Congratulations on getting trains running, it’s a great feeling and a milestone. You have made great progress on the layout, lovin what ur doing. If you are going to use hinges on the lift up, make sure you put a block under each side of the hinges so it clears the opening.
Just found your channel, Great looking layout. I am in the process of building one as if I were a 10 year old and received the best train set ever, lol. Straight DC , no fancy stuff. Keep up the great work, looking forward to following this.
It looks Great. Take a look at Jan. 2023 Model Railroader Annual How to Guide for an idea for your lift-up section. I am building a new layout and am trying this way. It uses European cabinet hinges. This type pulls away as you lift up. I don't have track across it yet but I do have my roadbed in. Still waiting for PCB ties. Very good article that explains everything. Good luck.
If there is a God, then it looks like he's the one who built and did the wear and tear on the trailer, shacks, buildings, and apartments. What I saw in this video looks as sweet as sugar.
It’s a great day when pro scale. Models put out a video. The layout is looking great. Can’t wait to see what you do with the walls. What kind of scenery are you going to paint on there?
I love to see the trains running, Wayman. I like how you have an industrial area on the edge of town. That will look great! You may not be able to hinge the liftout, because as it swings up the opposite end will swing out a bit at the bottom. But you'll figure something out, or it looks like it works as is. And how did you mount that locomotive shelf on the drywall? I don't see any support. You using some magic or something?
Hahaha I love magic. So I seen this guy doing DIY home stuff and he used pocket screws. So I was like I can do that and they are 3" screws to provide enough support and length for trains. Don't think I'd put anything heavier up there. And yeah I was thinking about the lift out side as well. I could cut a little off that side that would potentially scrap the side - who knows but for now I'll leave it as is. Thanks Greg.
Pocket screws!! Of course. See, all magic tricks have something hidden. And yeah, maybe beveling the far end would work. But you have a lot to build, and it works for now.
I have some kits that don’t work for me.. buildings… i can send you pics and if interested let me know… i got that gift mood going on… my contribution to the layout.. which is taking shape and looking good..
Saw a bunch of you vids great work and presentation. Curious you from Pittsburgh ? Your voice is distinctive. Grew up & lived there for 60 years + Just saying
