    I disagree. Vande Bharat will be Perfect for India. In next 25 years, if India grows at 6-7% annually, our per capita GDP will be $12000 per Annum, which puts us at Middle Income Country at that time. Say if we upgrade our tracks and Vande Bharat will have newer versions doing 200 Km/h, which isn’t slow.
    The cost of running these trains would be much lower compared to the European TGV or Japanese Shinkansen. Hence the ticket prices would be much more affordable, half of the prices of a bullet train. Good for a middle income economy.
    Besides that, India would have access to Bullet trains on the main routes and urban centres, where most of the richer people live anyway. Bullet trains will cater to people who want speed for a price. And then of course we have Flights for longer journeys. Hyperloop already seems to be a failed concept.
    Japan still hasn’t improved much of their speeds in the last 20 years. I don’t see anyone making much progress in this area. Maglevs are still very limited and are as expensive as flights. The max improvement they will bring is 500 km/h. We can work on that front later.
    The current upgrades are perfect for our country imo. When we will become developed, then we can think about these things.

    • @harikrishnanks9366
      @harikrishnanks9366 Год назад +16

      construction of bullet train is also very expensive. Our govt. is spending 1.67 lakh crore for 508 km of bullet train corridor. At this cost it will be extremely expensive to upgrade all indian tracks to be capable of high speeds(250km+).
      India has a total of 50,000km+ operational railway route and around 1.25 lakh kilometers of total track length. It will cost billions or probably trillions to convert them to high speed rail.
      It is impossible for our economy to achieve this in a short or medium term.
      China operates the world's largest high speed rail network of 40,000+km of total route length. It cost them 400 billion dollars to construct. But still this has lot issues mainly the large operating costs. The Chinese HSR is now in 900 Billion dollars of debt. Such project will be an economic disaster for India.
      We also have to keep in mind that all bullet trains run on standard gauges and normal railway is of broad gauge. We either have to upgrade all our tracks to standard gauge which will cost even more money and all our trains that are currently operational must be decommissioned (including VBs) as they are designed to run on broad gauge rail. Any sane person with understand that this will be an extremely stupid idea.
      Now the other way is to develop a high speed train that is capable of running on broad gauge rail. This will also require significant money and resources not only for the research and development of rolling stock but also for the upgradation of tracks, over head electric wires and their tensioning system.
      Practically speaking Vande bharat trains will be operational for a long time (without going obsolete) . So does the conventional non EMU trains. Because each train has a role to serve.
      Correct me if iam wrong.

    • @LplusRatioLol
      @LplusRatioLol Год назад +8

      you are absolutely right. China is definitely regretting sinking a trillion dollars into HSR to Tibet and Other places, which is hardly useful!
      China isn’t a successful economic model which we should blindly follow. We should adjust according to our needs and preferences, while taking good things from other models from different countries.
      Many people ignore the understandings and importance of Gauge in a Rail or Metro system. What we get is content like this which is just blind criticism without a feasible solution.
      In my opinion Bullet trains should be Built In a Golden Quadrilateral Way similar to National Highways were built before this with 4 main centres : Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore-Chennai and Kolkata. We can create a Quadrilateral Route (current Ahmedabad Mumbai train will be a part of Delhi Mumbai stretch) and then also create diagonal routes from Mumbai to Kolkata and From Delhi to Bangalore (cities like Indore, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bhopal,etc. will be covered under this) North south line can be extended from Amritsar to Thiruvananthapuram and East west Line can be extended till Guwahati

    Hear me out, having a lot of VB trains isn't a bad decision. Vande Bharat trains are supposed to run at 200 km/h max because they are conventional non high speed trains. Even in Europe countries, Japan and China, most lines are non high speed conventional lines with maximum speed limits ranging from 160 to 200 km/h. In the US, where only one corridor (Nort East Corridor) is suitable for high speeds (230 km/h), other lines have a max speed limit between 110 km/h to 130 km/h. In China, non HSR ljnes are between 130 - 200 km/h and in Japan, non HSR is capped between 130 km/h (narrow/metre gauge) to 160 km/h (standard gauge).
    Our trains are already running at the speeds of standard conventional trains around the developed world. Let that sink in.
    We cannot have HSR Corridors everywhere. They are most suitable for routes that have a high density usage and I don't just mean railway usage (like Mumbai - Ahmedabad - Delhi, Delhi - Kolkata, Mumbai - Bangalore, Mumbai - Hyderabad, Trivandrum - Bangalore, etc.). VB trains will act like complementary services to the HSR corridors as well as connect the country as a whole. (VB will act like how national highways connect with expressways (HSR)).
    Most of the country cannot have HSR but they can certainly have Vande Bharat trains.

