It would be helpful if you could explain what bhuning is because some viewers may not understand what that means - me included. Thank you for your lovely recipes.
My apologies Maria, so Bhuning, Bhun or Bhunify mean the same thing. I've used the word Bhuning when I'm cooking the meat in the masala. It is normally a second stage cook of a dish before we either add, water or rice in, depending on what we are making. The initial first stage cook is when we've added the meat to the onion/tomato masala and we half cook the meat after which the Bhuning process starts to further cook the meat and masala together so all the flavours have time to infuse together creating a wonderful end product. Hope this helps 😊
This. Is. Just. Wauw. Your cooking is so clean and easy to follow. We could literally sense your excitement through the screen in the end, so cute! You're such a pretty girl to watch too 🤗 Thanks a million for this wonderful Desi recipe MLK! ❤
Salam, me again! After conquering your chicken pilau recipe with the family loving it, I’m going to try your biryani recipe! Question, when boiling the rice, before draining, have the rice cooked fully or does the steaming in the oven cook them further? I hope that makes sense.
Hi Adil, thank you for your comment. Wonderful to hear the chicken pilau was enjoyed. The rice is more than half cooked, the rest of it will cook when on Dum. Hope that helps
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes thank you! Love it how during you English instructions you use the Urdu terms “bunaing” and “dum”! 🤣 what’s the English translation of those words?
This looks so amazing! I wouldn't save it for special occassions, I would have it every week! I am a biryani addict though. Hope you have a wonderful Eid :)
Enjoy.. although I must say the unexpected sourness of stumbling upon a dry plum when taking a spoonful of Biryani is something quite on a different level.
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes The biryani was delicious but I will definitely give the plums a try next time. I ended up adding boiled new potatoes and a handful of blitzed coriander. Your recipe is going to be a favourite in our house 👍 I’m back to choose something else to make tomorrow with lamb x

15/20 mins on the hob on a low to meduim heat setting - more low than medium as you don't want the heat to burn the food at the bottom. Hope that helps 😊
My personal favourite is the lamb one, I'm just waiting for Eid day when I can make it and enjoy it, as weve not had any pilau dish during Ramadan. But the chicken one was equally lovely.

Hi Kat, lol I can totally relate, I want to either buy (if I'm out shopping) everything under the sun, thinking I'll eat it after I open my fast or want to make everything I see on social media! 😂
I'm destined to try biryani with potatoes & eggs. Also just outta curiosity? Are you Hindustani? I know you are an Anglo-Saxon because of your accent but I only ask because the vast majority of your recipes are Hindustani dishes.
Hi there, thanks for your comment. No I'm a British National of Pakistani origin. Most dishes eaten across which was formally known as Hindustan before the partition of Pakistan and India are pretty similar I'd say. Every district, region and household has a different way of cooking dishes but are still somewhat similar. Hope that helps 😊👍
Hi Saj, thank you for your comment. They're are many variations of Biryani out there. Some with yoghurt some without, you can adapt any recipe to suit your personal preference. 😊👍
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes thank u for your reply and answering the question and happy eid to u and your family just love watching your channels will try shepherd pie 🥧
Salam sister hope u r well and an Eid Mubarak. I wanted to ask when you say 8-10 cups of water to boik the rice, is that 2000-2500 ml or grams yes? Ive realised you don’t measure on the description the water but thats ok im asking you in general should we? Can I ask what brand and exact rice do you use when making the biryani it would definitely for me be easier to follow ?
Wsalaam brother Shiraz, Alhamdulilah I am well and khair mubarak. Yes you are correct.. 8/10 cups works out to be around 2000ml. To be honest when you're boiling rice for Biryani, it's better to use a lot of water than less as you will be draining it off anyway. So it doesnt matter if its more than 10mugs. With a pilau it's obviously different as the rice cooks in the water. The rice that used is Vetee extra long basmati rice. Hope that helps 😊
@@MyLittleKitchenRecipes ok thank you once again. I also wanted to ask if I wanted to do a Biryani for myelf only how many grams of rice should I use, could you say 1 cup which is 250ml be ok or is that too small ?
Hi S Soum, thank you for your comment. I use a few different brands at home. For normal everyday cooking of rice i use Trophy basmati rice and then for special occasions and for this Chicken Biryani recipe I've used Vetee extra long grain basmati. Both are very good. Hope that helps!

Ma sha allah will be trying this what rice do you use because the grains are nice and long I’ve got badshah in my house and they are short

I use Veetee Extra Long Basmati Rice.
What type of oil do you use?
An olive oil blend and coconut oil sometimes.
