  • In this video, Dr. Ayesha delves into the topic of MCT Oil and its impact on brain health, exploring whether it has beneficial or detrimental effects.
Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil has been gaining popularity in recent years, especially in the health and wellness community. MCT oil is a type of oil that is derived from coconut oil and contains medium-chain fatty acids, which are easily digested and metabolized by the body.

A bit of an oversight for a neurologist to forget to mention that MCT has been prescribed for managing epilepsy for 100 years... for cases where drugs aren't working well. The recent evidence and reviews strongly support the notion that MCT gets into the brain and works as fuel; in elderly people, glucose nutrition in neurons becomes weaker.

Stephan Cunname has published cognitive testing after 2 tablespoons MCT treatment for a few months, if I recall. Not much dispute these days that ketones are superior nutrition for brain cells in elderly people. MCT is one route to shift in that direction. Intermittent fasting (breakfast at noon) is another since the liver is depleted of glucose storage after 10 hours or so.@@GurungyNoHamuster

I believe most people take MCT oil for a quick boost while on a ketogenic diet. From what I understand, MCT oil is converted into ketones in the liver and can enter the mitochondria directly increasing ATP. Since ketones can cross the blood brain barrier, it seems to clear any “brain fog”. If anyone here fasts for longer than 16-18hrs, build up to 1Tbsp of C8 MCT and take it near the end of your fast. Please report back and tell me how you feel.

No mention of Stephen Cunnane' s studies on the ability of ketones to counteract the aging brains energy gap. Yes, metabolic flexibility from a mildly ketogenic diet is probably preferable. It's early days, but still I wouldn't dismiss MCT as a useful tool to offset the glucose shortfall, until something better comes along.

    • @user-yp1ij7oi5f
      @user-yp1ij7oi5f 7 месяцев назад

Yes if there is someone who knows then there is Dr Stephen Cunnane. I have read dozens articles published in scientific journals, there is a lot more and it is now estimated he wrote more than 350 of them.
There are a dozen videos on youtube where he explains all about one needs to know to start taking MTC to help to counteract the 10% brain energy gap of asymtomatic aging brains which is refered as mild cognitive impairment which precedes the diagnosis of Alzheimer deseas. He patented a ketone drink, Nestle started to comercialized it 'under 'brainExpert'', 15 ml twice a day for mild cognitive impairment. 15 ml a day is not a lot, but it was necessary to be that low to avoid at all cost diahrea. It is stated that's useless if you don't exercise, if you don't socialise and have no support, A google search of University of Sherbrooke and Stephen Cunnane will lead you to see his research.
I'm not sure anything better will come out soon. MTC play an essential crucial role to nourish baby brain long before birth and years to untill he becomes an adult. Dr Cunnane explains this very clearly in a podcast video here on youtube.
Beside 5 millions for a study with 300 people, the major issues with MTC oil are to overcome risks of diahrea. I have a condition prone to diarhea following a surgery to remove the colon to avoid cancer. To avoid to have diahrea every hour I relied on soluble fiber, it really helped when applied.
10 years later I began to have severe symtoms of immediate memory loose before covid but could not take care of that because I had to take care of my wife who had cancer and died when Montreal was on a lock down. Things kept worsening for me, missing air plaines, loosing computer, cell phones and the list could go on and on. At the end of this summer, 5 years after the first time I talked to my doctor about my memory, it was impossible to book an apointment. She offered me to prescribe a memory pill.
I began to take MTC oil after seeing a video of Mary Newport in September. I had a brain scan done in Mexico on november 28th. The results were devastating. The radiologist took a good time to show me that I was in serious condition, he had never a brain so petrified prior a diagnosis of AD.
I brought with me from Canada three suitecas loaded with dietary soluble fibers proteins and very high grade Urolethin A and spirilina. I began to take 20 ml of MTC every 3 hours. Now I take 30ml, and I take half avocado to avoid stomac cramp. I will cut that in half by December 20. I hope that cut that down by another half by january first to around 100 ml a day. Today I went out to look for a litre of canabis oil. Memory improved a lot since I started that november 28.
It"s seems that most of the cells didn't die, but will the Mito Pure which is 500 mg of Urolethin A hold it's promise to recycle these starved old cells? I will have a scan done in April before leaving Mexico. I will go down to Sherbrooke University where Dr Cunnane has his laboratory and show him the 2 scans. I'm sure that my touting with fibers over a decade will trigger his curiosity. I probably over did it, but I managed to avoid diarhea. Will he be interested to see the glucose and ketones flow? If yes I stay in Canada for a while, if no, stay with my kids and step sons and grand kids for a while before I flying back to Mexico and wait for them to visit me for seasonal winter hollidays

Mitochondria decoupling. Thats what is the most important benefit of consuming MCT oil. In other words MCTs gives your Mitochondria a break and tells it that it's ok to waste fuel as heat, and repair and relax instrad. That is what Ketones does. According to doc Steven Gundry.

    I don't understand your logic.
Studies don't change the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of a substance.
The best study is a study of one, if someone starts eating some coconut oil in their diet and sees an improvement what then would be your recommendation?
If they start eating it and see no improvement what would be your recommendation?
I seem to recall reading studies years ago saying that when someone was functioning on ketones their brains had a longer time before damage occurred when having a stroke and the penumbra was possibly less, there was a longer time available to restore blood flow or oxygenation.
    Is my memory faulty?
What about people who are already using coconut oil in their normal daily cooking?
Is not recommending it the same as recommending the stopping of use?
Or are you being neutral here?
Do you have any thoughts on ketones?
A ketone diet is known to be beneficial for people who have epilepsy, did you think about these studies?
In the studies you referred to, did they test for blood ketone levels or not? Did they restrict carbohydrates?
Did they keep track of their diet? Did they categorize people with high insulin levels?
    Many questions.

    • @bright-flame

Yes, doctors give SUCH bad advice these days, and the way they do studies it's like the institutions want you to be sick. This is the EXACT truth... the best studoes come from tests on MYSELF and people I KNOW personally and often fly in the face of doctors of "medicine".
If I followed their advice I would be worse. I started to get better when I questioned their b***sh*t and started looking into holistic health outside of the very controlled, often maliciously and artificially so, academic study realm of peer reviewed kedical journals.
People make entire long documentarylies on just how so this so-called "science" is actually corrupted, and often destroys the scientific method from even being used.
I say, if I want a study done... I do it myself!
