It's great to see an Australian woman doing a jewellery making video. I just bought a pair of the Xuron Crimping Pliers and they're so good. You can use them to crimp any size crimp, whether it's a size 1, 2 or 3. I always use crimp covers over my crimp tubes because they make jewellery look far more attractive and professional. But you can also use large hole beads to cover up crimps. Cheers, and thank you for a great video, from Amanda Jones in Melbourne ❤
Great demo. I started making jewelry about 30 years ago or so, and we did not have crimp beads. We used the clamshell bead tips, tied a couple of knots in our beading thread and fed them into the bead tips and close the bead tips up. To this day I still use this technique, and even have some of my first pieces that I made this way that I still wear.
Thank you so much. I have done it this way in the past but I find crimp beads so much easier. I'm always worried that my knots will come undone, especially when I use Tiger Tail. Do whatever makes you happy and works.
I love this video because it fills my need for an occasional refresher on finishing jewelry. Just a reminder on the basics. Like reading the card on a plane while the attendant tells you about belts, exits, bathrooms, etc.
Hi Carol. I just found your channel and subscribed. I love your comment about teaching people the "right" way to crimp. My philosophy is there is a theoretical way and a practical way. Theoretically, the "right" way to crimp is to crush twice. Practically, a single crush can secure the wire. If the end result is the same, then practically is as good as theoretically. Striving for perfection is a sure-fire way to take the joy out of a beginner's creative process. I think an experienced crafter will develop their own practical methods that work for them. And, hahahahah, on the crimp covers. I struggle with these lil forkers as well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

These are awesome tips. I do use crimp tunes with crimp covers. I have a trick to closing crimp covers and they always come out perfectly aligned by turning it to the closed seam after you've got it closed and using your pliers gently squeeze the side that sticks out until it is flush with the other side and makes more of a bead shape. It really reduces the visibility of the seam. Ive always folded my crimp tubes so that the cover fits over the crimp better and one side won't poke out from the cover which I've experienced. I love that you feed the end piece of beading wire down a few beads before cutting. In my experience it adds security and keeps the ends straight. I love your videos. I've been making jewelry for 15 years. I will have to watch your video on crimp beads because i have some Hill Tribe silver crimp beads that I want to use.
Thank you so much, Valarie. It's always good to gain extra information. I think my problem with the crimp covers is just that I need to practice but I'm too impatient to do it!
Hi. I just want to say thank you for breaking down on the variety types of crimp bead covers. My favourite are the Magic Crimping Pliers. I had them for almost 10 years & it felt like yesterday when I first used it & squished my sterling silver crimp bead into a crumpled paper-like bead. It comes in 2 different sizes & 2 different types (1 for regular crimping beads & the other sterling silver beads). Thanks for sharing your video & have a wondrrful day.
You saved the best technique for last. I thought for a minute there you were not going to mention your magical pliers. I love this tool so much & use it all the time. I've used crimp covers before & the clam cover thingie but not since I got a pair of magical crimping pliers. Once the bead is formed it doesn't cut into the tiger tail either which I thought it might but no its as strong as anything. Thank you for all your tips, tricks & tutorials they're just the best.
Thank you so much. I couldn't talk about crimping without the Magical Crimping Tool! It's always my favourite. I concerned that it might not be as strong initially but I actually think it's stronger. And it looks so pretty.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am new to making necklaces and these crimp beads, crimp tubes and clam shell covers have been confusing for me. This clarifies the procedure a little better and has given me a couple of options that I didn't even know I had. 👍😊

I have always flattened my crimp tubes inside the clamshell. No one, including customer, will see it. I do consider myself a purest in my jewelry making and my customers like the look.
Very, very good demonstration! Finally others ways to cover those crimp beads. I love the 6mm bead to cover them and I am going to try that way. Thank you!!
Hi Carol, hope you and Andy are on the mend - you’re looking great! All the bracelets are lovely but my favourite is definitely the first one. As far as hiding crimp beads are concerned, my favourite method is the clam shell - here in the UK they’re known as ‘calottes’ and come with a closed loop on each side, so when squeezed together they form one strong loop to which you can then add your jump ring etc. I sometimes use two crimp beads for extra security, especially if the piece is a heavier necklace, as I’m a bit paranoid! As for the bead bandits, I’d never heard of them - but they look amazing, so will definitely be giving them a go! Thanks for another really useful video & hope to see you again soon 😊
Thank you Jane. Yes, we are on the mend. This video was recorded about 3 weeks ago but we were too sick to edit it. I've also got some of those carlottes with the two loops as well. They are truly my favourite. I'm glad you liked this one.
