It’s funny how this locomotive kept its C&O colors all the way to 2008 and painted to YN3 and then donated in 2017 and painted right back into her C&O colors! Very strange history on this SD40 indeed
Crazy how long that lasted, it's nice to hear of old paint surviving that long, imo railroads should've kept old paint schemes with patches more, I feel like it would be good PR, plus us railfans would love it
dude, you gotta start making longer videos lol. this is good, but there is so much you could cover if you got the time, to make much longer videos. Im still waiting for the re build video. I expect it to be longer than this lmao there is so much cover. like, slugs of all kinds, the long version of the GE's video, that at least covers the spotting features of the U boats, and the modern ACs DCs MACs the TEIR versions ..they all look alomost alike if the are flying by you, you do great work. I subbed a long time ago, and I like all but the computer videos. Im just here for the trains lol. keep up the good work!
This story of returning to their old livery is somewhat similar to that one mandated passenger locomotive, i think it was CNJ or something, i forgot Edit: It's NJT 4109
Nice history. I never knew that the half repainted C&O unit would end up being preserved. Very fitting ending given its history.
I saw her at Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati at the end of her career. Crazy to see C&O on the long hood 30 years after it was painted on! Great video.
My favorite CSX unit! Glad they preserved her!
This may be splitting hairs but CSX was formed in 1980 not 1986. The CSX paint scheme debuted in 1986.
You’re the smallest channel I’m subscribed to but the quality of your content often outshines bigger channels. Super glad I follow you

That locomotive is among my favorite locomotives ever rostered on CSX
1:31 oh my is that a hover train!
That mix of C&O and CSX livery would make for a incredible heritage paint
Remember seeing it going by my place early 2000s! 1998 saw the last B&O GP 40 have photos of it ! Didn’t get the C&O!
I remember seeing this unit leading a train out of Nashville
Nice video. Could you make an episode on BSRX 98? It seems like a normal locomotive on the inside but is actually quite interesting.
I got to sit in the engineer seat of that engine at the C&O Heritage Center
Interesting, cool to hear is great history. Great video!
The first heritage unit for CSX
If people really hate the fade on CSX's heritage units so much that CSX decides to change the scheme, they should do the rest of them like this.
CSX 2667 (last seaboard system paint)
Nice
Heritage!
Wow that's really cool good job
I was Just there In Clifton Forge a few weeks ago and I got to climb Into the cab

I have this unit in HO Scale

Wasn’t there a seaboard sd40 or SD40-2 that 1 also lasted in the late 90’s or early 2000’s with this hybrid scheme
Weren't the sd40-2s first made in 1972?? So why was 4617 made in 1971????????????
The Dash 2 version wasn’t introduced until 1972. KCS 637 was the first SD40-2 made even though her disposition is unknown
What the hell is this
What game is shown?