      Bullet trains are going to compete with domestic air travel and to be honest, they can certainly do that very well. So, their price will not be an issue. They will be slightly more expensive than Shatabdis and VBs. A bullet train can stop at 5 to 10 stations in between Mumbai to Ahmedabad and still cover that distance in just 2 and a half hours. Airlines cannot even dream of doing that. Bullet trains are just far more convenient than air travel can ever be, especially for door - to - door travel. Thanks for understanding. IR is on the right path with Vande Bharat trains. We also need proper, high frequency, comfortable, fast and economically suitable regional trains in between many cities. That will eliminate the need for long distance trains to have stops everywhere and having unreserved coaches. Those 2 things eat up a lot of time for those long distance express trains. A robust regional train network is much more preferable to that. Don't know when IR will also have Inter Regio trains like that of Switzerland.

    Bhai mai Finland mai rehta hu aur yaha max speed 200kmph hai par majority trains 160kmph se zyada nai jaati. Par yaha local train bhi 120kmph jaati hai kyu ki stations dur dur hai aur frequency kam hai (every 5-10 mins). Mumbai jaise sheharon mai nai kar sakte ye. Europe mai har train 300kmph nai chalti. There is still room to grow for 160kmph trains. Better tracks so that trains can achieve their top speed more often will improve the average speed overall. One thing which we badly need is tilted boogies so that turns can be done at higher speeds. Average speeds are much more important than top speed. Even if the train only runs at 120kmph, if it can maintain this speed for longer time, it will significantly reduce the duration. For now, Indian trains run on average below 70-80 kmph. There is not much difference in journey duration compared to a bus. Abhi ke liye Vande Bharat acha hai. Tracks improve karna zyada zaroori hai. In theory Vande Bharat can run at 180kmph but the tracks are really bad and old on most routes.

However, due to the Indian standard of platform height, Vande Bharat Express trains are more upright compared to international standards. If in the future all Indian railway stations update their platforms according to future trains, claiming on the current Vande Bharat Express could become difficult.

    Actually this is the agile way of development.
    If you spend too much time and resources in developing the world class technology you'd most likely not meet the budget and time requirements and by that time the latest technology would be far ahead.
    Instead they are developing what can be fast adopted by our existing track framework.
    Once it sets the pace of Indian trains they should upgrade tracks which can handle 300km/hr. Then release newer and better VB trains that can touch 250-300.
    Something similar happens in Germany, they have ice 1,2,3,4 and ice 3 neo and slow trains still exist on lower priority routes. India can also move VB trains to regional trains and release faster trains on long routes. Like imagine Delhi to Bhopal train running every 2 hours.
    Small trains at high frequency help a lot since the bridges and infrastructure required can also be built of lesser capacity and faster and cheaper.
    Combine all these facts the vision of VB trains is amazing and if everything goes well we'll be at a much better place in next 10 years. It's very important to grow at the pace which nation can sustain. Ticket price can be another such factor. Why roll out a technology which can't be afforded. It'll remain unused.
    See the bullet train already coming as a pilot program. Cities of high economic growth will be connected via those on a completely different track so that this old existing track won't need much upgrade. I feel the vision and execution is really amazing.
    The word here is agile development and pragmatic thinking.

    I disagree with you... Government is doing the right thing.
    Let me explain
    India has 64,000 km of rail network. We cannot have complete network of high speed rails.its not economically feasible, what we need is bullet trains on main city routes and remaining network with well maintained trains and decent average speeds. Even european and american countries also use 160 kmph trains, they will be the major trains for common people.
    Consider the time frame of 10-15 Years ahead
    -Railways started replacing old icf with lhb coaches phase wise. by 2030 LHB trains will be major fleet in IR, they are the back bone and will be used as normal daily trains which will be affordable for major people.
    - by that time we will have our DFC's fully operational, so traffic of goods trains will be shifted on to DFC which reduces load and traffic on the network and allows daily passenger trains to travel at high average speed hopefully at 160 top speed.
    - Now coming back to Vande Bharat, these trains will replace services like Rajadhani and Shatabdhi by 2030/2035. and these will in general be premium trains.railways also working on upgrading tracks in major routes, allowing LHB and VB run at more speeds. Vande bharat may run at its max speed at 180 kmph.
    - We will have indegenous high speed trains of 3rd or 4th gen vande bharat with 230 kmph max speed on elevated corridors on some important routes.
    - We cannot build high speed bullet trains on every route and it will not be economically feasible. Only important golden quadrilateral routes like Delhi - Mumbai - banglore- Chennai - Kolkata - Delhi and North South(delhi- Nagpur - Hyderabad- Chennai) and East-West corridor ( Kolkata -Nagpur-Pune-Mumbai) should be sufficient for High speed rail corridors and covers all major cities.
    This way we will have High speed rail network of bullet train along with semi high speed VB and regular LHB trains with decent average speeds.