Thank you for your response, and yes, I already ordered the ones that close with a double loop. Now the jump ring becomes the weak link. I can't wait to explore all your other videos. I don't sell anymore but how do you get beads out of your blood? So I look for bargains but not junk and make a couple of necklaces every week then gift them to the ladies in my congregation. What a hoot. I also had 2 very fulfilling experiences lately. #1-a dear friend for the last 50yrs was taking a route that looped across the US and back again to the West Coast, visiting old friends of ours. When she got here she had necklace/earring sets for all the girls. #2 Another friend and husband are missionaries in Ecuador. They visited for 3 weeks and went back with necklace/bracelet sets for the women in the town and I got some elastic and sent a bunch for the girls. I hope elastic holds or there are beads all over the village. Thank you for your efforts. Beverly
Your comment made me smile! Thank you. Yes, it's very fulfilling when you gift to someone else who appreciates it. I don't have an answer for you as to how to get beads out of your blood. I'm sure your stretch bracelets will hold. Have a great day.
Thank you! My daughter and I had been making jewelry for years but during the Covid epidemic, we started our online jewelry boutique. Your video was most informative . I love the Magical Crimp Tool. I will try to find one, along with the maical crimp tubes. You are a joy to watch and listen to - again thank you!!!😄
Absolutely love the message, when I clicked on comments, good for you. I do not know why but when somebody insults you even if that person is probably thousands of miles away it's hurtful. By accident I learned if you agree with trolls they will immediately leave you alone. Thank heavens for people like you I've said this a million times to other RUclipsrs. I got a bunch of these for Christmas from my sister. I had no idea what they were or how to use them, and I have not bothered to look it up. I wasn't even searching for you so obviously somebody out there is watching out for me. I'm halfway through your video, and you are a joy to watch thank you.😂 I wish there were more people like you. Apologies I keep adding to my comment, but I have a few questions for you. What is the best thread to use for necklace making. I did get some plastic thread off Amazon, and it's way too thick. I do have some Old Wire that I used when I was like 19 and made necklaces. I would love your opinion on which to use. Should it be wire or plastic? Please please please guide me to which size. I don't need another 400 ft. of plastic string I have no idea what I'm to do with. If you have any ideas what to do with thick plastic string, I would just love your opinion on that as well. Lastly, would it be okay to make bead string keychains or would that be too much stress, and it might break? Please, and thank you.
Thank you so much. You don't know how much I appreciate your message. Kill them with kindness is what I say. I'm so pleased that RUclips shared my video with you. I almost exclusively use a 0.38mm tiger tail for stringing my necklaces. It's a good thickness and is flexible. On occasion I have used Softflex as well. I don't have any suggestions for you about what to do with your plastic string. I did have a customer once who made the beaded curtains, if you were inclined I guess you could do that. It seemed like any awful lot of work though. Please keep watching. Thank you.
@@The_Stylish_MakerYou are very welcome. I'm glad you read my message. I agree with you as well. I am an older mother, and I simply don't have the energy to try to fit in. So, " kill them with kindness", is my personal go too, and also when advising my kids. I can't thank you enough for not only answering my question on width, but for what to do with 400 ft of plastic string. I love it when in a single second my perspective changes. I think that's probably one of my favorite emotions. I can now think of at least 5 different things I can do with thick strong plasitc string. Thank you so much. 💓 What a bonus my algorithm found you. I do apologize for my long comments, poor sentence length, and lack of proper punctuation. I just really don't know how to make them short, and English class was not one of my stronger subjects. Please enjoy the day and let me know if there's any other videos on RUclips you might think are interesting. I need to expand my algorithm.
@@The_Stylish_Maker My youngest son came home from school today, he told me that there was a kid that wasn't being nice to him. I thought, "thats so weird that I was jus talking about "kill them with kindness". It must have been in the cards for you to remind me of a simple rule of thumb. So thank you. I also told him that tomorrow if this kid accuses him of something then just agree, don't engage, thats what he wants. It's so hard for all of us to understand, " that this too shall pass".

Those crimp covers are my nemesis as well. Lol Those large hole beads to cover the crimp tube are great but with small bead designs it doesnt work as well. On large bead designs those work beautifully. That magical crimp tool is magical indeed. I've got to get one of those! Beautiful pieces and great demo. Thank you for sharing and reminding me how much I miss and love making jewelry.
Thank you so much, Kellie. You are very welcome. Yes, am in love with the magical crimper - I wonder what I did without it most days. Glad to know that others find crimp covers hard to use as well. I've had lots of people say the same thing. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the very informative info. I've been beading for some time and have always had trouble with crimp beads. I can hardly wait to try your suggestions. Thanks again for sharing your information. I watch your shows consistently but don't always comment.
