Yep just a way they found to save some polygons, some of the characters even tho have better faces have worse "clothing" in Redux, it was just they shifting the polygon budget to here it mattered.

I'm kind of at a loss to be honest. The original's atmosphere was more bleak (making it more appropriate) but I find that the surface sections in redux created this unique contrast between beauty and desolation.
Yeah... Redux of course has more detailed character models, and better phys-x. Where as the original has better lightning and a....slightly different/grimmer atmosphere... It was... confusing to watch this.. some comparisons I couldn't help but think "What..? why did they change that?" and then other times I was like "Yeah, I guess the Redux does look a little better here..."

I think it has more to do with the fact that you've already played it, when the original first came out. You didn't really know what to expect then, right? Now you play redux version after the original it's not scary anymore, because you played it and you know what to expect. The creatures, in particular, especially the rail cart attack, I thought it looked much better than the original. Some of the human characters, especially their eyes, just looks plain weird.
The graphical improvements are very minor. And in some places the original looks even better. The point of the Redux version was to optimize the game. Because the original one was very poorly optimized. And it was hard to run even with the most powerful GPU's at it's time.
nope the graphical improvements are huge. this guys metro 2033 redux graphics look far inferior to mine on PS4 for some reason plus the average metro 2033 original games for most people didnt look nearly as good as this guy who was on max graphics settings with a powerful PC and most likely some mods

Its very simple: Original = Much better atmosphere, scary and depressing. Redux = Slightly more eye candy, better weapon damage and better ki. I will go with the original since i want to experience the dense atmosphere, already read the book a few years ago.
Redux has a shit load of gameplay enhancements so it's hard to go back. Plus the atmosphere is still the same, for the most part. Some levels are just during daylight now.
Not only the atmosphere was lost but also several animations and functions of the original that I would have liked to see in the Redux, it is as if they had transformed the survival of the original Metro for more mechanics of a call of duty
Redux is brighter and smoother than the original. Details look older in the original one and they are more complex in redux. Personally I prefer Redux because it's fresher than the Original. But the Original is still an amazing game
The original looks darker, scarier and much more desolate, like it really should be. The redux version's ambiance looks almost cosy, at times. Also, I find the mutants much more terrifying in the original, especially nosalises and demons. For instance, when that nosalis lands on the train cart, it looks a lot scarier in the original.
Yes I agree. I just finished redux and it wasn’t nearly as scary as the original. All the improved lighting really takes away from the dark ambience of anything could get you from a shadow. The monsters are more detailed but at the same time look more animal than mutant. Like the watchers go from these leathery rotten/mutated beasts to almost cat like with all their hair and refined snout and fangs
Some parts have better atmosphere in original, some it seems in redux. Its pretty inconsistent, and I think there is a place for cosiness mostly only in the base and in the quiet more chill parts of the gameplay. Idk I think this redux version was mostly just a cash-grab, inconsistent and it seems low effort and low quality of work is behind it. I think thats pretty much expected however from remasters or redux versions or w/e.
I fully agree with the Demons, I honestly wish they kept that artstyle for them in all the games, they have a scary Gargoyle look to them which the other games miss entirely.
Honestly, it feels like you're watching 2 different games based on the same scenario. They both do the job very greatly, and sometimes I feel like even if the original looked a lot better in certain aspects, that just makes it more cozy, and takes away from the uncomfortable atmosphere of the game. Although to compensate for that, the outside seemed to be way more dark, in a way contrasting it.
Very mixed feelings. While some things such as monster enemies looking far better in Redux, some characters look worse in the newer version. Just look at this character 2:08 that looks much better in the original. Redux pig is all "pimply" and hairless, while the original pig looked better with fur, as pigs should have. Not that it matters. It's a very mixed bag with some unreasonable changes. Redux is mostly blurry. That ugly FXAA/TAA anti-aliasing. Lighting and shadows were better in the original. For me that's a deal-breaker.
4:33 Not Original Metro 2033 here, it's the Redux version. If you look closely, it pops up the "bullet icon" also known as "buy" icon when he got close to the merchant, which it is the same icon feature that was introduced in Metro Last Light.