  • @anilbdas562
    @anilbdas562 Год назад

    Your point is very valid.
    Building world class railway from scratch is very expensive and can be done only by compromising whatever existing facility railway is now providing.
    Vande Bharat is targeted at the luxury bus passengers. And only a miniscule percentage of railway passengers are using it. The speed provided by it is comparable to the regular Volvo services, using the existing infrastructure In a 700 km radius at the most.
    The new sleeper Vande Bharat can extend this to 1200 kms
    Upgradation of track is expensive and can be done only in the routes which are economically viable in a step by step manner.
    Available bullet train technology uses standard gauge which require replacement of all rail lines existing in India or build new lines like Ahmedabad Bombay bullet train.
    The alternative is to develop a bullet train technology that is viable on broad gauge in a step by step manner. Even countries like Japan took decades to jump from 80 km trains to the present generation bullet trains.
    China which already had standard gauge lines is the only exception, where they borrowed heavily to build extensive bullet lines which are highly subsidized and underutilized. Creating massive losses for the Chinese economy.
    Regarding tilting Talgo trains existing platforms cannot accommodate them and will require a separate platform specially made for its specifications.
    The only viable solution in India is to progress from 80 to 130 to 180 km then to 260 km and later on to bullet trains on the existing broad gauge lines which can be upgraded progressively looking at the economic viability and requirements of such projects on a case to case basis.
    One positive aspect of the Vande Bharat project is that it is handled by private sector and we can expect better and faster technology adoption than the bureaucratic Indian railways where nobody is willing to take any risk adopting new technologies

We were forced by the IMF to liberalise our market while China did that on its own by strategically opening its market to America. I really hate China for many things but man our politicians did a big blunder following socialism too seriously. But then again America itself was quite hostile towards us at that time & our relationship with Europe wasn't so good (because of colonial exploitation which was kinda capitalistic as well). So I guess the reluctance of people & politicians towards free-market capitalism or any kind of capitalism was expected. Welfare Capitalism is the only way India can progress today while slowly & steadily removing the socialist hangover that our population possesses. The socialist hangover of our people is the reason they protest against factories, infrastructure projects & progressive policies like farm bills, labour reforms, land reforms, etc. Like in my state people protested against a factory which would have provided thousands of jobs influenced by some politicians for 10 years. And then that factory went away to another state. Now the same people are protesting against the government to provide them jobs. Isn't it dumb? They themselves wanted to do "Pan leaves farming" and now they demand the government to provide them a job? Our people need to understand it's not the job of the government to provide jobs but to provide infrastructure & policies for people to make jobs for themselves. It is the people's duty to provide jobs to others.

Plus, its dishonest to say that only European countries engaged in colonialism when many empires before them (and some, after them) have engaged in it. The European powers were more successful at it because of better technology and strategy.

Maximum it can reach 210 to 220 kmph.There are no trains across the world which can run above 220 kmph in conventional tracks. In reality crossing 200 kmph is very difficult. Its easier and simpler to simply have bullet train tracks across india than upgrade the whole train network for 260 kmph.

    well maybe by vande bharat they mean vande bharat class which with time will include upgraded models like vande bharat mark 3 or vande bharat mark 5 which will be much modern and faster
    Anyways having all very high speed train may sound good but we also have to keep income of general people in mind, those trains will be too expensive for majority of people to ride.

    Just run Vande Bharat at its maximum speed which is around 180KM. A distance of 500KM can be covered in 3-4 hours which is really good. Such as Delhi to Lucknow.
    Keep doing reseach and do trails on Bullet train in big economic hubs.

    only in India 30, 50 years old technology can be sold as some sort of revolutionary technology. Even china hasn't advertised their maglev as much as we do on Vande Bharat train. It's nothing compared trains running in Europe, china, east Asia. But there is no denying that we have come long way in railways post 2014 . Still miles to Go In terms of railways technology.

    • @rishav2205
      @rishav2205 Год назад +3

      How can they advertise maglev when it's just a prototype of whole different & unrelated technology with no guarantee of being feasible while vb is just a modernized version of convention train which is operational not prototype. Trains running in Europe are not convental trains they are hsr With very low passenger ridership indian railway gets billions of ridership evry year can't compare aren't we also building shinkansen?.