Delighted to have spotted this tutorial! I bought some bead bandits from you a while back, thinking I could just wing it with some guesswork and a few spares... But I really want this necklace I'm making for Mum for this Christmas to come out perfectly - and now I know how!! Thanks for your practical, down-to-earth posts.

I started making jewelry about 3 months ago I came across your tutorials on TV and I just love everything you have made and show and the tricks and the traits that you do like crimping and hiding them with crimp beads and bead bandits, I just really enjoy all of your video tutorials
Thanks for the video ❤ I started making beaded necklaces when I was 13/14 yrs old. I just turned 45 and I'm still enjoying it! I also got into wire wrapping since it's so easy to hop online and watch easy to follow videos like yours. I appreciate when you use the multiple names used throughout different countries and times. Even though I have decades of experience I find myself going back to the basics and watching other people's techniques and looking for inspiration. It must be the "Thirst of the Artist" 😁
Thank you so much, Dana. It's interesting how we use different terms in different countries and that terms change over the years. I also watch other people's videos as well. It keeps the inspiration alive.
I have been making jewelry since I was 14 years old, I’m now 32. I typically make bracelets using elastic cord since I prefer bracelets that are easy to put on and take off, but when I make necklaces I’ve always struggled with crimp beads. This was so helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much, Betty. I actually agree with you about bracelets. I much prefer either a stretch bracelet or a memory wire one. If you haven't used memory wire, check out this playlist. ruclips.net/p/PLPf_M492CDQMyQ0su0peTx5YPJlWJ2sdW
Thankyou , I learnt a couple new ways to use crimp tubes and covers . I stopped making jewelry after 10 years but watching this makes me want to get out my supplies and make more jewelry. Will be watching more of your videos for sure.

I've used these clams in the past and didn't think about placing them over a crimp bead. I used to wrap wire around a seed bead. Thank you so much for this helpful hint.
Thank you. I am a beginner, and your tutorial was exactly what I needed. Now, I am attempting to make a long, heavy turquoise bead necklace. Which would be the best type of closure for such a project. Appreciate all advisors to share your ways. Much appreciated, and I look forward to viewing your other videos.
I have the pliers that change a 2 mm tube, like yours and a different plier that does the 1.5mm; it has blue handles. I love them. I’ve had them for over 20 years.
This is great! I wish I had known these types years ago! I used crimp tubes but I've always hated the way they look. I esp like the bread tips because I hate threading the wire back through the beads, so I will definitely be getting some. I bought some crimp covers a few years ago, but I forgot what they were for. 🙄 the timing is perfect to, because I am making a few bracelets for gifts. Thank you for sharing!
That was a brilliant tutorial. So glad I found you. You’re so easy to learn from, you have a lovely voice and you go at a great speed. Absolutely brilliant and I will be following you and watching your videos. Thank you so much.
Crimping is my worst!!! However now that I know I can do it just flat I feel much better!!! Love your necklace!!!!! Thank you for your instructions!!!!

@@carlam.crawford200 great point! For some reason they tend to fall apart when I’ve accidentally crimped flat
I agree with you Carol. I've found the crimp pliers won't fit in the beadtip.
Thank you. Glad you agree.
I have always flattened my crimp tubes inside the clamshell. No one, including customer, will see it. I do consider myself a purest in my jewelry making and my customers like the look.
Thank you so much, Deana.
Very, very good demonstration! Finally others ways to cover those crimp beads. I love the 6mm bead to cover them and I am going to try that way. Thank you!!
You are so welcome! I'm so pleased that you found it helpful.
Excellent tutorial. I haven't done bead work for ages so so delighted to see the new Magical Pliers. Must give it a try. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Susan.
Just started watching u ur so professional love ur work
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
Thank you! My daughter and I had been making jewelry for years but during the Covid epidemic, we started our online jewelry boutique. Your video was most informative . I love the Magical Crimp Tool. I will try to find one, along with the maical crimp tubes. You are a joy to watch and listen to - again thank you!!!😄
Thank you so much. I hope your business is going well. Here's a link to the magical crimper and crimps. amzn.to/4eFwKcD
It's no problem. I like reading your comments and I respond to every comment I get.
Yes, as you said, they get tired and go away if you don't respond in the way they want.
I'm so glad the algorithm sent me your way! I haven't made jewelry in a while but I still have all my supplies and this makes me want to jump back in!
You are so welcome! I'm so pleased you found me as well. Welcome to the community.
