Right on Francis! Thank you for taking the time to write! Much appreciate the comment and feedback; eventually you should check out our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and see stuff you can’t really see here such as the “pre-motor cortex series” and the “kinetic chain facilitation series”, the “unstoppable momentum series”, the target confirmation series”, and the “release” videos, “the throwing series”, and then some! 😀
Great teaching Shawn ! Cheers.
You guys are the best!
Great Video! Keep the back swing UPRIGHT!
Thanks so much for this video! I really got to feel the weight of the club and gravity pulling it when I made my swing more upright!
Yes sir! enjoy the turbo charge and better accuracy! Lots more if you need it here, when searching any video, just add my name to the mix!
Great lesson!

My pleasure!
I threw the sledgehammer with Shawn last week in Quebec and it was awesome!!! Learned so much so fast! What a great experience and blessing to have the opportunity to visit Shawn for 3 days of in person lessons. Looking forward to following up with some online lessons. It is fascinating to learn that I can have an upright swing and still hit inside out if I maintain the intention to throw at the target.
right on Dexter! Super comment! what a pleasure it was to receive you here in QC! had a blast and looking forward to seeing you guys again soon!👌👍😀
Engaging the legs seems to be the key to feel the swing and the throwing of the club to a target and not just firing at the ball . I need to get the trigger ,to start the swing, in my legs or feet action.🤔🤔
The key is to feel the weight of the arms and club ALREADY TRACKING AND PULLING ON THE SHOULDER SOCKETS and allowing them to continue into the backswing; like you can’t use the arms, you are letting the arms track…
OMG! What a great way to get the feeling of using your legs and the ground in your golf swing!
Sledge hammer magic!!!
Great vertical swing drill, will be good to have more lessons like these.
More to come!
Gives new meaning to throwing the club :) To me, it is all about feeling the weight of the club head and using natural forces, my club head speed jumps by about 15mph when I do this correctly and it feels like less effort. This really helps you feel speed where it should be, at the bottom and also drag for lag, nice drill.
EXACTLY!!
So I started watching you channel about 6 months ago. And I am a person who used a big hammer to drive in spikes sideways, or cut down trees for work. So in doing so your video made hitting golf easier. I am now hitting straighten shots and could probably give moo a challenge for long ball game jajaja.
Fantastic! Thank you for your awesome comment! We would love to see your swing!
Simple and effective swing
Have chronic osteo and buldged discs in my lumbar. Been trialling a more upright swing to limit my rotation. Getting the club deep was giving me constant back pain. This video is conformation that an upright swing can work for me. Thanks
Absolutely you bet big time!!!
100% Agree
I did this move by accident one day and my 4iron went 200+ yds. This is how I found your page looking for clarity!!
Now I can repeat. Finally lefty instruction!! 🙏🏾
Haha! Lefties are big time welcome here!
Great
Thanks Shawn for all your service to the golfing community. Question why does someone have a flat and inside takeaway instead of more upright like this video?
What are you trying to do at address when looking down at the ball? what is your main task? hit the ball? Lift the ball?
If you struggle maintaining width or have no idea what width is in a golf swing this drill is awesome. Collapsing with a sledge hammer doesn't happen.
Hey guys great video ,just a thought here that long driver Marty Borigimier I know I killed that spelling 😂 but if you guys made a video together would be something probably help Mu with long drive too 👍just a thought like I said 👍no harm no foul either way
Great suggestion! We will look at doing something in Utah or Mesquite in the next couple months!
The new “Swing Surgeon.” Go into the catchers mitt, then go up the tree, but not into the “sacred burial ground,” then down using ground forces, and up the tree again. Thank Shawn for adding the ground forces.
Hey Shawn, been trying to implement your swing techniques, I was doing some browsing on your website and I seen that you do online lessons, would I be able to send a video of what my swing looked like with a weak grip/bowed wrist, as that is what my swing was? I’m currently working the stronger grip and wrist extension as we speak because it feels better on my wrist
Darn right it does! The anatomy of the arms and basic human mouvement patterns require it!! See “www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and see the lessons page for the online options; half my weekly lessons are online now 1-1 and it has been REALLY SOLID!!
Just for S&G's...would have loved to see what happens when you hit the ball with the sledge! Cheers\=/\=/
please also help to connect throwing the club with what you have demonstrated with sledge hammer.
