Oh yes! It's amazing. I put it in plastic bags while I'm storing things and it completely stops the tarnish. Here's a link to some if that helps: amzn.to/450CjOl
Great job! However, I think a pegboard system would work better for you. You could even use it for earrings. Put them in little bags & punch a hole in the top if they don't have one already & then hang them. You can sort everything by color too. Plus, you can have a variety of sizes of the boards. Suggestion: Donate your unwanted jewelry to a charity that helps women get back on their feet by dressing for success using your jewelry accessories when they go on job interviews..
Thank you. I already have another storage solution in mind to make so stay tuned for that. I have already given away my old jewellery. We don't have one of those charities close to where I live unfortunately. Hopefully it will find its way into the hands of someone who will appreciate it.
That was one Herculean task, Carol! Are you familiar with Cass Aarssen/Clutterbug? She’s all about understanding your natural organization style and working with that. Sounds like your earring storage situation needs adaptation for you! She’s helped me work out systems that work better for me, and even better helped me understand hubby’s organizing style. That means less conflict for us!
@@closetplayimage Thanks Liz. Yes, I have watched her videos - she's great. I have some ideas in mind for how to make this storage work better for me. I just need to find time to implement!

My husband made me a window screen with a beautiful wood frame for my earrings with French hooks to put into the tiny holes in the screen. It's rustic looking and I love it so much and easy to make.
I make things out of corrugated cardboard and a few years ago, I made a circular thing for my earrings using a screen too. The base was too light. I had to fill it with a bunch of nickels and... voila! The contraption looks very similar to a Ferris wheel.
I can do relate to all of you. I love creating pieces. I’ve given a lot away, sold some privately and look at peg boards everyday of accumulations of created pieces. I get a good feeling looking at all I’ve done. I have so much more beads and findings waiting to be used. 😀

We used the KOMPLEMENT drawers from IKEA. $25 each. My husband made a frame to fit as many drawers as I wanted!! I love it. They are so thin, perfect for all jewelry. Except my big chunky cuff bracelets. Can't wait to see what you end up making. Love your videos
Thank you Alice. Sadly we don't have Ikea here in New Zealand. I really wish we did. I love those drawers! I have something in mind to make so stay tuned.
Thank youuuu! You presented so many helpful ideas to deal with a very real issue. I have a huge mess of jewelry that has accumulated in several rooms but you have inspired me to take the first step :-) Love the music as well - beautiful and poignant songs.
Thank you so much, Diane. I hope you get your jewellery under control soon. I've actually decided that the little drawers weren't for me so I've come up with a new solution which I'll be sharing soon.
I bought two of those wall mount racks for holding spools of thread. They work great for necklaces, bracelets, and rings. For earrings with hooks, I use an old cylindrical metal candle holder-- it has lots of decorative holes to hold earrings as well as the top edge.
Carol, I enjoyed this video so much. For all the time it took you to sort everything out to I guess some nostalgic and dear memories, and some other sweet moment in life that came alive once again, for keeps or even for a brief look or just to say goodbye. Sort of a life review just there, maybe purging, decluttering...and definitely so gratifying. Acknowledging and letting go. Thank you so very much!
I inherited a large jewelry box that has drawers, and two revolving necklace hangers on the inside. Also a ring organizer on top. All enclosed behind stain glassed doors. I use this for the pieces I wear frequently. The sentimental things I rarely wear or intend to give to family members later, are in jewelry packaging boxes inside my chest of drawers for safekeeping. I don't donate my used pieces. I clean the beads and reuse them, as well as turn used chain into waterfall earrings. I am so inspired by your beautiful pieces each so distinctly your style, bold, feminine and beautiful! Love your channel! Thanks for sharing your beading journey!
Thank you so much Darlene. Your jewellery box sounds wonderful. I ended up with a "take apart" pile too - not sure why I didn't mention that in the video. My next tutorial is actually going to be really out of character for me - delicate and dainty so that will be interesting.
I'm a crafter. I do it because my husband has skin cancer on his face. This is how we pay for his surgeries. Can you do (simple) wire rings with a stone or two? Also, ear cuffs. And a creative way to use cup chain.
❤ Hi, those red beads you could upgrade by adding differant beads to it for a more modern look, I made a stretch bracelet last night using large semi transparent flowers they have a center hole in them so I used acrillic bell caps in a pearl finish with an 8mm crystal in it and put into the flower bead, and used my one step looper on the back of the flower to loop it and have them spaced out on my stretch bracelet with acrillic dangle butterfly's in similar colours looks great for summer. Stay Safe,Have a great weekend.
Thank you Angela. Sounds lovely. I decided not to keep the red necklace because the beads were acrylic and not in good condition. I'm not opposed to using acrylic beads at all. I use them all the time.