Thank you. Now I know what to use. Makes the whole jewellery look more elegant
Thank you Johanna. I really appreciate that.
Excellent by far. I will watch more later. The crimp bead instruction was wonderful.
Glad you enjoyed it, Cathy. Thank you.
Boy am I glad I watched , when I use those clamshells with the hook, I was always trying to make a rolled loop, you just folded it, so much easier, all your tips are so useful and as always a great teacher.
Kirsten D Ont.Canada ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Kirsten. Lovely to hear from you again.
I love listening to you.. Informative and very easy to follow.. The accent is definitely a plus!!!! Ty
Thank you so much, Marisa. I'm really pleased that you liked this one.
I've been beading for a long time but I still learn something new every time I watch!
Aw, you are so kind, Sharon. Thank you.
Me too! 🙋🏻♀️ ❤
Your video are very good on showing how to make jewelry. Especially for beginners. I've been making jewelry for years. I've learned a lot from watching your videos. Thank uou for your patience.
You are so welcome! Thank you, Barbara.
I can’t stop staring at the beautiful necklace you are wearing!
Thank you, Pat. I always put the links to the jewellery I'm wearing (if I've done a tutorial) in the description box. Here's the link for the necklace: ruclips.net/video/9d2yQzJ2wdQ/видео.htmlsi=GHBUb5qejWypO-x8
Bead Bandit. I like that one more easier . Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. They are my favourite too.
This was excellent - I have been waiting 6 years and this is the first and BEST description on crimp beads. Thank you so very much.
Oh thank you so much, Susan. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this video.
Glad it was helpful, Kay. Thank you so much. I'm glad you commented this time.
Thanks Carol , I haven't heard of the head bandits before will definitely be getting some x
You're welcome. Thank you.
Oh, I'm glad you found it too! The bead bandits are the best in my opinion. I hope your necklace turns out great - I'm sure it will - and your Mum will love it. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for going through the different crimping techniques!
You are very welcome, Susan. Thank you.

I enjoy all your videos. Recording is clear, Directions are clear. Thank you.
Thank you so much, Agnes.
This is fabulous! I have been stuck using crimp bead covers, not knowing another way! Thank you so much for showing me new and better ways! You’re amazing!
Thank you so much. Glad you found it helpful. I hate crimp covers so use any other method possible.😄
I learned something new today! Thank you
That's great Teresa. I'm glad I could help. Thank you.
I havent seen the bead bandit before. Thanks. I'll be looking for them now!
Thank you, Sharon. Yes, I found them quite by accident. You can purchase them on Amazon if you don't want to get them from us.
Love the look of the bead bandits! Thanks!
Thank you Sharon. I do too.
I am so happy I discovered your channel!! You are absolutely the best jewerly teacher/instructor I have found online!!! I am going to watch everything single video you have uploaded. I am an absolute beginner and didn´t know where to start... Now I know! Watching all your videos and learning how to do it!! Thank you so much. Love from Chile!
Thank you so much Elisa. Hello from New Zealand. Here's a link to a video where I made 5 beginner projects. That might be a good place to start. ruclips.net/video/JbkWBBTpm-Q/видео.htmlsi=0gf6DytPQ7_t14oz
Wonderful video! Clear images and a simple description of each technique. This lady was born to be a teacher!
Thank you so much. Teaching adults was my profession in another lifetime!
Thank you for sharing your experiences and your techniques. I appreciate the information and is helpful.
You are very welcome, Lynn. Thank you.
Never heard of the last crimp tool b4…thanks for sharing! 🙏
Thank you so much, Pamela. I know, it's an amazing tool. I love it!
I am a newbie to your channel and also new to making bracelets. I love watching and learning your beading techniques. Thank you for sharing❤
You are very welcome Dee Dee.
Wow, great tips! I've never even heard of bead bandits. Never to late to learn something new.
Thank you so much. I'm glad I could show you something new.
I started making jewelry about 3 months ago I came across your tutorials on TV and I just love everything you have made and show and the tricks and the traits that you do like crimping and hiding them with crimp beads and bead bandits, I just really enjoy all of your video tutorials
Thank you so much, Cynthia. Did you watch this one? ruclips.net/video/JbkWBBTpm-Q/видео.htmlsi=sb5nMgGsxszj8VGM
Loved this tutorial vídeo.
Thank you so much Marina.
Thanks
Oh wow! Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. I'm glad you found this useful.
Thankyou for the clear, concise instructions and physical demonstration, very helpful.
You're very welcome! I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this tutorial.
