In today's video I decided to try to and install AtlasOS my low end laptop to see if an optimised version of Windows with little to no background apps or processes will help improve our FPS and performance on Minecraft.
If you saw my last video where I showed you How To Optimize Low-End Laptops and Boost Minecraft FPS I tried many things with not much luck so in this video I swapped out the SSD and tried a new OS. This is a series of videos I do on my channel where I get an old laptop and see how I can make it better for Minecraft PVP.
Lets see what results I get using this custom version of Windows 10 20H1 from the same people that bought us Tweak Central and Azurite.
This version of Windows optimises Windows settings, removes all bloatware from the OS and removes privacy intrusive telemetry services from Microsoft.
The specs of the PC I'm using to run AtlasOS:
Intel Core i3 330M CPU, 8GB DDR3 RAM, Integrated graphics, 250GB SSD
Hope you guys all enjoy this new type of video if you guys could like subscribe and comment that would really mean a lot on a video so the video reaches as many people as possible. Make sure to check out my last videos for context

Notro is one of the most chill RUclipsrs I've ever seen, actually cares about his community & doesn't say anything bad towards cracked players. Awesome
yha + he is my favorite youtuber too
same
agreed :)
He doesn't even know what he is talking about lol
@@winstroom yes and no, He tries to make sure everything he does is safe for his community and if he mistakenly does something wrong he always comes up with a sollution
Something you may want to try in the Minecraft settings is turning smooth lighting levels off from my experience that says let my Minecraft run better. If you get lunar clients you can turn on lazy chunks which basically means you can keep walking if your chunks don’t load in which can be a little easier on older devices.
Lunar “clients”
something he should turn on is fast render
@@king_creeperz clearly english isn't their first language, give em a break.
@@iamb0 yeah a lot of youtubers always forget the optifine performance settings.
@@Liv-rz4pv or autocorrect just no him
you should try foxos , its got a LOT less drivers and compatibility but hey its the most performant, Also for the sake of this series , try to get arch on that thing with a tiling wm like dwm and lets see then, thought that would be interesting!
a general tip is to not use 2 render distance as the system has to update chunks more frequently with lass than 4 render distance. Loving the series so far
Ah that makes a lot of sense thank you
I have a suggestion i have dell vostro 3468 and 4gb ram no graphics card but i used to play minecraft with 8 render chunks and i get 100+ fps but a frequent lag its because i am on windows 10 default version and my laptop dont have sufficient memory.
Another awesome video as usual
Less gooooo waiting for this for a long time
If FPS is jumping up and down, you need to cap the framerate around what you think the average is. I would try to play at locked 40 FPS for that laptop, maybe 35. Less stuttering is better than occasional high FPS followed by low FPS.
Linux is not for everybody, but if you're experimenting, and trying to get the best FPS out of an ancient laptop it's literally the perfect use case, especially for minecraft. I managed to get my 2008 laptop running at around 120 fps with a low render distance after months of tweaking.
There is even a Wayland Patch for 1.13+ and bundled with it and a Free Sync monitor the game runs SO MUCH smoother.
did you use the smart animations option? in your other videos you had it turned off (it doesnt render animations that are not visible so it decreases the load on your gpu and cpu)
I think u could've increased ur render distance cuz all of ur lag spikes were from rendering chunks. Having 5-6 chunks RD can make it run without any problems. Also idk if u did it, but mip map lvl take like a BIG CHUNK of the fps, maybe u forgot about it
please try Lubuntu, Arch Linux, Zorin OS and NimbleX on the low end pc you bought from ebay. these are some of the best low end Linux OSs, i hope you make a comparison at the end of the video on the best os untill you find the best for Minecraft fps. this is more content on the same $250 pc. also if you try it on the dell laptop I'll be thankful!
you can also try Elementary OS which is light but have better look which take little more recourses than the others above.
I recommend maybe trying to use forge or badlion, in saying that if you can get forge working things like forge phosphor, tex fix, foam fix, patcher, better fps and some other ones. anyways great vid :)
You should put advance system setting to best performance and click on smooth font
It works very well trust me
Hi NotroDan, i recommend you to take the max framerate to 120fps. Disable the Dynamic FDV and turn on Fast Render. Anyways, you're the best youtuber in performance boosting. I like your videos
Why disable dynamic fov?
@@eMarce1. Constant view updates, might help fps. Not to mention its annoying for pvp
@@skekch its not annoying, and it dosen't deacrese anything
I actually advise using Vsync, Locked FPS is always better than unlocked FPS, You can't tell any difference between 60 and 120 on 60hz display.
