Well. Pilestedt lied about this whole situation for months and withheld information. The behavior of the community managers in all this was either "duck and hide" or talk down to people in a derogatory way. I won't trust them and keep the red thumb until Pilested and AH make a statement on how they will change their communication from now on and what steps they take to clean up the behavior of their community managers. All of this was too unprofessional at the expense of customers.

We need to keep the reviews negative until they remove the country restrictions as well for this major order to actually be considered a true success, this is a 2 part mission and everyone's being blinded like when we wiped the bots the first time and then they came back
the playstation network account required tag is still up on the steam page , the may 2nd update page DOESN'T say its been removed simply that they are learning about player preference , NOTHING is changed except a REVIEW SCORE FOR THEIR UPCOMING INVESTORS CALL by people taking a twitter post as solid evidence, until the PSN required tag on the helldivers 2 page is removed and an update clearly stating it wont require PSN on steam im not changing my negative review im not falling for twitter crap that can be reneged on without consequence.
This isn't over. Do not relent or forget what happened because this is still Sony. Until everyone can dive again nothing has changed. Until its confirmed that countries that were locked out of purchasing the game can again it's not over. All Sony has done is said things on social media. Talk is cheap, action speak louder. My review will stay negative because I have no faith in Sony to not screw this up later when they try something else.

While people were united in this game, the unity amongst game devs using/defending Unity Engine has been destroyed. Coincidence? I think not.

Don't forget what sony said. "We haven't figured out PC players yet...", I'd bet they are sore about this and dreaming up something for us PC Gamers. BTW sony, PC Gamers are very simple, make a good game, sell it at a fair price, give us all the control in options (settings, keybinds, etc...), don't add any P2W/pay walls and then leave us the F alone.

no they didnt, they got them to change a single fucking bad decision. we gained nothing, we only stopped the loss on a single thing and it took 300k people to do it. hardly even a win much less any knee bending
@@kamikeserpentail3778 it's basically a reference to Kneel to zod from the original Superman films but when someone asks for you to bend the knee it means to give up whatever you want and accept that you lost and to accept my authority you can actually see a reference to this a couple times in Game of Thrones but the idea is if you bend the knee you won't be harmed severely you can also see other references for example kiss the hand of Zod is another reference to kneeling to your enemies or surrendering or in this case bending the knee I think it sounds pretty cool for a threat but maybe I'm cheesy like that
That CEO has some balls. At the height of the downvote storm, he posts

Respect to him, for transparency, for honesty, for owing up to his mistake and standing on the side of the community, talking clearly and without BS, while all his community managers hid their heads in the sand after making the community even more angry.
I'd go into fire after a leader like this.
And when asked by a player who lives outside PSN coverage, what to do, his simple reply of "I don't know" felt poignant. You could FEEL he was there ready to fight Sony for that player.
While there definitely were communication issues that partly led to all this, I definitely agree that this is a breeze of fresh air. I wish the Devs lots of more chill while still constructive time in the future development, there really were huge storms in the past months and I hope they don't burn out from all that stress. They still made a really cool game, and I want to see it prevail.
@@nickkohlmannYeah, he dun goofed up, he totally bought into PSN requirement early on, without realizing how sucky it is, then quietly switched it off when it would crash servers due to how many players joined, and didn't learn how sucky it is when time to switch it on came.
But once he learned the consequences, he did a 180 and stood with the players, to make it optional.
That "I don't know" was really a gut punch.

Yep. Basically Sony dumped it on them right as they were about to walk the game out from a development perspective. What did the CEO do? He shut it off at launch for us XD bit of a mistake on communicating it to the players but he went ahead and owned his mistakes. Good guy.

What Sony should have done is like what they did with the Spider-Man games. Not make account linking mandatory, but try to give a little incentive like clothing. In Helldivers case, a cape.
They were low key trying to get people to buy PS5 on countries that don't have PSN.
This was about more than incentives. This linking update was going to genuinely break the game for many people.