I love all those crimp cover ideas especially the bead idea. Thank you so much.😊
Thank you, Diana. Yes, I like that one too. The possibilities are endless.
Wonderful! Thank you, Kim. Go on, do it! I'm sure you will enjoy starting up again.
Thank you for this beautiful crimp beads . I used this steps in the past ,and I’m going to bring them back to the present .I see you are a excellent artist. Beautiful, wonderful jewelry!
Thank you so much, Rosalia.
Thank you. I had to stop beading for a few years and could not remember how to do this, you just squashed my mental frustration and I love your ideas on covering the crimp!!!
Oh that's fantastic. I'm so pleased that you found this useful.
Awesome tutorial. So clear and well explained. And so much information shared !
Thank you so much Carey-Lou.
This was such a fabulous tutorial dedicated to the crimp bead, much appreciated. Thank you for your generosity and great explanatory communication on the subject.
You are very welcome. Thanks so much.
Great Video, so easy to understand follow. I love your earrings, is there a tutorial on them?
Thank you so much, Connie. I always leave a link to the tutorial of any jewellery I'm wearing in the description box. Here's the link for the earrings: ruclips.net/video/Rq-JqBzqVzk/видео.htmlsi=HkZ9NL27nvYbwXDL
I've used these clams in the past and didn't think about placing them over a crimp bead. I used to wrap wire around a seed bead. Thank you so much for this helpful hint.
That's interesting, Karen. I have never done that but I can see how that could work too. Thank you for your comment.
Thank you. I am a beginner, and your tutorial was exactly what I needed. Now, I am attempting to make a long, heavy turquoise bead necklace. Which would be the best type of closure for such a project. Appreciate all advisors to share your ways. Much appreciated, and I look forward to viewing your other videos.
Thank you Rosalinda. I would use a toggle clasp if it's a heavy necklace. It will be a little more balanced with you beads.
Thank you what a nice refresher, I've always just used crimp covers, but after seeing this I may have to give your #1 a try.
That's great Heather. There's so many options to choose from. Thank you.
I have the pliers that change a 2 mm tube, like yours and a different plier that does the 1.5mm; it has blue handles. I love them. I’ve had them for over 20 years.
That’s great. Thank you.
Thank you so much, Jodi. I'm really pleased that you found this useful.
That was a brilliant tutorial. So glad I found you. You’re so easy to learn from, you have a lovely voice and you go at a great speed. Absolutely brilliant and I will be following you and watching your videos. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
Very helpful. Thank you. I have 2.5mm crimp tubes. Will a 3mm crimp cover fit? Using crimping pliers.
Thank you so much. It depends if you just squash it or if you fold it, I think. It might be a matter of trial and error.
@@The_Stylish_Maker Thank you. I will practice
Crimping is my worst!!! However now that I know I can do it just flat I feel much better!!! Love your necklace!!!!! Thank you for your instructions!!!!
I used to really struggle with it too, especially those folded ones. I must say that getting my Magical Crimping Tool was a game changer for me. Here's a link to the tutorial for the necklace. ruclips.net/video/9d2yQzJ2wdQ/видео.htmlsi=Zp3TptHcbWUAjZbx
What a great tutorial! I have never had good luck with those and I am grateful you showed us several different ways to do it whether they are “textbook” or practical!😊
Thank you so much Sheila. I'm glad you found this one useful. I do try and help people with the things I struggled with when I started because I think they are probably universal.
What an excellent tutorial! I have wanted to learn how to cover ugly crimp beads for a long time and here you are, showing me several ways. Thanks! I really appreciate it.
Thank you Joyce. I'm glad you got some value from this one.
What a fabulous, fabulous tutorial! You do such a nice job of explaining what you’re doing. And the best part is that the camera zooms in so you can really see what you’re doing. Congratulations.🎉
Thank you so much.
I just discovered your channel and watched this video - so helpful with clear instructions and no nonsense. I love it. Thanks so much ! Finishing bracelets and necklaces is something I've always struggled with to make it look nice and neat and this is very helpful.
Thank you so much. I have a video planned for the next week or two where I'm going to be covering the basics of stringing and crimping again so make sure you're subscribed so you won't miss it. I really appreciate you watching.
love the last option, I'm def doing more of my jewelry this way!
That's great, Stephanie. Thank you.
Im new to the craft. Actually invested into the products but wasnt completely sure of technique. Glad i came across your video
Thank you so much. I'm glad you found me and that I was helpful.
Fabulous. New to making my own jewelry....I used to dabble a bit and do my repairs ont own...I learned so much already with this one video. I am going to spend the next few days watching and saving your videos. Thank you.