Watching your video reminded me of why I had to completely stop making jewellery !!!!. It was overtaking my unit and I was making too much.....selling some, but not enough. I ended up selling all my millions and trillions of beads , findings etc. It took me about 4 months on Marketplace but in the end I did it. I was sad, but I knew I was addicted and had to stop. LOL. I feel your pain at being overwhelmed by the amount of jewellery.
Oh dear, Lindy. That is sad. It's a shame to stop doing something you love but I completely understand. I go through seasons of crafting. Possibly if I didn't have this channel I may have moved on. I give away a lot of what I make.
Yes, a serious problem for all crafters is the storage for finished items! I do find that store bought solutions for jewellery are woefully inadequate for beaded jewellery - they are more suited to fine jewellery. It’s an ongoing quest for what works. Well done for going through your pieces and trialling new systems. 😊
Thank you Faye. After living with this for a couple of weeks, I have come up with a new solution for storing my earrings. I am going to make something so stay tuned for that video.
What fun to see your jewelry collection! I love seeing my collection, so like you, I like the hanging earring bag solution the best! I have a jewelry plate for evening, when I just don't want to put my jewelry away and make it a point to set aside time on a regular basis to clean the plate and put them away. It's a system that helps me a lot.
I took me about 2 hours to do the whole project including filming. I was actually surprised at how quick it was once I got started. As you know, I'd been putting it off for months.
Great video Carol..you will be so happy to accomplish all of your sorting out, great job! you have some really lovely jewellery there, have you made it all?
This was very helpful, Carol, definitely solved your problem for the moment anyway. Gave me some ideas for the future. I really like the box with the different sizes, but I don't have near as much jewelry as you. BTW some really lovely pieces there. Love the video!
Oooo!! That was so fun!! Thanks for sharing!! How long did it take? I really like the way the metal necklace hooks are shaped on the hanging thing to minimize tangling. I'm not sure how much that gizmo cost, but I'd take those off the foldable thing and mount them on a panel or in a frame that could be hung next to the earring side. Then you could see both necklaces and earrings without having to flip it over. Does your closet have any drawers under the shelf that holds your jewelry? What if the small divided trays were laid out in a larger drawer where you could see them all at once? My best friends and I love to go to each other's house and help with organizing projects. It's always helpful to get opinions from fresh eyes. Loved the video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Penelope. I actually had the same thought. The large piece hanging in my wardrobe would be better if I could see both sides at once. I have very little room - not sure if you watched my capsule wardrobe video but that wardrobe in the background is for both my husband and myself to share. It also doesn't have any doors yet (long story). I couldn't put the drawers laid out like that. I have come up with a new solution which I will make on the channel soon.
I have the same problem, so I also used fishing gear boxes. But I use the larger ones. For my beads, I use dollar tree small square boxes with lids. You can get 10 per package. Then they are easily to store and I can see through the boxes. 😊😊😊 at least that works for me 😊
Thanks Sandra. That's how I store my beads as well. If you watch my studio makeover video you will see. They are probably exactly the same. ruclips.net/video/ltg4BzA1UQc/видео.htmlsi=Gs41gp3TUb1GzhT1

Hi Sue, I do have another job. I run an online beading shop, as well, I have a blog. Most of my focus has been on my RUclips channel recently. Trying to grow it so I can give up my day job :) Thank you for asking. The necklace I was wearing is called the Summer Forever necklace. Here's the tutorial. ruclips.net/video/3gDOat8kMow/видео.htmlsi=xadSnYmt5-xs6U-i
I have made earring holders from a couple of picture frames and fixed wire netting to them and my earring are much easier to hang from them and easier to see and just hang them on the wall
I buy Dollar Store picture frames & rolls of shelf liner, the kind with the holes. I remove the glass, cover the cardboard backing with shelf liner, put the frame together & can hang my earrings. I also get CHEAP pegboards with moveable hooks for my necklaces. (I tried including pictures but it isn’t working)
Good topic! Yes, i have too much jewelry. Unfortunately, when i put it away in drawers, i find it's 'out of sight and out of mind'! I like the hanging pockets for earrings, you can see them all easily! I bought the clear plastic strips with the knobs on them from Amazon and put them on my bedroom wall behind the door (which usually is open) to hang necklaces on. I also found some room inside my closet wall to hang some more strips but it still isn't enough for all my necklaces!!
Wonderful Ideas!! I personally love the hanging pockets for that quick and easy visual scanning.. New to your channel and just had to share it with our FB Group Members.. look forward to viewing the rest of your videos 🥰
Anti tarnish tissue paper? I didn’t know there were such. Hummm. I thought you did a beautiful job of organizing your jewelry! Has me thinking…. Thanks for inspiration Carol! ❣️😘
Great video with a lot of helpful suggestions. I really need to do something with my things as well because I am continually finding pieces I had forgotten about when I open drawers.
