Hi Tom. I was wondering if I could get your opinion on a trading query i have. I am copying 3 traders who have very different portfolios (tech, currencies and renewable energies) but they are all investing in bitcoin also. I was considering closing the bitcoin copy on 2 of these traders and only keeping bitcoin trade open with one. Would you consider worthwhile?
I had no clue about the fee option to add on now i know thanks. . i had known before about the settings and dividend part cause when i had to file my taxes return. stocks i have pay all dividend
Thanks sir :) The only one i really looked into a bit was the one with that capital guarantee - what an offer that was... Didn't have the money though.
@@SocialTrading ah, I forgot to ask you. Do you know that some traders, we copy, pay dividends by themselves to the copiers (dividends derived from the portfolio's profit, not from dividend-generating assets)?
@@SocialTrading yes like that. I didn't understand that well. I am waiting for the next month to see what I will receive. I will tag you in Etoro on the guy post. He is also one of the suggestions I suggest you. Also you can look at the people I copied.
Hi there - I don't unfortunately. They seem to keep us separated, so I don't know if I can actually see the American traders, which is a massive shame. Especially now as I'm looking for good crypto traders to copy. Can you guys trade stocks on eToro in the U.S?
If I'm copying a trader with a larger amount than they are utilising, is that wasted capital? If I follow a trader with 10k and they are only using/trading with 2.5k do I have spare room to 'remove funds' and allocate to a different copy trader to make additional proffit?
Hey Alex - I'll try to make a video about this soon. The answer is 'nope' . Basically many traders won't use 100% of the funds they have in their account, and therefore, won't use 100% of the funds that you copy them with. Why? It depends on their strategy. Are they trying to keep their risk scores down by not having all of their money active in trades? Are they holding lots back for better entry points into their target assets? Are they keeping some back in case there are opportunities they haven't considered yet? All the traders have different styles and different motivations for what they do with their accounts. When we copy them, they don't trade with our money, they trade with their own account - we're just setting our account to automatically copy theirs. So what we're seeing is their own personal strategy. Now if you remove funds. Let's say you copied with 10,000, and they're only trading with 2,500. So there's 7,500 unused, and you remove 5000. So as soon as you remove the 5000, if the trader is still only trading with 25% of their capital, the eToro system will see that you now have 5000 copying that traders, and start closing trades, and re-allocating your money so that only 25% of whatever money you have left in your account (the 5000) is being used. So you'll have $1250 worth of trades open... It's trying to match their startegy as closely as possible. Which means copying how much of their overall capital they're allocating to each asset. But let's say the auto re-alignment feature wasn't there (which it is!) If you did withdraw $5000, the next time they open a trade using 10% of their account funds on Apple, you'll open a trade using 10% of the remaining 2,500 on apple. (the other $2500 is already being used in this scenario) it'll be a $250 copied trade. Whereas if you'd left your money copying the traders, it would have been 10% of 7,500 - a $750 Apple trade. It's a very different thing. Your two portfolios would drift apart in terms of profits and losses, and the proportions allocated and overall strategy.
@SocialTrading Thanks for the extensive answer. That was awesome, thank you. One thing that may be good to really highlight for the video is what happens if we do remove funds (do trades get cancelled even if they are in the red to get reallocated again but with the correct new fund %). Also, when is the best time to potentially reallocate or shuffle funds around between the traders you follow to hopefully negate any unwanted losses (not on the traders part, but on our impatience of not following along for the 'x' amount of time). Thanks again 🙂
This is common sense. I believe eToro prefers hiding it or not solving this gap where it is not crystal clear how dividends got into our account. Yes... That is correct, I have been an eToro user as well for 4 years now and it is reasonable to think that if this issue was in their mind, they would've solved it already. It shouldn't be a thing where the only way to discover it is by people falling into it and asking their peers. Anyway, good content and vibe!
good day sir I am a copier your video are really giving me insight on how etoro really works a lot I dot know with your video I am beginning to understand more thanks you doing a great job I am new just started copying from last year April and I really want to understand fully how this all works a lesson wont be bad or a training I am interested thanks
Hi Tom take a look at Sharon Connolly she started trading on Etoro in 2013 . She’s an Australian at elite level ( green star) last year her total was 69.14 but had a terrible year in 2022 . I would be interested in your opinion of her record as I have some money invested with her .
How a coincidence that I searched two days about fees on dividend stocks, since I found out that fees are quite high for payed dividends. Thanks!
:) excellent
I really love the way you're making your videos Tom, are you the one editing it? So impressive editing skills and so informative videos! Keep it up! 🙌
Thank you so much - yep, it's all me :)

Oh wow, I only just saw this now :) What did you do? Bitcoin's had quite an amazing month... I understand the concern though. What a choice!
@SocialTrading I left it as it was thankfully. Bitcoin has been flying it. Is it predicted to continue?

Helpful videos. Thnaks for that. How about analyzing smart portfolios as well?

@@SocialTradingHI Tom, could you tell us wich smartportfolio was with capital guarantee? Thank you.

Thanks for the info. Surprisingly, how the same market item can be + or - . I never noticed
Me neither :) I've always known about refunds, but never actually questioned which assets give them!

How do you mean? They send each of their copiers money?

That sounds very unusual to be honest, and I'd be very careful just in case.
Hello, just curious but do you have any recommendations on American copy traders?

Thanks for watching :) No, that's how much I have in eToro.
I will not trade with etoro.
