer, I juuust missed the Pokemon wave, but I've always been interested in the lore of it all. I really hope you get to Fallout sometime :)
I only played Heart Gold a couple years ago for the first time - it was so good. Having two worlds + some extra islands, as I recall, makes it the best for me.
Thanks for watching! Check out my other videos here!

I've never once thought of flying back to Pallet to get to Cinnabar. I've always hated going through Seafoam
Great video love the new art work. Definitely will be booting up red version this weekend lol.

Gen1 is a good game held up by spaghetti code that breaks if you look at it wrong. Yet somehow, it still manages to work, somewhat reliably
Just found your channel! Excellent review, looking forward to more content. More reviews like this for pokemon would be great

My first game was yellow

I like your video essays. You deserve more subscribers.
Would you consider doing one on gen 2?

I had someone steal my gameboy color when I gotten it months before. I had to chase him for 6 or 7 city blocks.
Fucn Fact: Gym Leader "Surge" was inspired ny The 'Karate Kid''s movie 'John Crease'

@FuzzySlippers why did this video get so low views ?
32:22 I see you're a man of culture as well
I still think 2nd gen hands down was the best generation.
I only played Heart Gold a couple years ago for the first time - it was so good.