Gotta disagree. He's an average 20 something living in a post apocalyptic setting. He's no stranger to guns as he's been on guard duty against the horrors living in the tunnels and the Dark Ones many times.
When i was 17 year old i hold an AKS74-U, and i could shot it in fully automatic, i got to say, the recoil isn't something big, is just the feeling of the gun shaking a lot amd the weight on your arms, and i am really skinny so, doesn't made much difference to me
I love the smoke and dust particles in the original so it makes me kind of sad to see it all go away in the Redux version. Overall I think that Redux looks much better than the original on the surface and the original looks much better underground in the metro or in the library.

What makes metro so awesome is the level design, the environment, and how they made the metro look, feel, and sound like the factions also feel like they fit the environment very well but overall the level design and the environment are probably my favorites

I always love the original since it was the first metro i got that got me into the books as well. The first felt a lot like how the books described the metro, dark and everyone living like rats.

There are a few things I'll disagree with. The mods for your weapons. You do know that you can buy it with continental coins correct, you don't just have to use the gamble system. The skill system I would not at all say is broken at all. I can understand that it's repetitive but ya gotta understand that this game is about "heists" where you steal shit such as diamonds, money, and even break Hoxton out of prison. Every thing else I agree with, although I love the progression system in this game as it is fair and forgivable unlike games such as Bf1 where it takes fucking more than a goddamn month to get to maximum level.
I have both. I played & cleared the original 1st, and fell in love with the Metro Series. Then I played and cleared Metro Last Light. Then years later I played the Redux version. I like both. There is ups and downs on both versions. My Comparison: Original to Redux: - Monsters look more Scarier, finer detailed and a bit darker over Redux. - Characters sort of look the same, and most look younger over Redux. - Game overall looks darker & grainier versus Redux. Which version do I prefer? BOTH. Play the original then play the Redux. They both have there unique characteristics. Though you have to play the ORIGINAL if you want the TRUE to LIFE experience METRO is suppose to give you. Last Light is a great improvement in Character movement, graphics, mask looks, like seeing smoke coming out of your filter, cleaning the mast etc., details and so on. I can't wait for a METRO 2034 Expansion Pack and a METRO 2035. Though I would prefer it be about 10-15 years in the future. Such as METRO 2055. For example.
I played redux first and then the original, but the gameplay feels so different, they did a really good job with the gameplay. It feels more smooth, weapons, controls, menus, everything is more like a modern game, original is just awful even when in some scenes might look a it better. Play redux is a waaayyy better experience

I just finished the Last Light redux. Now doing the 2033 Redux. I finished 2033 on xbox already, but I had to try it on pc, so I got the redux version. The improved textures, higher polygon models are better, but I just like the more grim and gloomy atmosphere the original Metro 2033 has. The city for example looks way darker in the original than in the Redux, which is kinda sad since the game is supposed to be gritty, not full of lights. That made venturing in the city scary. Nonetheless a good job, but I like some things of the old one better.
ProjectRealityBf2 In the novel, stalkers only venture to the surface during a night. When its daytime, the sun would be too bright, blinding them, and would burn them due to UV radiation. So I think in the original game it's nightime but in the redux version they changed the story.
It's strange how they completely changed the facial appearances of most of the characters. If you played the original game and got to know those characters on sight, you would never recognize them moving to the redux.
Alright guys, I understand that some of you don't like change, and in most cases I would agree, and this is coming from someone who hates the Last Light redux. The 2033 redux is just overall better than the original. The textures are much higher resolution, the character models look more true to Russia, and look more like real people than clean cut ass holes. The lighting is in most places far better. The changes to the environments make the game look far more true to real life, one good example of that would be the comparison between the hot water underground. The brighter overworld environment in this video helps better reveal what the torn apart Russia looks like in this universe instead of the constant dark underground sequences. The game runs leagues better than the original. Lastly, the particle effects, anti-aliasing, and bloom effects added in the redux greatly improve the atmosphere. And you guys are saying that this is shit? The only design changes I have a problem with are a select few models (only two of those models in this video) who just overall look dumber than the ones in the original. Other than that, this is the better version.
Nah man, people in redux might look better, but the clothes on (most of) them look kinda standartized and boring. And too shiny. In fact, most of the scenery looks too bright and shiny, especially surface at day.