See “how to put the ball in the way of your swing shawn clement” and “predict perfect contact and direction shawn clement”
Hi Shawn, great stuff here. Just wondering if you head to warmer temps location during the winter and give lessons in a warm climate (eg, Florida?) I’m sure there are many followers that would love to take lessons in the winter with you.
haha! we just finalized our schedule for MEXICO BABY!! WILL HAVE ALL THE INFO ON OUR WEBSITE VERY SOON AT www.wisdomingolf.com we start end of November and go till May! I will be down for 10 weeks over the course of the winter…send me an email at shawnclement@me.com and I will get you details!
Tilted Spiral !
Shawn been struggling on getting to my left side to start downswing so I went to my closet wiped off dust on you three DVD set titled Feel your way to simplicity and clarity. Can't wait to get back to the course. One question, if I travel to Quebec can I get a lesson from you
Yes, you can, go to www.wisdomingolf.com and see “lessons” and then “at Royal Quebec” and you will see my agenda. As for getting to that left side, man, you need to get with our premium channel at www.wisdomjngolfpremium.com and see all the updates we have made since that dvd set! I would go immediately to “kinetic chain” and “kinetic chain facilitation series” these should all come up when you type the words “kinetic chain” in the search box at the top right. only $9.95 per month right now, so get grandfathered in at that rate!
@@golflessons Thanks Shawn for the reply and your advice!! I took your advice and I signed up for the Premium Subscription. I played today after watching your DVD and hit the ball very good. I live in New Hampshire and looking forward to coming to Quebec to meet you.
Thank you Shawn as I hit balls today and hit them straight as long as i used a super strong grip but that is what works for me I just need to work on my accuracy but in time i will have that . I get a bunch of grief from my brother you need to learn a neutral grip I just tell him no thanks this grip is working for me and i do not need to retrain my whole body to swing like he does
PLEASE CONTINUE TO USE THAT STRONG GRIP AS THIS IS YOUR WEAPON TO GET THROUGH THE BALL!! You have the goods, not him!!
The grip has to match up with your release pattern and other elements of your swing. For me, a strong grip is death. Even with a neutral grip, my solid balls are draws and my miss is a hook. Every time I try a stronger grip, the hook just becomes unplayable. Of course, this is all a chain reaction. If I had a different release pattern, arm and body action, I'm sure a stronger grip would work better for me. I personally hate the way a strong grip looks and feels. It makes me feel right hand dominant. A neutral grip gets my hands activated more equally.
@@rexxengineering8333 YOU ARE FORGETTING A HUGE INGREDIENT TO YOUR EQUATION!! Are you allowing momentum to release you in the direction you want the ball to start or are you RELEASING AT THE BALL?
This has Moe Norman written all over it. High hands finishing in the middle of the fairway. Never down the left. Never out of bounds.
Yessir!! see the reply I gave Todd C!👍
Great video. I can feel the weight of a sledge hammer but not a light driver. Do you use a weighted shaft or heavier club?! I can see your club head pointing way right of target line at the top of your right handed back swing.
Yes, like Matt Wolfe, Kenny Perry, Jack Nicklaus, Bubba Watson! we are in great company. When hitting draws, that is where it should be. See “feeling the weight in your swing shawn clement” as a starter, then check out our premium channel for these important titles:
-Using the weight in your swing, axe drill with Savy
-the throwing series
-pumping up the swing volume
-unstoppable momentum series (this one is sweet)
-kinetic chain facilitation series (as sweet too!)
Your swing looks more loose, it floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee. Sav looks like she is throwing that club and keeping her arms more straight.
Had a string of 4 or 5 holes where I felt myself using the ground and was hitting my driver and irons pure and accurate. Next round was as if it was the 1st time with a club in my hand
What was your focus?
@@golflessons I hit best when I say to myself "there is no ball". My practice swings are epic and playing partners tell me to swing like my practice swings. If it were only that easy!
@@gabrielutasi IT IS THAT EASY!! PLEASE SEE ‘grass whip training shawn clement” and get yourself a solid task!
My premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com (at $9.95 for the moment) has a whole list of incredible tasks to choose from such as “top 3 tasks”, “task update”, task 2.0 series, throwing the club series, etc.
When you get good with grass whipping, you get really good at golf.
