Remember, the producers liked to alter reality, so it might’ve been slightly less clear in real life. But I don’t know it’s just a theory
Maddie was definitely Abby’s favourite so she would have a lot more time dancing and opportunities but Melissa would probably not want to argue with Abby because she wanted to stay on good terms, but i think she loves both her daughters the same, but I can see why you would think that.

Abagale Bundy I think it might have been the difference in lighting. There’s more natural light in the studio and just more light overall than where the interviews are done.

Maddie is my favorite dancer from day 1. She looks and danced just like my little sister. She brought good memories back for me. Honestly these kida practically live in my backyard. Just cos Maddie is my favorite doesn't make any of the other girls less talented. My sister did all the same dance competitions they do. My sister also did modeling. She was crowned Miss Pa. Watching Maddie makes me feel young again.