Glossy shader everywhere because it catches the eye of low IQ people. They don't realize it's just a shader applied everywhere. Plus its very ugly and shitty.
When I play the original sometimes I can't make out what's in front of me. Especially in a gas mask. That's what makes it even more terrifying. I'm not exactly sure what I'm walking into when I crawl into a tunnel or a dark room. Even with some light it's hard to make out the silhouettes and shadows of an enemy compared to say a table. Death stalks every corner, and I'm on the edge of me seat. Every. Single. Minute. It's amazing.
Original indeed looks better in general, but that's due to the gamma-settings, which-by the way-can be adjusted. Original also stutters a lot more. Redux stutters a lot less, and has a load of gameplay enhancements. Atmosphere is mostly about the same, and some levels are during daylight in Redux. There's more to Redux's advantages than what I just stated.
The video doesn't do the Redux version justice. The upgrade in terms of assets, lightning and effects like smoke and fog is much more apparent when you have it running in real time. I played them back to back some couple of weeks ago. That said, the art direction has definitely changed. I can understand people liking the look of certain areas better in the original. I personally think that both versions are worth playing if you like the series. It's a shame that the original game was removed from Steam. Another thing was that the original was too dark for me in many places. Like to the point I could barely see where I was going during stealth sections. It was virtually impossible to find out where some of the traps were without bumping into them first and reloading a checkpoint. The gamma setting did little to alleviate that. The Redux was much matter in that regard. I could actually see where I was going and it was still plenty dark where it was appropriate. The gamma setting actually perceptibly changes things and has reference images which help you to adjust it.

2024 and I just now finished Metro2033 redux on console, tomorrow starts Last light, after that, Exodus. I played the series like 3x by now, always with like a 2 year break. I will play it in a few years again, the series is timeless and really holds up even up today. The redux versions really are a blessing.

Wild. If you didn't have the clips labeled I would have been fooled into thinking the better looking one was the remaster. After seeing this I'll stick with the original, in almost all regards it looks superior to me.
The 2010 release didn't work in my celeron N2806 with Intel HD but this one did splendidly. I welcome the addition of more difficulties and a "playstyle" option, plus there is more exploration in some areas where you have to search keys for safes that contain military ammo and stuff, and also there's more customization for weapons. However, the shinier graphics affects the overall theme of the game and may scare off some players from the original title.

Wenn man mal bei dem Vieh guckt was auf den Wagen springt, ist die Haut doch beim Original deutlich detaillierter als bei der Redux Version. Auch der Boden sieht beim original finde ich iwie besser aus als in der Reduxversion und der Typ der da bei 44 Sekunden rumballert hat beim beim original auch iwie schärfere Texturen. ich kann mir nicht helfen aber ich finde das Original sieht sogar besser aus, dazu ist es düsterer als die Reduxversion was die Atmosphäre verstärkt.
Personally I think the only thing the Redux improves on visually is some shadows and outside effects. The original has much better human models and has a dingier atmosphere about it probably due to choices of lighting and particles. The Redux messed up peoples faces. I have heard that the redux did improve on the controls though.

Die "alte" Version kommt viel authentischer rüber, die Szene mit dem kleinen Teddybären z.B. Der Teddy sieht in der alten Version viel ranziger aus. Für die Konsoleros isses halt okay das die auch mal in schön und flüssig spielen können und nicht in 30 Frames Pixelbrei xD
Naja also die Redux Version sieht um längen besser aus, die Texturen sind höher aufgelöst, es liegt eher an RUclips das man es nicht so sieht, wie groß der Unterscheid ist. Besonders das Motion Blur macht einiges an Unterschied aus wenn man es spielt, doch bei RUclips lässt einiges an Motion Blur das Video schlecht aussehend wirken