Hoisting a heavier object we can only support it if it’s balanced , as not to fall in front or behind us . This is where I get in trouble all the time now . Do to the lightness of a golf club I can’t feel it in space . It’s hoisted then it feels like I’m pulling a 3 foot piece of string . As a band aid I try sometimes let it fall a little behind me in the down swing with very mixed results. I can’t feel the head . Great video as usual.
@@golflessons I think I'm just subconsciously afraid of hitting the ball or hurting my wrist when the club hits the divot. I'm not afraid on the practice swings and try to convince myself it's the same movement, but the ball has power over me
Hey Shawn, thanks for the video… another good one. Can you tell me what driver you were using at the end and did you get a special paint job on the crown? Thanks
Callaway Triple Diamond LS with 2 strips of white electric tape on the crown; USGA approved!
Awesome… although are you being sarcastic about USGA Approved? I thought that anything added would have to be permanent.
The reason is that I am a big Callaway fan, but their woods have very little help on top for alignment. I am looking for a legal solution to add alignment too my woods. Thanks for any input.
@@tlavery59 nope, semi permanent is good; and it cannot be on the face; just on the crown
As a helicopter pilot, picturing a helicopter in “dynamic rollover” the technical term for what you described is challenging for me😂 but I get it.
DYNAMIC ROLLOVER!! Got it! will mot forget! thank you for that!😀👍🤘👊
This is a great exercise. I do it with a Kettlebell in the gym...sadly can't let go on the final swing though 🤣
Not if you want to keep your membership in good standing! 😝😝
AHAH moment. It took me ten years to learn / discover this : arms should be vertical at address. This is a recipe for consistency and power. What is on a vertical axis will travel and come back on a vertical axis. Less moving parts.
Shawn, Your always talking about intermediate target back from the intended target . But you say pick out something in front of your ball no more than 12 inches ? Then you have
intermediate maybe four feet in front of you . Are you actually saying to have 3 targets, of which two are in reference to the main target ? Your mind is on the target , eye on the blade of grass just behind the ball , as well as your peripheral seeing the 12 inch target ?
The four feet in front is only for THROWING STUFF STRAIGHT!!! 😝😂😝😂
When we deliver through the ball, then the intermediate point in 6 inches to a foot max in front. See “alignment reload” in the premium channel, huge video
Did the sledgehammer fly over those trees when Mu threw it?
It was a few yards farther than mine…🙄🙄🙄
Quick question, How do you stop coming over the top using this method please? I feel like I’d just chop down on the ball.
Of the ball is your target, you will chop down on the ball!! Over the top is necessary when the ball is your target…HOWEVER, if you want to collect the ball from where it lies and release it to the target where you want it to end, THIS IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SWING WHERE OVER THE TOP CANNOT EXIST!!! See all my “throwing the club shawn clement” videos, “at the ball vs through the ball shawn clement”, over the top shawn clement” and “predict perfect contact and direction shawn clement” for starters!
I think this is an artificial difference. The swing is a circular path. You don't swing at the ball or at the target. You swing along an arc. The ball is part of the arc. So you can certainly make the ball your target as long as you are swinging along the proper arc (path, plane, etc). You will not be over the top doing that. The problem comes in when that is misinterpreted to be "swing in a straight line from the top of the swing to the ball". That's over the top. But thinking about swinging to the target can cause problems as well if misinterpreted. This can cut off the swing and result in pushes. The swing is more or less an arc on an inclined plane. My best shots happen when I follow the arc, though in general, I don't think about such things.
@@rexxengineering8333 this is why we always use an intermediate point and use the arc-blur of club to intersect through both INTO THE FLIGHT PLAN which leads to the end target; you are correct that you cannot go 2 dimensionally straight to the end target as there are way to many things missing between that such as curvature, height, wind etc…
On our premium channel we have awesome titles such as blur of club, and “arc-blur unstoppable momentum series, and the all important “alignment reload” which educates the golfer on the pitfalls of trusting human side vision.
Moe Norman had a very flat swing but I think was still able to use the ground effectively.
No, his swing had space to return the arms under him through impact; he was short with long arms, I am tall with short arms; that is why we look different. Moe had told me that there was one spell of time where he was hitting it 30 yards longer than usual and then it went away; this is the reason right here!
Moe does not have the knee bounce but I do like how he teaches to keep the right heel down through impact. For me it keeps my hips from spinning out and helps me to square the club face. I appreciate how Moe simplifies the swing with less moving parts.
Thor
Have you found a good left handed long drive driver yet?
Still working on it!
