Please stop posting comments regarding my comments on obesity in the section on episode 8. I have responded several times to several comments about the subject and I'm tired of repeating myself. Unless you have a new point to share, I don't want to see any more comments about it. Just talk about the rest of my video, please.
Additional edit: I feel obligated to apologize for my anger in the video. I'm poorly tempered and unfortunately this show gets under my skin easily. If you don't want anger, probably watch someone else.

I know we’re ignoring season 2 material for now, but a glaring issue I have with Truth Seekers is the vital stuff that Moxxie and Blitzo don’t see in their hallucinations that should’ve been there. These two were being faced with their biggest traumas and insecurities.
So why doesn’t Blitzo see his mom or sister. Moxxie sees nothing about his mom or dad, which makes me think that his backstory was just made up for season 2 episode 3.

@@cordyceps7531 They probably could’ve done that. But I still think the scene works regardless. With Moxxie, it was just him, Blitz, and their relationship. So it makes some amount of sense that didn’t hallucinate anyone else. Although that could’ve been an interesting idea, for Moxxie in his hallucination to use Crimson as a note of comparison.
For Blitz, he’s mainly displaying the recent characters he’s run in. As those would be on his mind the most.

Kinda like what happened with RWBY, helluva boss has an issue with lacking information about the world they live in and RWBY is the opposite, they give a lot of information but so much that it gets all tangle up and lacking some in many parts
RWBY had to create a separate segment dedicated to giving information that's too late to introduce now on the show
Is lacking but at least I hope helluva boss introduces more information before being too deep to back up as RWBY has suffered

@@Haphu15 RWBY and HB have a lot of overlap (I'll throw in HH too since that has pratically the same writing style) it's all about spectacle over substance. Maybe it would be fine if it was all just flashy stuff, but the shows go out of their way to do some deep emotional dramatic scenes (ala HB) or world-building that just comes out of nowhere (ala RWBY). With like zero build up, no lead in, no foreshadowing, just dumped on you for no reason then barely elaborated on. It's almost like a jump-scare in a sense, except instead of startling you it's trying to explain something or give some unearned character moment.
I think the shows have far too much fanfare and hype, given what you get when you watch it. It really feels like "Ohh flashy colors or designs" and people are too distracted by the jingling keys. I don't expect Helluva Boss to be perfect, but it really feels like it's being written on the fly and like they're not even trying. As if story and character come last and all that's important is the jokes, action and showing off concepts. I think that's why so many folks see it as fanfic-y, it's indulgent only to it's creator. Those episodes come off amazing to her because she already knows everything about the characters and story. Like we're not privvy to the show's plot and we are only getting breadcrumbs from her about the inner workings.
But also it's just written badly. Which is sad that all the animators had to work so hard for such a lackluster piece of media.

Yeah, you probably don't care, but the person playing Beezlebub is Kesha, who you might know for songs such as Tik Tok, Love is my Drug, and Timber.
She's pretty much the reason (nothing has been confirmed, but it's pretty obvious) the episode has been delayed for nearly two years, because she was embroiled in a lawsuit with Dr. Luke that got finished the month the episode finally released (June 2023).
What irks me the most about her is after all that effort, they do not have her sing the song. Let me repeat that: they had the episode in limbo for nearly two years for this person well known for her singing, only to not have her sing the song (although she did write it).
The only reason Viv wanted Kesha for this I reckon was fanservice for one of her old videos, an animation featuring Kesha's song 'Die Young' and a blue dog named Jayjay (which btw you can no longer find on Viv's channel because of this, which kinda renders the whole fanservice point moot as no new fan is going to get this).
Seriously, all this trouble could had been avoided if they had just went with Rochelle Diamante (the actual singer of the song) for both VA and singing and we would had the episode release on time and not leave people waiting 3/4 of a year for a episode that would go on to be very bad for the series.