Lots of different opinions here, and it just goes to show that a decision for a game/movie/music album remaster will never be recognized as a successful one by default. Sometimes everything just clicks at the 1st attempt when the creators just get their inspiration out of their system. The way I see it: Redux has some significant improvements in graphics, but they are sporadic & the newer artistic choices of the creators rarely look as good & successful as the original. In 70% of the scenes of this video I would definitely choose the original. I think the choice between polished and atmospheric is an easy one. I would be more than willing to sacrifice some fidelity in graphics to get a better atmosphere that remains close to the original artistic vision. (As far as gameplay, I can't be sure.)
While I do like the Redux more, it's a very close call. The original is much, much more darker, which makes sense, but the Redux then has changed the graphics in such a way that certain scenes looks much better. I think the monsters look a lot better in the Redux, but then it lights them up way too much. I prefer the UI a lot more in Redux as well.
What I found by very close inspection of the video: - Textures seem to have the same resolution as in the original :) - New textures are less crispy because they have less specularity and bumpiness :( Criticism: Sometimes it is very difficult to compare texture quality here because of: - AA is OFF in the original version - Motion blur is ON in the redux version - Recording resolution is not always 1920 × 1080 but sometimes lower Nevertheless, thanks for the comparison.
The only things that bothered me in redux where the character models and how some of them always looked surprised with wide open eyes as well as some off putting lighting but that’s about it.
eigentlich tragen nur die lichteffekt zu einer "besseren" grafik bei. Personen sehen zT definitiv bescheuerter aus. Ansonsten passt finde ich der etwas verwaschenere (und auch unscharfe!) Look der alten Version durchaus besser. In Games ohne düsteres Endzeitszenario wahrscheinlich anders..
It's 2019 and I just played both Redux prior to Exodus and got to say, it's hold up REALLY well. 2033 Redux & Last Light Redux still have more details than other games released in 2018. Such a great franchise.
Yeh I downloaded ark survival evolved and the graphics are so bad it's a joke,then I downloaded metro which is an older game and it looks pretty good in my opinion.
Yeah gamma feels a little high in the redux version. But even then, color palette in redux is generally more pleasing. I don't really get the "oh it's post apocalyptic, everything ought to be grey and dark otherwise it's not moody enough, when redux definitely gives you dark and gloomy when it needs to. I think the first step onto the surface is far better in redux, it feels frozen in time, almost alien with tranquility. In the original it's just a slightly brighter metro.
After playing both I can say, that Original has better atmosphere in visuals. Also sounds are better, for example, when you have silent moments in Original you hear only surroundings, while in Redux you hear some stupid music. It ruins whole tension and immersion. If you have platform to play Metro 2033 (X360 or PC), bypass Redux version and get Original.

If I recall correctly Redux also changes the gameplay, and as you can see it also enhances the frames A LOT. I'm telling you, it's the better experience imo. Stealth is better too.
Is it just me that find that most of the textures from the old one is better? For example, outside (during the first cinematic), in the old it's way darker, which is more scary and have more mood imo

I played both and for me the original had better atmosphere and it was more difficult to survive, without a doubt the best experience is the original, in my opinion.

Except for how some of the character's eyes look I pretty much think that redux looks better. It has superior lighting, the stealth is better, higher quality models, and the environment detail just isn't really even comparable. Hands down the redux version is the way to go. The only things the original really have over it are the fact that there isn't a limit to how much ammo you can carry, and the eyeballs look ever so slightly better on some characters.

Original = Much better atmosphere, scary and depressing.
Redux = Slightly more eye candy, better weapon damage and better ki.
I will go with the original since i want to experience the dense atmosphere, already read the book a few years ago.

Redux has a shit load of gameplay enhancements so it's hard to go back. Plus the atmosphere is still the same, for the most part. Some levels are just during daylight now.

Redux is brighter and smoother than the original. Details look older in the original one and they are more complex in redux. Personally I prefer Redux because it's fresher than the Original. But the Original is still an amazing game
The original looks darker, scarier and much more desolate, like it really should be. The redux version's ambiance looks almost cosy, at times. Also, I find the mutants much more terrifying in the original, especially nosalises and demons. For instance, when that nosalis lands on the train cart, it looks a lot scarier in the original.
Yes I agree. I just finished redux and it wasn’t nearly as scary as the original. All the improved lighting really takes away from the dark ambience of anything could get you from a shadow. The monsters are more detailed but at the same time look more animal than mutant. Like the watchers go from these leathery rotten/mutated beasts to almost cat like with all their hair and refined snout and fangs

Some parts have better atmosphere in original, some it seems in redux. Its pretty inconsistent, and I think there is a place for cosiness mostly only in the base and in the quiet more chill parts of the gameplay. Idk I think this redux version was mostly just a cash-grab, inconsistent and it seems low effort and low quality of work is behind it. I think thats pretty much expected however from remasters or redux versions or w/e.
I fully agree with the Demons, I honestly wish they kept that artstyle for them in all the games, they have a scary Gargoyle look to them which the other games miss entirely.
Honestly, it feels like you're watching 2 different games based on the same scenario. They both do the job very greatly, and sometimes I feel like even if the original looked a lot better in certain aspects, that just makes it more cozy, and takes away from the uncomfortable atmosphere of the game. Although to compensate for that, the outside seemed to be way more dark, in a way contrasting it.

