Thanks for that, I've just finished doing mine but redrilled one collar to remove the end play. As for wicks, I refuse to pay Grizzly prices plus shipping to the UK so experimented with short lengths of 3mm and 5mm Lamp Wick and found they wicked a very heacy weight oil (120 SAE) in cold conditions in a similar trial to yours. I also tried using a thin strip of man made felt camping towel which only manager half the capilary performance og the lamp wick
Hello Paul, Nice work and an enjoyable video... I was tempted to make a comment regarding taking the shaft in and out must have got on your WICK but thought better of it, See you on the next one. Take care. Paul,,
Apart from using a diamond stone to flatten the wear grove that was a nicely thought out and executed repair Thank you.p.s.i would have started with the diamond stone as well !!
Very nice work Paul! I do think you have swapped the two ends. In the take-apart segments, the one with the chisel marks is on right but when you put it back together, it is on the left. Might have been intentional (or not matter depending on how you measured for the shim).
Hi, they actually went back the way they came apart. In the filming I took them apart and put them together that many times I sorta got it round my neck a bit.. cheers
Very nice indeed, thank you! I wonder - I have a few screw threads (leadscrew, lathe handwheels) where there's either a bit of slop, or it's too tight - is that a candidate for a thrust washer?
I hope you had the casserole in the oven at the same time as de stressing the shim. Can’t afford to waist gas at the price it is at nowadays 🤬💷 👍🏴
Assailant is such a good word to describe the meddling of the incompetent. Really enjoying your rebuild & looking forward to the next instalment.
Hi tony, that was the politest word I could think of at the time assassin was too direct. cheers ATB
That was brilliant Paul, great work. Always enjoy seeing the thought process behind the repairs you do.

Hi, I really couldn’t say.. regards
Washers will not take out backlash from a word screw or nut but will help if there is play between collars
@@tonyray91 Correct.. All I've done is remove almost all the ( axial ) endplay. Regards.