Thanks Carol! I really enjoyed watching this. I have ALOT of jewelry and I pull it out once a year and decide if I need it anymore. I love jewelry and as I make more, I have more!! LOL🙃. We are having a garage sale soon and I'm going to put some things out and sell them. I love that clear necklace organizer you have. I need one of those. 😊 I have many natural stone jewelry and I'm not sure how to store it. Any advise on how to store natural stone, sterling silver and gold? Thanks!
Thank you. To stop tarnish, I would store in plastic bags with the anti-tarnish tissue paper. I'm not sure about storing natural stone jewellery but I would imagine it's much the same (maybe no tissue paper).
I desperately need to do this, you have inspired me, thank you 🌟💗👏🏻 I agree the box with drawers is pretty but you are going to be pulling the drawers out all the time trying to find what you want. I think being able to see it all is best but that means covering a whole wall 🫣
New sub here. Fantastic video! Doesn't it feel so refreshing to have everything sorted and organized? Even if you're not completely satisfied with the the system you chose, at least you have something fresh to work with. I can relate though! Shopping for storage solutions can be tricky! Do you ever disassemble pieces you no longer want and reuse the beads and components? That might be an interesting video!
Welcome Linden. Thank you so much for subscribing. Yes, I actually ended up with a "take apart" pile. Not sure why I didn't include that in the video. I haven't taken them apart yet so many I will do a video on that too. Thanks for the suggestion.
I think all jewelry lovers need to sort, organize and thin their collection. I'm not very good at doing that! I have a huge bangle collection. I think just throwing them into a box or drawer causes to much scratching and stone loss. I have lots of sterling that needs air protection. a pins, rings..... It was good to see you organize. Thanks!
I make a lot of jewellery myself. I have found it hard to find something tall enough to fit my longer necklaces. I go through mine once a year and sort. I have taken apart some of the older pieces and remade into new jewellery.
Thank you Angel in NZ (nice to see another kiwi). I do that too. I have taken apart and remade so many pieces. I actually ended up with a pile that I would give that treatment from my sorting but I didn't share that. Not sure why! 😃
Do you have problems with metals being reactive with each other? I had some bracelets together in a drawer which have now become pitted. I will need to store them in individual plastic bags from now on.
That's a great question, Elizabeth. I haven't had that problem as yet but most of my jewellery is either silver or silver plated so it shouldn't be a problem. I am concerned about tarnishing though.
I love using a great big wooden box that is about three feet tall and about 20 Inches wide. With depth of 10 inches. It has several hooks on the inside wall on the top for hanging necklaces then several different drawers for bracelets and earrings. On of the box the lid opens up for my rings. I still need to organize it. What I need to organize is all my components and wires along with my tools for jewelry making. Then all my beads 😂
Carol: I loved this video. You have mostly bohemian style jewelry. What about fine and precious jewelry? Can you show us those if you have some? Or, are you like me, who put fine and precious jewelry hidden and later forgot where I hid them?
Dalia, I actually don't have any except my engagement and wedding rings which I store in a box beside my bed. I can't wear them as they give me blisters. For precious metal, you need to store it in plastic with anti-tarnish tissue paper. amzn.to/3RcVRJH
Hi Carol, TFS your tips. Covid-19 stay in doors destroyed my small boutique 😢I have a large inventory & I need to sort it out & try selling on FB live or RUclips live? Not sure how but I know I need to learn, if you have any tips for selling via social media live, please share. TY🌸
Thanks Alicia. I'm so sorry to hear that. It made it hard for a lot of people to continue. We have been discussing selling jewellery quite a lot in my membership group. I have been thinking about doing a video but haven't quite formulated a plan yet. I don't have any pearls of wisdom for you at the moment, I'm sorry, except to say that exposure is everything. Just keep posting on every platform.
Thank you Stac. Yes, I've been living with this solution for about 2 weeks now and I do feel like I would like to see them all. I have a plan for another storage solution. Stay tuned!
I’m surprised you would donate rather than take apart and reuse the beads and chains. That’s something I enjoy doing…getting big bags from Thrift Stores and finding new treasures!
I did actually end up with a pile of things to take apart as well. I'm not sure why I didn't say that on the video. I do like to donate though as it helps out the charities.
Thank you. Yes, I do give away a lot of pieces that I make. I wanted to sort everything out and I have already taken my "giveaway" pile off to the goodwill for them to sell to someone who loves them.
Thank you Dawn. You can't give away everything. I do give away a lot of what I make but I have so many pieces that I love that I wanted to keep. It was about finding a storage solution that worked for me.
I use those clear/ grey little boxes. I colour coordinate so that it's easier. I live the little hanging box - saw it on Amazon last year. Then hubby bought me a beautiful jewellery organiser behind a full length mirror. It hangs on the back of my wardrobe door. Good place for mirror too! Has 100s of hooks for earrings, necklaces of differing length, a large ring cushion, bracelet bars & a few shelves for perfume bottles. It has a battery operated light & is lockable. Fantastic!