Very mixed feelings. While some things such as monster enemies looking far better in Redux, some characters look worse in the newer version. Just look at this character 2:08 that looks much better in the original. Redux pig is all "pimply" and hairless, while the original pig looked better with fur, as pigs should have. Not that it matters. It's a very mixed bag with some unreasonable changes. Redux is mostly blurry. That ugly FXAA/TAA anti-aliasing. Lighting and shadows were better in the original. For me that's a deal-breaker.

4:33 Not Original Metro 2033 here, it's the Redux version. If you look closely, it pops up the "bullet icon" also known as "buy" icon when he got close to the merchant, which it is the same icon feature that was introduced in Metro Last Light.
They should have made Metro: 2033 Redux with LL graphics, but with the same atmosphere and lighting from the original.

Gotta disagree. He's an average 20 something living in a post apocalyptic setting. He's no stranger to guns as he's been on guard duty against the horrors living in the tunnels and the Dark Ones many times.
When i was 17 year old i hold an AKS74-U, and i could shot it in fully automatic, i got to say, the recoil isn't something big, is just the feeling of the gun shaking a lot amd the weight on your arms, and i am really skinny so, doesn't made much difference to me
I love the smoke and dust particles in the original so it makes me kind of sad to see it all go away in the Redux version. Overall I think that Redux looks much better than the original on the surface and the original looks much better underground in the metro or in the library.

One of the problems of remakes its that developers never get the lighting properly set and in most cases the game looks worst in that area.
What makes metro so awesome is the level design, the environment, and how they made the metro look, feel, and sound like the factions also feel like they fit the environment very well but overall the level design and the environment are probably my favorites

There are a few things I'll disagree with. The mods for your weapons. You do know that you can buy it with continental coins correct, you don't just have to use the gamble system. The skill system I would not at all say is broken at all. I can understand that it's repetitive but ya gotta understand that this game is about "heists" where you steal shit such as diamonds, money, and even break Hoxton out of prison. Every thing else I agree with, although I love the progression system in this game as it is fair and forgivable unlike games such as Bf1 where it takes fucking more than a goddamn month to get to maximum level.

I have both. I played & cleared the original 1st, and fell in love with the Metro Series. Then I played and cleared Metro Last Light. Then years later I played the Redux version. I like both. There is ups and downs on both versions.
My Comparison:
Original to Redux:
- Monsters look more Scarier, finer detailed and a bit darker over Redux.
- Characters sort of look the same, and most look younger over Redux.
- Game overall looks darker & grainier versus Redux.
Which version do I prefer? BOTH. Play the original then play the Redux. They both have there unique characteristics. Though you have to play the ORIGINAL if you want the TRUE to LIFE experience METRO is suppose to give you.
Last Light is a great improvement in Character movement, graphics, mask looks, like seeing smoke coming out of your filter, cleaning the mast etc., details and so on. I can't wait for a METRO 2034 Expansion Pack and a METRO 2035. Though I would prefer it be about 10-15 years in the future. Such as METRO 2055. For example.

I played redux first and then the original, but the gameplay feels so different, they did a really good job with the gameplay. It feels more smooth, weapons, controls, menus, everything is more like a modern game, original is just awful even when in some scenes might look a it better. Play redux is a waaayyy better experience

I just finished the Last Light redux. Now doing the 2033 Redux. I finished 2033 on xbox already, but I had to try it on pc, so I got the redux version. The improved textures, higher polygon models are better, but I just like the more grim and gloomy atmosphere the original Metro 2033 has. The city for example looks way darker in the original than in the Redux, which is kinda sad since the game is supposed to be gritty, not full of lights. That made venturing in the city scary. Nonetheless a good job, but I like some things of the old one better.
ProjectRealityBf2 In the novel, stalkers only venture to the surface during a night. When its daytime, the sun would be too bright, blinding them, and would burn them due to UV radiation. So I think in the original game it's nightime but in the redux version they changed the story.