I know this is old, but I just wanted to add something. Her torso looks to be made of a fire-like substance, causing anything she eats or drinks to just be... burned completely. Personally, I think this is actually a good choice, since it shows that she has no consequences for her overindulgence and gluttony. Imo, it makes here feel more like a sin, having nothing that stops her from acting out the bad behavior.
And then that idea was completely thrown out the window when Beelzebub was CONCERNED for Blitz at the party. Way to ruin the concept of a sin as a character, Viv.
This is actually a problem that I have with Asmodeus, too. Why the hell should the Sin of Lust be in a relationship and care about consent? That's ridiculous! It makes him seem more like a morally good character than... the SIN OF LUST. Honestly, Valentino is a better sin of lust than Asmodeus, and that's kinda sad.
This also makes Mammon my favorite out of all of them. He's actually sinful, and has no repercussions for his actions. He actually feels like the sin of greed, which is what we need more of.
Anyway, I'm not trying to say that you're wrong, I just personally think that Beelzebub having nothing happen to her body a good design choice, showing that she can just eat and indulge in whatever he wants. Idk, just a thought, you don't have to agree if you don't want to.

I think the critique of the writing comedy-wise can be pinpointed back to the other writer on HB, Brandon Rogers. A lot of his skits are overtly meant for curse words and gross topics placed in slapstick and watching some of his skits or series can really show that, although a lot of his actual writing that doesn't base it on swears is actually pretty unique and sort of mellows out the need for profanities in each scene.
I think its this point on why helluva boss is so odd with its writing, the comedy and serious storytelling are on two levels and it mixes and mashes in a weird way whenever you see the show on screen. at one point you have to laugh at a demon shouting the buck with an f word but then you need to clear cut shift to a serious moment about love and the scary villains and how they nearly killed the protagonists etc.

Gluttony isnt about food or "overweight people" as you stated
It's about overindulgence, and you can overindulge in absolutely anything
The food part was when food was sparse and not plentiful, like in the west. It's about cultural contexts, and the show is based in a really modern westernized context, so indulgence can be literally anything.
Yes, I agree there should be more body rep, and the show backhanded itself when they said "but it would be fatphobic to rep gluttony as fat" but then made greed fat, when both sins are heavily intertwined.
(also note: you said bee didnt do drugs, but in the show she did say that she did.(also drug consumers can look any type of way, stereotyping those who are drug dependent can lead to many not seeking help)

I believe you're thinking more of the sin of Greed
the sin of Gluttony (not the dictionary definition) is defined as overindulging in food
please understand most of my Christianity knowledge comes from research, not personal experience, but I would somewhat hope the show explains it for people like me
and if you're right about Bee mentioning doing drugs, that's my bad, but my point about her pristine appearance still stands if she "overindulges"

Also I feel like every episode should have one villain to focus on that then gets defeated at the end of the season. I am not a writer just a suggestion.

"Obesity is a complex and chronic disease with many causes. It is not simply a result of overeating."
"Obesity is not simply the result of excess calorie consumption. It is rather the direct consequence of a change in hormones that control body weight, energy metabolism and appetite."

Plus, there are different body types and some have a slower metabolism, meaning easier to gain weight than to lose. Despite normal amount of eating and not excess.

    • @maniCARNY
      @maniCARNY  10 месяцев назад +8

Okay? I know obesity isn't only caused by overeating. But there's the problem: "not simply". It can be caused by a number of issues, but it is very much in part a result of overeating, and is in fact one of THE most common causes, along with little physical activity (additionally, Beelzebub is often shown flying rather than walking). What's your source? I cited mine in the video.
And yes, it's perfectly possible Beezlebub just has a very strong metabolism. But so do I, and I still gain substantial weight if I eat a lot. But she eats a LOT-- she is a glutton. The ULTIMATE glutton. She should at least have some visible fat.
Also, call it ignorance, but how is my lack of research offensive? If I said "I think skinny characters suck and they should all be fat" THAT'S fatphobic. But I didn't say that.

