Reminds me of Gasquet when he was 18 to 20. Beautiful strokes and all court game from both of them. They both construct rallies and then finish with the clean winner.
I just saw him play yesterday against Djokovic. What a player! It's a joy to watch him. He's got a beautiful style with his elegant backhand. I'm a fan.
Totally agree with the title of this vdideo and it's sentiment. Lorenzo is an artist on the court..in the tradition of other great Italian players...e.g., Adriano Panatta.
No question Musetti has lovely fluid strokes and great touch, but he is missing the massive power that Federer had at the beginning of his career. Federer had everything Musetti has when he came onto the circuit, but his power--his accurate power--more than anything was the reason he became the dominant player. The tour hadn't really seen that type of power at that point. In every generation, a player comes up that sets the power bar above what it knew the previous generation. Think Connors, Lendl, and Sampras and how easily they ran through players in early rounds. Players couldn't handle that power because they hadn't seen it before. The problem with Musetti is he isn't all that powerful for his generation. That bar is being set by players like Alcaraz and Sinner. One way to notice this is by watching a Musetti match and observing who is doing the most running. Musetti is often on the run in his matches. And while he certainly is fast, he's not super fast like Alcaraz or Federer, for that matter. But before we write him off, let's see how Musetti develops. He's worth watching.
Interesting comment. With these current surfaces, it is easy for Musetti to have a difficult life compared to those who hit harder. But you can never say ...
And yet he has got the upper hand of both Alkaraz and Sinner in huge matches. Mental strength was his weakness but that has improved a lot over the last 6 months, coming through in vital 'clutch' moments. No point comparing to Novak, Federer or Nadal either, as these three players are an anomaly, and there is no player in the modern game that can hold a touch to their genius, even when they're 10 to 15 years their junior.
Interestingly, in the last few months I’ve noticed that Musetti has been pumping up his power. But perhaps more importantly is his decision to take more chances closer to the lines. Earlier in the year he was doing the bulk of the running. Now he’s made the decision to get his opponents running. That means he’ll be taking more chances, but he’ll probably have higher rewards, and a longer career.
@@banburydrumtuition8651 I saw the highlights of Musetti beating Alcaraz this year (though Alcaraz beat Musetti in a challenger in 2020), but Musetti lost the only professional match he's played against Sinner in straight sets in 2021 in Antwerp.
People also said this about Dimitrov at the outset of his career. Not to diss about Dimitrov's career and achievements per se, but we have to be exceedinlgy weary about fomenting such comparisons. That being said, I have always enjoyed Lorenzo's spectacular shotmaking abilities.
Musetti is one of the best tennis players of his generation..,..and he can improve again and again....I guess he' ll be among the first 5 tennis players in about 2 years...or maybe less.....His way of playing tennis Is really marvellous, gorgeous, fantastic Forza..@lore_musetti ....🔥
Although I like Musetti, I would never put him in the same conversation as Fed. Musetti's backhand is elegant but the rest of his game is coarse. And he struggles mightily to get power on his forehand. As a result, he can't win tournaments because he exerts some much effort to win points on his forehand. Technically, Fed is perfect. Everything he does looks effortless. No one past or present comes close to Fed. He's in a class all to himself.
He needs to add a lot to his game to be mentioned with Sinner and Alcaraz. Entertaining to watch and I love his backhand, but not quite ready to consistently beat top competition regularly. Guy's only one game over 500 for the year (21-20 after the US Open), and has 11 first-round losses this year.
I'm an Italian and I admire Musetti greatly, but I must say that, for me, the player with the most elegance and effortless power at the moment is Tim Van Rijthoven.
It’s as high an insult to Federer to have someone compare Musetti to him. Musetti is a solid player but he is not in the top tier and probably never will be. Mentally, he is not a very strong player. The so called elegance doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t have strong results.

All the most Beautyfull shots from last two years are coming from Musetti

Alcaraz is power definitely. But I will wait a bit for Musetti and make a more accurate metaphor for him.

Musetti is great. Definitely now we can say it’s the Big 4.
Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, Musetti.
No one said that but ok
are you joking or drunk?
Hopefully can avoide the injuries and become a consistent threat ASAP. This is a blockbuster player who people will pay to see
So glad the one handed backhand isn't completely extinct, down the line is the best shot in tennis!
Musetti is very good player tennis and good person, good luck and god bless you always where ever you are! Go,ahead ragazzo mio.more kisses. 👍👏🇸🇽🇮🇹
He is great. Right up there with Sinner, Alcaraz, and Brooksby for me.
Brooksby 😂😂😂

Qué tiene Italia que produce últimamente grandes jugadores todos muy jóvenes
Very good talent but never compare to Federer. Pure class and one of the best tennis prospects.
Musetti is one of those rare players capable of sudden accelerations.
Seems to be something with the Italians. Fognini is a nutcase just like this
He's good, can be great !
I just love him....a real artist!!! xoxo
I can see Lorenzo asserting himself aggressively on the red stuff, but he is pretty good on hard too.
Maradona of tennis, magical talent.
fantastisch mooie speler
Don't compare this guy to Federer, he is very workman like in comparison.
That's true, but his style does resemble Federer's
No one can play like Roger, he is the legend of tennis

Hopefully, his beautiful tennis translates to titles. Does he need more "killer instinct" and maybe , more coaching? One avid Musetti fan here. ❤
Musetti: best backhand in town...
We are still looking for a next Federer, I see.
I mean, he is good-looking, but not comparable to the elegance of Fed.

il suo dritto è migliorato molto
Roger federer supercoach
Cioè, a Napoli il diritto andava, e come se andava...
He is great his backhand is amaZing yep very elegant and very handsome not related to Federer
He still need more power and mental prowess in his tennis i think he can beat anybody...
Forehand is powerful but backhand is still weaker than two handers
Shapo its more
Fantástic backhand, but i hate these new forehand from next gen
I don't like those forehands either. Federer dismantled those forehands pretty easily when he was still playing.
called it from day 1.
got so much hate tho.
Dimitrov
not close to Federer's elegance.. good player though
his forehand is ugly , really far away from Federer. The closest player near Federer in term of beauty is Shapovalov.
Shapovalov's game is ugly asf. Wtf are you looking at? :))

More like feliciano lopez
Federer? Nah, he more reminds me Wawrinka.
i dont think his game is beautiful at all, the way his elbow flares out on the forheand is really weird. He is a really good player tho.