It's strange how they completely changed the facial appearances of most of the characters. If you played the original game and got to know those characters on sight, you would never recognize them moving to the redux.
Alright guys, I understand that some of you don't like change, and in most cases I would agree, and this is coming from someone who hates the Last Light redux. The 2033 redux is just overall better than the original. The textures are much higher resolution, the character models look more true to Russia, and look more like real people than clean cut ass holes. The lighting is in most places far better. The changes to the environments make the game look far more true to real life, one good example of that would be the comparison between the hot water underground.
The brighter overworld environment in this video helps better reveal what the torn apart Russia looks like in this universe instead of the constant dark underground sequences. The game runs leagues better than the original. Lastly, the particle effects, anti-aliasing, and bloom effects added in the redux greatly improve the atmosphere. And you guys are saying that this is shit?
The only design changes I have a problem with are a select few models (only two of those models in this video) who just overall look dumber than the ones in the original. Other than that, this is the better version.
Nah man, people in redux might look better, but the clothes on (most of) them look kinda standartized and boring. And too shiny. In fact, most of the scenery looks too bright and shiny, especially surface at day.

When I play the original sometimes I can't make out what's in front of me. Especially in a gas mask. That's what makes it even more terrifying. I'm not exactly sure what I'm walking into when I crawl into a tunnel or a dark room. Even with some light it's hard to make out the silhouettes and shadows of an enemy compared to say a table. Death stalks every corner, and I'm on the edge of me seat. Every. Single. Minute. It's amazing.

Original indeed looks better in general, but that's due to the gamma-settings, which-by the way-can be adjusted. Original also stutters a lot more. Redux stutters a lot less, and has a load of gameplay enhancements. Atmosphere is mostly about the same, and some levels are during daylight in Redux.
There's more to Redux's advantages than what I just stated.
It triggers me so much that Artyom lacks his tattered gloves at the beginning of Metro 2033 redux.
The video doesn't do the Redux version justice. The upgrade in terms of assets, lightning and effects like smoke and fog is much more apparent when you have it running in real time. I played them back to back some couple of weeks ago.
That said, the art direction has definitely changed. I can understand people liking the look of certain areas better in the original. I personally think that both versions are worth playing if you like the series. It's a shame that the original game was removed from Steam.
Another thing was that the original was too dark for me in many places. Like to the point I could barely see where I was going during stealth sections. It was virtually impossible to find out where some of the traps were without bumping into them first and reloading a checkpoint. The gamma setting did little to alleviate that. The Redux was much matter in that regard. I could actually see where I was going and it was still plenty dark where it was appropriate. The gamma setting actually perceptibly changes things and has reference images which help you to adjust it.
You have a torch and night vision though..

2024 and I just now finished Metro2033 redux on console, tomorrow starts Last light, after that, Exodus.
I played the series like 3x by now, always with like a 2 year break.
I will play it in a few years again, the series is timeless and really holds up even up today.
The redux versions really are a blessing.

The 2010 release didn't work in my celeron N2806 with Intel HD but this one did splendidly. I welcome the addition of more difficulties and a "playstyle" option, plus there is more exploration in some areas where you have to search keys for safes that contain military ammo and stuff, and also there's more customization for weapons. However, the shinier graphics affects the overall theme of the game and may scare off some players from the original title.

Bilde ich mir das nur ein oder sieht das Original besser aus? Wenn man mal bei dem Vieh guckt was auf den Wagen springt, ist die Haut doch beim Original deutlich detaillierter als bei der Redux Version. Auch der Boden sieht beim original finde ich iwie besser aus als in der Reduxversion und der Typ der da bei 44 Sekunden rumballert hat beim beim original auch iwie schärfere Texturen. ich kann mir nicht helfen aber ich finde das Original sieht sogar besser aus, dazu ist es düsterer als die Reduxversion was die Atmosphäre verstärkt.
Personally I think the only thing the Redux improves on visually is some shadows and outside effects. The original has much better human models and has a dingier atmosphere about it probably due to choices of lighting and particles. The Redux messed up peoples faces. I have heard that the redux did improve on the controls though.