Anti-tarnish tissue paper! I really didn't know that existed, but I certainly do need it. Thank you, Carol. That was my best takeaway.
Oh yes! It's amazing. I put it in plastic bags while I'm storing things and it completely stops the tarnish. Here's a link to some if that helps: amzn.to/450CjOl

I desperately need to do this, you have inspired me, thank you 🌟💗👏🏻 I agree the box with drawers is pretty but you are going to be pulling the drawers out all the time trying to find what you want. I think being able to see it all is best but that means covering a whole wall 🫣
Thank you Shelly. Glad I inspired you. I have been thinking about a new plan to store my earrings so I can see everything. Stay tuned!
Thanks!
Thank you. I'm glad you found this useful.
I make a lot of jewellery myself. I have found it hard to find something tall enough to fit my longer necklaces. I go through mine once a year and sort. I have taken apart some of the older pieces and remade into new jewellery.
I like to remake my old stuff too.
Thank you Angel in NZ (nice to see another kiwi). I do that too. I have taken apart and remade so many pieces. I actually ended up with a pile that I would give that treatment from my sorting but I didn't share that. Not sure why! 😃
@@aliceagogo It's a good way to make new things without spending.
You actually have quite a few pieces that caught my eye quite beautiful
Thank you. Most of them I have made and have tutorials for.
Either hole punch replacements or glue nozzle replacements is what it looks to me ❤
Sorry, I don't understand.
That sounds fabulous! Thank you for sharing that Liane.
I think cork board or wire wall mount so you can see every pair of earring would be great
That's a great idea. Thank you Michelle.
Those heart earrings are beautiful
Thank you. I made them in this video. ruclips.net/video/E9nplVctu3E/видео.htmlsi=0robbF8M_A58GNiv
Great outfit colors.
Thank you.
lol, the title alone. Can relate.
That you. Yes, it was embarrassing but worth sharing if it can inspire someone else to tackle it too.
great video, I have been thinking of sorting out my earrings as I would like to be able to just see them rather than have to fish around for them
Thank you Stac. Yes, I've been living with this solution for about 2 weeks now and I do feel like I would like to see them all. I have a plan for another storage solution. Stay tuned!
Wow! Makers always have lots of what they make. I knit and have over 50 sweaters.
Yep, I've tried to organize mine by color and metals, but it's so hard to keep it organized.
I knit too! I don't have lots of sweaters because I don't get much time any more.
Thanks Kathy. Yes, it's hard to keep things organized. I'm feeling more confident now that I have a system.
❤good job I bought a jewelry curio your looking good.
Thank you so much.
I own SO much jewelry. Then I make more jewelry! My jewelry has its own bedroom! I agree, I need to give some away!
Wow! I don't have much then, compared to you. I do giveaway or take apart a lot of what I make simply because I don't have the room to store it.
Great video. ❤
Thank you Rhonda.
Love it...❤
Thank you Brenda.
Great ideas 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖💖
Thank you 🤗 Glad you liked them.
Beautifully jewellery carol
Thank you so much.
I am for any videos you put out there ❤
Thank you so much, Celeste.
Well what was it ?😊
What was what? Sorry I don't understand.
I like to give away my old jewelry I don’t like to wear anymore to my friends daughters or just friends.
Thank you. Yes, I do give away a lot of pieces that I make. I wanted to sort everything out and I have already taken my "giveaway" pile off to the goodwill for them to sell to someone who loves them.
My gosh how pertinant. I have over 900 items to display & sell sitting in piles.
Wow! That's a lot. I hope this helped.
You have a lot of beautiful jewelry dear friend
Thank you so much Corinne.
Thank you so much, Corinne. I have made quite a lot of it.
@The_Stylish_Maker your very welcome dear friend
I've made jewelry but at the moment I'm making plant stakes for flower pots and today holy moly I sold them all
Do you sell your jewelry or keep it
Giveaway was my first thought lol
Fantastic!
That sounds fantastic Linda. We don't have wardrobe doors (long story) but have thought about hanging one of those on the wall perhaps.
And those blue one's were they birds 🐦
Which ones do you mean?
Yep it was a blue bird it was laying on the table
I zoomed in on the video it was a blue bird
@@corinnehawkins8 Oh you mean my bluebird brooch. Yes! It's very special to me. I bought it when I was out with my friend who passed away last year.
@The_Stylish_Maker yes that's the one
Carol u r BEAUTIFUL, INSIDE- OUT❤
Thank you.
The video was fun, but seriously Carol, you organised your jewellry, not exactly death cleaning
Thank you Rosaine. Yep, not death cleaning but it made a huge difference to my life.