@@frozenturbo8623 you can see a difference a bit
Turn on fog and go to settings click other on the optifine settings and set your resolution lower to about 1280x720 or lower. You can make a custom resolution and set it your minecraft resolution.
Finally a test on a laptop :)
Does this work without ethernet
Try using sodium with iris it'll probably boost your fps or make it really stable and give you a small fps boost, but it's only for 1.16
Is anyone aware of a stripped down faster Windows for audio / music / media production? Where frame rate, graphics is not important beyond very basic speed specs. Pixels, screen space and or multiple screens are important tho.
Make sure you enable Fast Render and Smooth Animations in "Performance" in video settings. That should give you a bit more fps. Also, SmoothFPS *may* decrease fluctuation but will decrease your fps quite a bit.
U could get like 80fps just by turning on VBO on
@@Kuttapanhere Yes you can, good idea.
do you know any good alternative for rufus? preferably one that doesnt require the admin password?
Turn dynamic updates on since that makes it so that the chunks render in when ur standing still but when u have that off it only renders when ur moving so if u turn that on it will lag at the first few seconds and then sky rocket lol
omg i just notice every time subscribe is mentioned in video the subscribe button flash in rainbow colors lol😂
Wow 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥, I could put this on my mother laptop 😶
How much disk space does Atlas install with? My 32GB eMMc drive can't be upgraded and it is making the laptop useless with regular Windows because it can no longer update without resetting it every time.
Nice thanks i will try this os now
I would recommend a linux distro over this, alternative windows ISOs are in a legal gray area, and they're still more bloated than they need to be.
Turn VBO's on it almost double your fps , its below the vide bobbing option
bro, i sugguest you trying revi os, its like this os, but like full, it can update its like having full widnows without the performance lose
I am having same specs and i am getting fps drops often and full-screen just crashes the game, help me notro pls
Go to lunar client settings and set everything to lowest (especially lazy chunkloading)
Lazy chunk loading makes it unplayable
I will try that
lazy chunk loading to highest* If it's on lowest it will load chunks faster, which looks better but takes a toll on performance.
@@skekch lowest
@@KusakabeAtsuya lowest means it will be on the lowest setting for lazy chunk loading u want it on the highest for the best fps but it scales between diff pcs/laptops i got like 120 with it on highest on my low end laptop but when i use on my pc i get less then my fps with it on lowest
I have a question, what are you recording the game, for example, when you test a computer without a program, say plis
It's a capture card
You should enable "Hide foliage" and "Use VBOs".
Try turning on fast math and fast render that helps a lot with fps because it worked with my laptop with almost the same specs as yours (4gb ram 500g hdd Intel he graphics and Intel i3 350m 2.27ghz.)
fsh
Try Ghost Spectre Windows 10/11 Ultra light
PS love your vids
Try lowering the resolution it dramaticly increases ur fps. Jus go to minecraft settings then video settings then other and you will find there fullscreen resolution and set it to 640 480 res
I love all notrodan texture pack☺️
boosted my laptop INSANE!!
VBOs are turned off for some reason? That should give you good fps boost, although I think, even if you have the skills to debloat windows, it won't be as comparable as playing using Linux.
_Im also seeing a fair bit of people using linux in hypixel now_
damn how do you see people using linux on hypixel lol, cuz I use Manjaro but I never talk about it on the server
@@patrickguy33 one player I met has a nickname with "UseLinuxNow" in bedwars lol. I told them I do too. On other servers, I do ask some people if they use Linux, most of the time I get 3-4 yes answers out of 30 players. And they play hypixel games too!
Go to video setting and turn on VBO's it boost your fps like crazy
Hi pls make a video on how u recorded so smoothly on your low end laptop plss
bro please help i need to do some configurations in ms config but it is missing in atlas os and i don't see any options to enable it plz help
Maybe try LabyMod with Atlas OS or Linux Mint? I used to use a laptop with similar specs and LabyMod got 60 fps with 6 chunks
you should try revi os it is also a customized version of windows 10 and it gave me more fps than ubuntu and zorin os
@notrodan please set fps to unlimited vsync just sets the fps depending on the refresh rate of your laptop I got 200fps once on my 6 yr old pc 4gb of ddr3 ram 1600mhz nvm what I said you do you your the best yt
i have an i3-2328m with intel hd 3000, will i get the same performance as you or it will be slower???
Which recorder are you using in this on atlas os to record minecraft.
which screen recorder you use for low end pc
How does it compare to GHOST ᴻ Spectre's Superlite build? Can this run Forza Horizon 4? Or is this specifically designed for MC?
