Totally agree with you on the jewelry front. It's even worth it to investigate a proper jeweler; my engagement ring was designed from scratch by my husband with a jeweler. It's exactly what we wanted, one of a kind, and turned out cheaper than a ready made one from a high class jewelry store.

Hello lovely! Oh I do agree, you’re so right - going to a non-branded jeweller can get you fantastic materials and stones at a great price. Your engagement ring sounds beautiful, what a lovely thing your husband did in designing that 💗🥰 Hugs xx

I had the same experience as you. In fact the ring was so much less than we expected custom designed by the independent jeweller, I was allowed to get a second ring with what my now husband budgeted in the first place 😅 They would have cost double in a store ready made.

A lab grown diamond is a real diamond. They both are made out of carbon, same chemistry. De Beers made it seem that diamonds are expensive and rare. It is all marketing.

Thank you. It’s not “real” vs “lab-grown”. It’s “mined” vs “lab-grown”. I like my “real” diamonds to be a fair price and free of cruelty and exploitation, which a lab can provide.

Diamonds are actually incredibly common on a universe-wide scale we just haven't figured out how to get to all of them yet. So yeah, lab grown are lovely. My wife and I are opting for other stones for ourselves tho. We did basic rings for or paperwork ceremony and a friend who is an apprentice jeweler is working with a lab to get uniquely shaped stones for his collection. Having a pink sapphire heart for her and a teardrop for me. Not sure what color yet. Lab grown is so much fun!

@@kellydouglas7232 , lab grown diamonds. Diamonds that are excavated from earth involves human labor in particular children. It is a dirty business that benefits big names jewelry houses. These houses claim that diamonds are rare and put so much emphasis on value from mined diamonds. It is all lies. Diamonds are abundant in earth and should be cheap. Lab grown diamonds are made in the same process as mined diamonds, the process does not involve destroying the earth and exploiting humans.

I agree on most, but you can buy a new Cartier Tank watch for less than € 5.000 and the service is about €300. So not that expensive. I'd say that Chanel jewelry is a total waste of money, it's costume jewelry for a ridiculous inflated price.

I actually favor Vivienne Westwood. That's what I want for my first biggie. I also know my wife loves Vivienne Westwood so we can share our stuff. We wear different sized pants and shoes but we can share shirts and dresses lol. It's kind of fun because I don't have to decide myself and I consider Westwood a legacy brand. It has prestige, class and heritage imo.
I really like Quay for lower cost but high style sunnies. They're what I usually find out some random celebrity had on when I look up an outfit with a piece I really like.
I will say, as a supplement to the Hermes belt thing: Apple makes an Hermes edition watch so one could match their smartwatch to their belt which could be quite nice imo.

Etsy is my favorite for real metal and gemstone jewelry. I prefer silver, and the amount of genuine artisans who create one of a kind pieces is amazing. Be smart and make sure you find someone who communicates well, and you’ll get something that no other soul alive has, that will last you long enough to be an heirloom!! I adore portrait cut diamonds, because they look like a shard of glass but won’t break, and they’re actually easier to find preloved!! Costume jewelry will never be something I go for because I become VERY attached to my pieces, and have cried over items breaking 🤧🤣

Hey Lovely Sophie! Love watching your videos. I have looked at Idyl recently since I have seen them on several Influencers feeds. It looks like the biggest size is .20 or .40 for a pair. Canadian $1190. For comparison, I went to my jeweller and for lab grown diamonds, VS, F colour .75 for a pair, the price was $1210. So it might be worthwhile checking out a local jeweller for a pair of studs for a bigger size.
As for the modular part, you could do an add on to your studs purchased elsewhere, most likely. I thought of ordering an add on to see if they fit.
Just a thought if your viewers wanted to shop around for best bang for their buck since diamond studs are so classic.

the quality might not be the same or as good as the Idyl. Cubic zirconia used to be the big thing back in the day and you could detect them at 25 paces. They just don't sparkle the same. Of course the cut of the diamond is extremely important to the sparkle as well. I've seen lab made diamonds in the shops and they haven't grabbed me.

Can you make a video about the payment methods in physical luxury stores? How do you pay for a 5K bag (I mean the transaction itself) assuming that you have the money in your bank account. Do debit cards allow you to make such a big purchase? Do you need a credit card with sufficient credit? What about cash? Needless to say that I have never been in a luxury shop and that's one of the reasons.

💯 agree with you. Also the cartier love bracelet, I kinda feel like EVERYONE is wearing them and there are so much dupes and fakes around, it's like you cannot even tell, when they are wearing them, if it's real or not! I would like to recommend the coach bracelet with little C's on it, it is giving cartier love bracelet vibes but it's around 95€ and it looks soooo classy.. great video as always Sophie! Much love from Austria! Xoxo ❤️

My biggest investment is in jewelry. You're right, Cartier, VCA, all of those items are oversaturated in the market and on social media, so they've lost all appeal for me. I have a local jeweler who I go to for more interesting pieces and custom-made jewelry. Even brands like LeVian or Effy have interesting statement pieces that you won't see on everyone, and are great quality.

I would avoid wearing a Coach bag like the tabby with a Hermes belt as they each have large and very identifiable logos. It's confusing to the eye. JIMO and sorry to but in there... same as I wouldn't wear LV monogram with an Hermes or Dior belt. It's just screaming logo logo logo.

For anyone wanting to buy a decent watch, they should really do their homework (the majority of watches need the battery changing regularly whereas the likes of Rolex and Hublot are self-winding). With regards to Rolex, my husband bought a brand new Submariner 20 years ago brand new for under £2,000 at that time. Currently he has been offered over 6 times that price for it. Servicing by Rolex is currently £650 plus vat, not £1,800. I looked at buying an Omega 21 years ago but the Rolex was the same price - the Rolex is now worth considerably more than I payed while the Omega would be worth peanuts! However, it is worth noting that brand new Rolex watches are becoming more and more difficult to source.

    • @katemiller7874

I don't think that luxury/ designer and contemporary are mutually exclusive! I have a Loewe bag, the brand is from the 1800's, but the Puzzle bag is contemporary (but is fast becoming a classic, imho).
As for jewellery, there are some iconic pieces out there (I love the Cartier Amulet), but these brands also do generic styles, so if you're after pearl earrings, a tennis bracelet or a solitaire pendent, I'd go for a comparable quality from a lesser know jeweller. As for lab grown diamonds, I agree with others that they are real or true diamonds. They are chemically identical, have the same flaws, etc, as mined diamonds, but are cheaper because they are cost less to produce that mined diamonds cost to mine (and generally more ethical).
I love scarves, so I have several silk scarves, mostly ones that aren't instantly recognisable as "designer", but all ones where the colours/patterns really spoke to me, and I wear them year round as I often have a scarf in my hair in the summer months.
