I remember touching a caviar Chanel as a student and now 41 I still don’t have a Chanel. But if I ever would want to splurge I would go for caviar. Now although I have the means I would rather spend that money on my home and other investments. It was almost easier to spend money on fashion when I didn’t have other priorities even though I have more money now. So my recommendation is almost to get the stuff you want when you are younger cos it won’t feel so prioritised later on. Maybe it’s just me

The Aspinal large Lottie in quilted kaviar is another beautiful option with a similar look as the jumbo flap. Here in the states nobody really knows the brand so even though it feels like quality luxury, nobody is going to steal it. When I leave my area and I'm in the city, I don’t carry obvious luxury bags. The Lottie is perfect.

I think the mulberry lily is a really nice alternative and you can get a second hand one for a few hundred pounds.

at this point, the quality is better so it’s definitely comparable
I have a baguette and I have classic flaps/reissues. The baguette is hands down much better in terms of quality compared to the Chanels

My baguette is better and more comfortable than flap. Only issue I have is that long strap needed and extension chain to be comfortable as crossbody. Otherwise it sits on my boob!

If you want to wear a uniform ( what everyone else has ) buy a Chanel ,Dior ,Hermes etc, there are tons of no big names wonderful quality bags under $ 1000 NEW .There are so many unknown European brands of superb quality.If you need to save money to buy a Chanel ,Dior ,Hermes then you have a loose screw

I am glad to already own a couple of classic flaps and wanted to look for other classic styles. I got the saddle which I love love, and I really considered those that u mentioned - Fendi Baguette | Gucci Jackie | Celine Triomphe | Lady dior (I owned the medium lady dior before) | Loewe Puzzle... For some reason I just can't seem to pull the trigger on them, even at Paris when I knew they are significantly cheaper. Still love classic flaps 😅❤

If you don’t care about the size and yiu want the look I would look at the mini rectangular. It has a single flap which makes it easier to use and the chain allows for crossbody if that’s important to you. Enjoy your purchase!

A Puzzle bag has been discontinued. But Chanel is Chanel, a preloved market frightens me with fakes. One would get a decent bespoke bag for 10K.

I own the Chanel Jumbo and the Medium Classic Flap AND the Fendi Baguette. My MOST FAVORITE bag of all time is my Fendi Baguette in Large. It is so easy and functional to wear. I haven’t picked up my Chanels in over a year. I would sell them, but I am afraid I would regret it and I would NEVER EVER pay those prices today.

DON"T sell the Chanel's, you will regret it . The time will come when you will carry them again. I too went through that phase of not wearing mine (for a few years) and now i am loving carrying them all over again. I agree with you, I got my jumbo classic flap three years ago in the boutique and since then the price has gone up almost $5k. I would never spend that kind of money on it now, it’s just not worth it. The quality that the classic bags had a couple decades ago just isn’t there anymore. If I’m going to spend 12 grand on a bag I’m getting a Birkin….
I bought my First Lady Dior for my birthday this year in medium and I absolutely love it.
I love my Celine triomphe bag but it’s just a little bit small. You can’t fit a whole lot inside

Only thing with Gucci, the post sale service is abysmal. You won’t get any repairs or admission of poor quality. My friend had hardware becoming tarnished on the bag within few months and GUCCI SA suggested it was her fault for using it outside??!!

Not my taste in bags, but I do know you are a Dior gal, but have you seen the new Miss Dior bag in person? It takes elements of the Lady Dior but makes it a very casual bag. To me, it reminds me a lot of Chanel's classic flap, due to the quilted Cannage leather. I do like how Dior included a top handle because that's my favourite way to carry bags

Comparing apples to pears...I do not think the comparisons make any sense, because none of these match Chanel Classic Flap in any way (size, material, shape of the bag, chain length/ no chain). But who really wants and can afford Chanel will go with it. As for the rest, they will know it is just a compromise. :)

@@edithandlez nothing against Fendi.. but to give tips to save and buy something other than big flap Chanel, it is more appropriate to show other Chanel bags of value. I totally loved the pre-loved Chanel option. But to put a list of other bags of lower market status as replacements of Chanel is not the solution. When the mind is set on Chanel no Fendi (even diamond encrusted one) will suffice.