NotroDan is slowly turning into a tech channel lmao
Hello arch user, moving to Gentoo or LFS soon?
u should put in lunar settings lazy chunk loading on lowest for highest fps boost
I installed atlasos on my hp x360 convertible, and as a whole it runs well....but randomly my mouse/screen will go batshit crazy. ?Has anyone else experienced this, or would I have to record it?
I whold like to see a comparison between this and linux
In optifine settings make sure to use VBOS cuz it increases fps
Hi men i download altas os to my pc and i cant play Minecraft how i fix this someone can help me?
Ngl… for an old system a 2.13 base processor with 4 threads and an ssd AND 8gigs of ram… id say its really nice.
Not roasting or anything but did you update the ram and the storage a little?
*Edit:* Thank you for the benchmark i might install it on an old laptop i got laying around
i have a very good tip change the resolution of your screen to 1280x720 or change in minecraft optifine other settings
you should test out the new version of atlas os!
does installing this removes anything that we use? like i have a lot of things at my computer that are so important does installing this removes them?
Notro, pls i beg pls turn on vbos in settings it near the vsync option. On a low end pc it nearly triples your fps
Bro, I Have A Sony Vaio VGN-CR14GN 15yr old laptop, it only supports till Minecraft 1.16.5 With 20 Fps Which OS should I try out? (Currently windows 8.1 64 bit)
i have atlas os but i can't play minecraft because i need to be conect to a microsoft account but we can't with atlas os
Dan, there is a lot of stuff to improve in minecraft settings, im not making this comment to advertise or anything, but I have a video about that which has the best settings for 1.7 and 1.8.9 and without uglifying your game
oh yeah last thing, I also included the best settings for lunar client
Use badlion on a low end pc it just improves fps I know that because I couldn’t run lunar on my spare pc that is low end but badlion was instant constant 60 fps in duels lobby the pc has a i3 gtx 570 4gb dd4ram 500gb hdd windows 10 ltsc I actually have only installed network drivers a 300w power supply this pc helped for when I needed to troubleshoot my gaming laptop since once my laptop was constant Bsod on startup
Please help the os is not working for any minecraft is keep crasging
hey dude, you should try Windows 10 AME. its concentrate on privacy but minecraft works too. i got 60-90 fps
Bro forgot optifine 💀
A little question. How can i can install Turkish language pack ? .
shoulda used sodium, can use all the of the system when optifine only uses half of the graphics processing
maybe try the foxOS i saw it somewhere and it seams very good i think :)
what did you use to record this video?
Video idea :tlauncher vs actual minecraft
I can't change my windows for some very much big reasons can you make a video on some sort of client that helps to increase fps for 1.16.1 . if possible it would me really helpful .....................
please showcase moonly it doubled my fps on an i5 w/o any gpu
How to enable mobile hotspot in atlas os.
Can I use all windows supported apps e.g. Adobe Photoshop and Autocad on Atlas OS? Is anyone tried it yet, please reply. Thanks
your video is actualy pinned in the AtlasOS website
@3:58 So it can't get security updates? mm
Plz next use Vbos and use fast render and disable swap color and artenet blocks and yeag i got same pc playing with it on 260 fps i swear
someone please tell this guy about manjaro. I literally went from 100fps on windows 11 to 150 on atlas os to 500 on manjaro

Or you can install drivers on windows update da?
Love from India ❤️🥰
Man has the same laptop as me but it is the 1545 version what a coincidence
How much fps will I get in this is 8gb ram i3 2330m Nevidia 410m
What's your laptop specifications ?
Would have been good to do an actual comparison between the 2..
to be honest, AtlasOS is basically like Windows server but with some pre loaded little stuff
Can you make a video on valorent benchmark on atlas os
How did you get that startmenu
bro can you make an video on how do you record minecraft
Optifine is a legend thing on 1.15 intel hd 3000 everything off chunk 2 i was getting full stable 60 fps it wasnt even lagging
Bro my wifi is not working on atlas os do u have any fix ?😭
I recently got my hands on an ssd, and i installed atlas os on it. With all my programs, my pc boots in 7-8 sec.
How did you uncap the fps on the laptop?
Mine is capped at 60 and no matter what I do I can't change it.
turn off VSync
Bro i play on intel 3000 hd graphics and play on 300-400 with optimization and without make my game pixel
can u show us how u record on the low end laptop??
I am unable to install minecraft.
I havent updated drivers
You can get more by setting the max fullscreen regulation to the lowest possible (800x600)
640x400 is better
Adding to this, turn the display resolution lower and maintain scaling. (Intel Graphics Control Panel)
That would make the game more CPU bound and can probably not push out any more FPS unless CPU upgrade.
@@frozenturbo8623 Or get a eGPU. I personally would consider buying an eGPU before upgrading the cpu