I feel the cape should be called something like "Beacon of unity" or some appropriate name and with the info should be something like this with the renown saying "we dive together or not at all. A rallying call shared by helldivers and citizens throughout Super Earth in the face of the deadly Automaton virus. "

It's a reminder to Sony forever after of what can happen when they overstep. It's not about the colors, it's about the meaning behind them
I have never been so proud to be a member of a specific gaming community.
Granted, I have never been a super active member in any of them (even though I'm planning to change that in some of them), but this is the first time I have ever been a part of something that actually caused some change in the gaming space. Granted, just leaving something as optional wasn't the greatest achievement ever, but it certainly is something to be proud of, at least in my opinion.

It meant more than you might think. By making it remain optional, players in 100+ countries around the world were saved from what amounted to an unfair ban just because of where they lived. 3 divers who have been my brothers in arms since i started playing would have been banned from the game because of this. So to all who helped make this change, I salute you. You did a great thing, and it's more important than you might think
This is the perfect cape because it looks like the dive trails of Hellpods, it was made by fans, and it celebrates a small IRL victory against corporate tyranny. Now, if only we can leverage this in other walks of life to start a seachange in industries damaged by corporatism.

1:16 what do you mean CEO admitted he knew about it all along. It was literally stated on steam since day one PSN linking was a requirement since the team didn't feel pressured to enforce it until Sony greedily wanted to boost their numbers.
Yeah, the communication was a mess. I personally genuinely never noticed that it was supposed to be a hard requirement. I'm honestly just looking forward to the change and what we achieved more so than being angry about the past

@@tominator048 I have too many gossip friends, and a Xwitter account to follow other artists. Most of those are... Chronically online, but cite their sources. Trouble is, their sources are often just as troubled.
Hence, my reasoning that this isn't an issue with enough backing for my liking. Therefore the moderator team/CM will get a stern talking to from their leadership, since unprofessional behavior like that is damaging. Learn from my failuressss... And hopefully AH learns from theirs...

Sony dropships enter into 7 sectors at once. The third faction isnt the illuminate. Its the corporate heads of an even more vile snake.
"Scramble all destroyers, and wake all those bastards up from cryo. The bots can wait and the bugs arent going anywhere. They want to play chicken with us. Fine. We're notoriously willing to die."
48 Hours Later:
The commander, feeling lost and defeated as over half of his battle group has gone MIA, twirls his glass of Scotch on its edge. Theres barely any of the stuff left as the ice clanks against the edge. He looks at old photos of friends hes lost and brothers hes had to leave behind. "Im sorry." He says to them. "I... dont know how to beat this. I dont know how to win."
He hears rapid footsteps sprinting down the hall towards his door. *CLANG, CLANG, CLANG*. Without a knock Ensign Crusher bursts through the doorway barely giving enough time for the automatic door to open.
"Sir!" Ensign Crusher's smile almost tells the news for him. "We've regained contact."
The commander jumps up from his desk and runs out the door following behind the excited young cadet. "When." He can barely contain a smile himself. *Military bearing is as important as breathing*. He remembers a quote from General Brasch.
"A few minutes ago. All the Sonytarian battleships have gone dormant and all the jamming signals have stopped."
As he approaches the galactic war map he sees a group of 12 unthawed divers and crew all staring at the silhouette of a ship outlined in blue holographic light. He looks up out the window and he can see it. What was just hours ago an imposing and dire threat has now once again become an empty shell of metal. No life to be found inside before... and no life after. Just as soon as they had come... they had fallen.
"What caused them to go dormant?"
"Unknown sir." the ships pilot Vikky rolls over in her wheelchair. A few hundred Helldives took their toll. "All we know is theyve stopped jamming comms and have shut down their engines."
"I dont trust them. Turn our ships 90 degrees on axis to the starboard side."
"Sir?" Ensign Crusher looks confused as 3 other helldivers begin automatically march over towards the hellpods.
"Were gonna make sure this doesn't happen again." Commander Hellheart dons his helmet and chambers a round in his trusty liberator as he locks into his hellpod. *This time* he thinks. *This time I earn my skull* theres a sound of pressurized air and a *THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP* as all four hellpods are launched from the *Mother of Iron* towards the derelict ship. Other superdestroyers follow suit as the ships hull is peppered by hellpods.
Its not over... until its over.
We did it boys and girls, for democracy and liberty, all helldivers shall be free

I got caught up in the ban wave by purple squidgeon. It's really crummy what happened with the whole grummz thing.