    The thing you mention about people being fat as a result of overeating , as if it's a 100% fact is a bit... well... wrong. ^^;
Some people are fat because of genetics or just because they gain weight faster, not because they spend a alot of time over eating. There's thin people that overeat/ eat lots of junk food (myself included!) and we aren't fat.
So... idk, I think being like "it's science" is kinda messed up but otherwise your commentary is nice!

    • @maniCARNY
      @maniCARNY  8 месяцев назад +4

Genetics do play a part in gaining/maintaining weight, however they are not "a" cause. They are only a contributor. People can often overcome obesity despite their genetic background. You can also avoid it altogether if you maintain yourself well; exercise enough to burn off the calories you gain by eating (in other words: overeating).
It's also been found genetics is not a primary cause because obesity is a universal condition. All groups of people can be affected by it, although genetics can make it more difficult for some. It's not a cause for obesity.
Lastly, thin people can avoid obesity. This can be a number of factors, mainly relating to environmental factors. Personally, I have food trauma which for the longest time disallowed me to eat like a normal human. Other people may eat slower (allowing them to realize they're full before a faster eater, meaning they're less at risk for overeating), exercise more, and, back on point, have good genetics. Again, we go to the point of these being habits to avoid overeating.
There's a counterpoint; Beelzebub flies a lot and dances a lot. But I reiterate: she is the PRINCE OF GLUTTONY. She is also, as I eloquently put it, "skinny as a stick". Someone like her, who likely eats large amounts of food (prince of gluttony) would likely find it difficult to burn off all those calories. She also consumes drugs, according to the episode, so I'm surprised she can do so many physical stunts anyway.
Basically, I can believe that Beelzebub manages to burn off all those calories, despite being THE GLUTTON of all time, without the show telling me, but I'm going to have to raise an eyebrow to it. I only gave this long-winded response because I am constantly being falsely corrected on the subject. I appreciate the added complement though.
Also, if you eat a lot of junk food, you might be experiencing health problems regardless of your weight. Just a tip.

@@maniCARNY I appreciate the stuff you sent I’m just making a point that it’s not ALWAYS that fat people are fat because they eat more.
To say it’s always that and not because they just are fat, the same way some people just are skinny makes it seem as if we’re all born skinny and then have to maintain that.
When that isn’t the case necessarily.
Some people that are fat can go to the gym and work against being fat or burn it off sure but in their “normal” state they just are fat.

For every fat person on earth they aren’t fat because they over ate is what I’m saying. 😅

It's a really good analysis, but sometimes you sound waaaay too harsh with parts that are obviously just meant to be jokes (the young and old part on cherubs for example)

    • @maniCARNY

fair, but I was genuinely getting angry while reading my script just because of how many pseudo-jokes/mistakes there were in the episode
if the old/young switch was a joke it wasn't very apparent, is what I mean

I am fully aware the show can be liked by adults; they're the target audience.
I certainly agree, the show is not really for me. I loved the concept introduced in the pilot, but when I realized I wasn't getting that I slowly lost interest. Still, I tried to sit through the episodes and give honest objective thoughts (plus some personal opinions, so that the video is unique).
It's good you enjoy the show, I have no problem with that. And I'm glad you have no problem with me. I just hope my video isn't being invalidated just because the show might not appeal to me. There are flaws that I pointed out, and if you don't care for them then more power to you. Some people, like me, do care if a show is flawed.
I hope I don't come off too aggressively in my comments..

You genuinely like calarts outlined crap that's basically done for beginners animation courses in both uni and community colleges? That...kind of displays how I can see it, from your perspective liking a show that has much lack in character development, multiple resets within that area, and most of it would be called out in real life by people. I.e. they have not changed in their behaviors. Which does show in both season 1 and 2. Keep in mind I'm 21 a year older then you, and am studying into Animation. The show, really would not be taken in seriousness by some companies.