    • @IgneousAsh
      @IgneousAsh Год назад

      They should do the advertisement as they have the right to do so as our previous leaders were sleeping when these types of trains were being built why didn't they focus on trains at that time it's not like they didn't have data on what should be developed or not railways lost most of their cargo shipment share to roadways we could have developed this type of tech in 90s or 2000s but there has to be a will to changing and developing something

    Vande Bharat serves many issues for bharat.
    1. It's a initiative for make in India, on technology trials and self reliance.
    2. A step towards further advancement.
    3. A experiment to test real running and how different divisions maintain the systems. In future, we may design maintenance proof systems, or simplify systems.
    4. Whatever, it's our experience and not something thrown at us as inferiors by outsiders.
    Your presentation represents a anti Modi stance, but he is doing his best for us.

    This video doesn't make sense, India has diversity in income level lot more than European or North American countries. We have people who travel in private planes to people who cannot even afford bullock carts now.
    So, Indian Railways takes care of lot of people in lower economic base but it will go to loss even more the passenger section if it doesn't cater to people who can afford to go through their car but travel in train for comfort by paying for reserved seats.
    India is now trying to get more of the people who travel through car and may not ride Indian railways to get on the train by showing vande-bharat and also asking for higher price for the ticket.
    India shouldn't change all trains to vande-bharat or better even if we can afford to do so. The price of ticket in vande bharat is unaffordable to lot of Indians, in future their income level will increase definitely but so will the ticket price with better speed and amenities in the train.
    India will have use the strategy of maybe 30-50 years time depending on Indian growth to actually pull people above poverty lines. India maybe will subsidize the ticket price for poor once it reaches this time but won't happen in 10 year horizon that is considered in this video. Not possible at all with India bureaucracy, we are not china. We have to ask everyone and make most of the people agree with us before moving forward in Indian government.

    Bhai bullet train to India bhi bana sakta hai pr passengers to aane chahiye utne.
    2-3 route pe bullet train operate karne ka kya fayda.

    I politely disagree with your point. Even if current VB trains are outdated after a decade (provided we upgrade certain sections of tracks to 200kmph) they can still be used in other parts of the country. Do not forget that Bharat has a huge landmass unlike small European nations.
    May be we would induct a new, upgraded high speed (200+ kmph) VB version for our major cities, it still gives us room to run current VB train for tier 2 & 3 cities with cheaper fares.
    I do agree that we should stop the production of all non AC coaches, and rather upgrade the existing non-AC trains simultaneously with VB development.

    biggest problem is no one want to use such expensive train,goverment is forcing the public to use it as they are very less tickets(most of them get booked 1 month before the journey ) available for other trains and in order to get confirm ticket public is opting for vande bharat and not for comfort or need

    The current Vande Bharat trainsets that are running are just version 1 and 2. And obviously not all of the upcoming 400+ trainsets are going to be of the same version. As per reports, the 475 trains that the govt has promised include Aluminum body trainsets, sleeper trainsets, tilting enabled bogies, higher top speed,etc. So definitely, future trains me technology to upgrade hone hi waali hai.

    I think even the Indian govt. considering upgrading rail tracks is a win-win situation for me. Let's suppose we manufactured 500 Vande express for the upcoming 7 years there is still plenty of room exist to export semi-high-speed trains from abroad with better design. Observe their technology and efficiency, then finally start manufacturing that design.

    The thing we lack is long term planning and standardization, we should learn from China not some european country. Again i am not saying government ain't doing anything, if we compare current condition to 2014 i think we are in a much better condition (still remember those shitty blue coloured icf coaches).
    We must learn from China they have streamlined manufacturing high speed rail and its infrastructure like some another assembly line, we have similar population,country size and we also are going through same transformation which China did 15 years ago, i am not saying we should give all the contracts to chinese companies, No hell no, what we should copy is their plan, how they actually achieved it.

  • @ajaxjaiswal3442
    @ajaxjaiswal3442 Год назад +2

    Very bad opinion tbh, train tracks getting modernized and trains actually reaching 200kmph should be the current goal of indian railways, we should start with basics like improving delay average from 40 minutes to a few atmost, increasing our average speed from 56 kmph to atleast 100 kmph. Such improvements will be revolutionary from Indian railways standards which runs trains at the same technical base of countries in Africa.
    Your analysis is sub-par as the services of Indian railways although I love trains and IR but my love is tough love.