@@CrazyLikeUhFox so this dude, Grummz, was going after the head community manager for her extremely pro-PSN stance. The head community manager wanted PSN so she could ban people easier, which caused a lot of disagreement. Now, Purple Squidgeon, one of the HD2 discord mods, decided to claim that Grummz had SA'd people, providing zero evidence, then went radio silent about it. Grummz' name was then promptly blacklisted from the server, and anyone calling out Squidgeon on his lies was swiftly banned (presumably by him). I was one of the folks caught up in the ban wave, because I was asking a mod what the deal was with grummz being a blacklisted word on the server.
@rodneybuckentime4838 Geez what a mess. I feel it was the right decision to be involved on some RUclips channels and in some friend Discord servers to stay up to date, but not join the main server directly so I don't risk getting entangled in every mess directly.

Tell me that after getting blasted by thousands of emotional children, please. Everyone has their limit. This is an emotional group. I would of said much worse. Change was a month out & most just cried.
@lukemehalick370 tbf they didn't call out for them to be fired or something, more for themselves to be moderated (which could also mean further training to handle such situations) and with that I definitely agree, at least for their own good. Being in a position of responsibility when something like this happens just be extremely stressful.

Just a suggestion for the cape "Dive together"
I'm not changing the review at all, based on just a simple tweet from sony PR department. Still we have these regions blocked and suspended from the product real people paid for...and its not resolved yet. First AH should revert many things internally within the product - game itself (focus on fixing crashes issues first, not by implementing much more silent nerfs called 'buffs'), empoyees of AH department and level of their communications skills (Community Managers). The reputation doesn't come back like CM Spitz wishes to be - reverting the review and we forget about the case.
All previous owners can play, the update never went through. Though the Steam page still needs to be reinstated but that's Steam job to perform.

what surprises me the most is how some people immediately jumped ships as soon as the psn link dilemma came up and declared helldivers as "lost and it was nice while it lasted". i just set my trust into arrowhead and knew that they represented our values and in the end this issue got resolved within the week
The wisest thing is to not immediately judge but take a second and third look while talking to others about it and then use the tools available to influence it in a nonviolent way. The reviews were the perfect way to do this, and I am happy it worked! Do not attack individuals, use the very tools of democracy. This applies to many situations.
I don't think that was surprising at all. It was entirely Sony's call, not Arrowhead's, so having trust in Arrowhead doesn't do much. People were giving up on it because they have no trust in Sony.

People turned on Arrowhead because of what the community managers did. The devs were so tone deaf at the start and didn't respond because the CM's loved what was happening. They really need to be fired and blacklisted. Arrowhead won't fully regain trust until they put their house in order and get new CM's who actually want to see the game flourish -- not political activists who champion DEI and wokeness for attention and notoriety.
This news was wonderful to wake up to this morning. First saw it on Blame Truth’s channel and I’ve been watching a few other videos since just to see if someone else had more recent information.
As for the name of the cape, I’d go with, “uncompromising democracy”, and the description of the cape I’ve seen on a few videos by now, “we dive together or not at all.”
I will definitely rock that cape when/if it drops to commemorate this moment. This is a HUGE win!

Ive always wanted a cape to wear going career.
i love how they made a collective fighting force, then was taken a back when we all worked together when the cut some of our fellow helldivers out of the duty roster by taking them completely off the board with the PSN linking. Praise be the HELLDIVERS who tooth and nail battled back the sony overlords and once again brought peace and security to our new emprire.
I have a new song from the Author of previous P.S.N. one in my Watch Later list, and cant wait to don the Helldivers Unity cloak

First of all, this community achieved something little to non other ever could. Amazing. Second, about the cape, I'd really love to see a competition system where players can send in their cape design, and vote for them, and the winner would be added to the next warbond as an extra, fourth cape, and the creator would receive some supercreds/that warbond the cape is in.