Die "alte" Version kommt viel authentischer rüber, die Szene mit dem kleinen Teddybären z.B. Der Teddy sieht in der alten Version viel ranziger aus.
Für die Konsoleros isses halt okay das die auch mal in schön und flüssig spielen können und nicht in 30 Frames Pixelbrei xD
Naja also die Redux Version sieht um längen besser aus, die Texturen sind höher aufgelöst, es liegt eher an RUclips das man es nicht so sieht, wie groß der Unterscheid ist.
Besonders das Motion Blur macht einiges an Unterschied aus wenn man es spielt, doch bei RUclips lässt einiges an Motion Blur das Video schlecht aussehend wirken
Und es sind viel mehr LIchtquellen in der Redux Version, was die Komplette Atmossphäre weit aus besser wirken lässt

Lots of different opinions here, and it just goes to show that a decision for a game/movie/music album remaster will never be recognized as a successful one by default. Sometimes everything just clicks at the 1st attempt when the creators just get their inspiration out of their system.
The way I see it: Redux has some significant improvements in graphics, but they are sporadic & the newer artistic choices of the creators rarely look as good & successful as the original. In 70% of the scenes of this video I would definitely choose the original. I think the choice between polished and atmospheric is an easy one. I would be more than willing to sacrifice some fidelity in graphics to get a better atmosphere that remains close to the original artistic vision. (As far as gameplay, I can't be sure.)

While I do like the Redux more, it's a very close call. The original is much, much more darker, which makes sense, but the Redux then has changed the graphics in such a way that certain scenes looks much better. I think the monsters look a lot better in the Redux, but then it lights them up way too much. I prefer the UI a lot more in Redux as well.
I need to play this game again.
What I found by very close inspection of the video:
- Textures seem to have the same resolution as in the original :)
- New textures are less crispy because they have less specularity and bumpiness :(
Criticism: Sometimes it is very difficult to compare texture quality here because of:
- AA is OFF in the original version
- Motion blur is ON in the redux version
- Recording resolution is not always 1920 × 1080 but sometimes lower

The only things that bothered me in redux where the character models and how some of them always looked surprised with wide open eyes as well as some off putting lighting but that’s about it.

It's 2019 and I just played both Redux prior to Exodus and got to say, it's hold up REALLY well. 2033 Redux & Last Light Redux still have more details than other games released in 2018. Such a great franchise.

Yeah gamma feels a little high in the redux version. But even then, color palette in redux is generally more pleasing. I don't really get the "oh it's post apocalyptic, everything ought to be grey and dark otherwise it's not moody enough, when redux definitely gives you dark and gloomy when it needs to.
I think the first step onto the surface is far better in redux, it feels frozen in time, almost alien with tranquility. In the original it's just a slightly brighter metro.

After playing both I can say, that Original has better atmosphere in visuals.
Also sounds are better, for example, when you have silent moments in Original you hear only surroundings, while in Redux you hear some stupid music. It ruins whole tension and immersion.
If you have platform to play Metro 2033 (X360 or PC), bypass Redux version and get Original.

I played both and for me the original had better atmosphere and it was more difficult to survive, without a doubt the best experience is the original, in my opinion.

Мне одному оригинал больше нравится? Цвет более насыщенный, мрачная атмосфера - действительно мрачна, а не тусклая как в редокс, а у костров насыщенный жёлтый теплый цвет создаёт уют и покой. Да и озвучка в оригинале лучше, в редокс взяли щегла на роль - вс испортили
Потому что Артем и есть щегол на время игры. У него явно в 24 года не будет голос обкуренного дядьки. Плюс редукса в том,что там оптимизацию завезли.
1:42 - Why original looks more sharp and better? Why in original version, we have better textures? Why in redus version sooo much soap like blur, bloom, lensflare and more shity staff? C'mon guys. Redus version is killing atmosfear and graphics style, but adding better light and shadows + better models and I think, original version is much better if you like dark atmosfear and graphics without soap.

Except for how some of the character's eyes look I pretty much think that redux looks better. It has superior lighting, the stealth is better, higher quality models, and the environment detail just isn't really even comparable. Hands down the redux version is the way to go. The only things the original really have over it are the fact that there isn't a limit to how much ammo you can carry, and the eyeballs look ever so slightly better on some characters.
