I'm the owner. Bummed to have taken anything away from the review by not being enthusiastic enough. I am proud to be able to own one of the iconic cars of my youth, one at the top of my Dream Car list, but the adage "never meet your heroes" rings true for here. I'm a car guy through and through and spend all of my free time modifying, showing, and racing cars. My personality comes out more in the garage or on the race track than on camera. For those who wouldn't want to have a beer with me, first round is on me if you bump into me at the bar!
I can't believe the negative attacks on the owner. Car guys, any car guys should appreciate a great video about an awesome and rare example. Kudos to the owner for a gentleman's and true officianado's response. I would gladly enjoy a beer and car talk with Rob, even without the means to own such a classic iconic sports car. JT
Rob I'm a little late on this comment, just watched the vid, we share the same teenage Porsche dreams and Porsche posters on walls. 1 day I hope to bring it to life as you did. Wish you the best of luck with this and any dream car especially Porsche and thanks for sharing.
I sold my factory 87 grand prix white slant 930 about 4 years ago for 45k. Just saw the same car go across the block the other day at 140k. Ready to jump off the bridge over that car.
Could of done the same with R32 GTR Skylines from Japan. Back in the day around. 06/07' you could get them in Canada for 7-10 grand. Now US customers are buying them for no less then 25k plus wow should have bought 3 sell two of them lol.
wow! That is the nicest looking original interior I have seen on a 35 year old car! Great find and who ever owned it before was very meticulous in taking care of that beauty. Such a great piece of Porsche history. One of the great icons of the 1980s. thanks for sharing your car with us!
that has always been a dream car of mine, I can remember looking at a brand new one at a dealer my uncle worked at back in the late 80's. Ever since its never left my memory and want list.
I remember this car from smokey and the bandit or cannonball run. So awesome, never seen one in person. I bet for many car enthusiasts this was the first time they ever saw it. This car is priceless. Congrats for the owner, this will rise in value for sure. I would never sell it. Even if you're 70 you'll still be able to enjoy this.
I usually complain that lately this channel is TheSmokingPorsche, but for a 930 Turbo Slantnose I will make an exception. If I was to have one Porsche, it would probably be this one.
not disputing that, the Porsche I drove was a great drive...but it is monotonous to see the same car being reviewed repeatedly. Yes, I know they are different from gen to gen in small ways...but still basically the same damn car. Also, Porsche's are so flawlessly good, they are not really exciting anyways...just perfectly competent.
LOVE how this guy always gooses it after the turn-around point, on CHALKY GRAVEL!!!! , then continues to corner like he's on a track...IN OTHER PEOPLE'S CARS, LOL. Love this guy 🍻
Awesome video, and car. My old man owned a 1980 930 turbo 3.3L (not slant nosed) in exactly the same colour albeit with green leather interior from new. Had some minor mods that helped it net 350-360hp. The only other way you could experience similar 'throw you back in your seat' acceleration back in those days was in a jet airplane taking off. Was amazing back in the day, but nothing special in this day in age. I believe the 4 speed was retained in the 930 turbo as the 5 speed couldn't reliably handle the torque.
Awesome car. I like the old school slant nose porsches just as good as the regular 911s. Either is as good as the other. I remember when dupont registry had dozens and dozens of them for sale. Thanks for bringing me back in time.
Packrus Supra's are very capable GT handlers, most are simply not properly setup. The MKIV put down .98G on a skidpad on '93 tire technology and had a stopping distance from 70-0 in 158ft and from 60 in 112, something that wasn't beaten until Carrera GT. Definitely more than capable when properly setup in the right hands.
Im glad that owner soon opened up in this video.. he had such a skeptical look on his face.. but i guess anyone would, letting someone drive their special car, and hoping they wont act a fool in it lol. Love those slants.. i got a 996 and regret selling the first one i had which was roller status. I couldve done all kinds of customizations to it
I must start by saying I have never driven a 930. I feel though, that the point of the 4 speed was actually to feel the lag, really feel the boost build. Maybe I'm crazy and just want a 4sp 930
You know Matt, you have driven some truly special cars man. Thank you for sharing your experiences and allowing me to see these rare cars in the palm of my hand. Thanks for all that you’ve done, and I look forward to your new content on the way. You are truly appreciated! @smokingtire
Heads up Matt. This car has almost certainly been given a factory conversation. Check out the screen shot at 33 seconds. It has the correct but wonky looking elongated front profile. Notice how much of the plastic shroud between the hood and bumper are exposed. Most aftermarket examples tried to minimize this, making the car slightly shorter and arguably much better proportioned. The real test with this particular example would actually be the rear fender slats. They were made of wood from the factory, believe it or not. All the best in 2018 pal. Cheers, Michael.
Why would he do that? He's got a similar demeanor to my best nucka. He comes off as a technical, intelligent dude. He's got a sense of humor, you just gotta massage it out of him a bit.
The owner of that LSB E46 pulled over to chat. He was a really cool dude with a great car! He was out doing shakedown runs that day after recent motor work. He was hustling that car through the canyons!
Kinda... I gave Matt the option to review any of my cars and this is the one he chose. Were it up to me, we'd be going a lot faster in another car and I'd have more to say.
The most beautiful 911 ever made. The designer was either some German dude trying to get a job at Pininfarina or some disgruntled expat Italian working in Stuttgart.
Beautiful car. One of my dream cars as well. Bro, you got an authentication letter from Porsche... case closed. Just enjoy the car and don’t worry about nonsense. You got a beautiful 930 slant nose.
i just put 1k miles on a 88 5spd 930 slant nose in red and i feel the car was goddamn planted and drove pretty darn fast overall solid car with a feel that was to die for you felt as if you were in a movie.. for reference my 2 other cars are. Fully bolted on 135i bmw with 20k in mods and a 640i 4 dr stock. Not once did i feel the porsche was lacking in terms of grip power or anything
@HighCountry Pioneer yeah I remember about 15 years ago sitting with friends talking about how easy it would be to basically "look rich" by buying older luxury / sports cars. I wouldn't worry about it. Some people just like being vindictive from their mom's basement. Now keep driving that beautiful machine!

Right on, Jonathan! Hit me up anytime you're in LA and we can talk cars and go for a canyon run in a rare and awesome car.
Rob I'm a little late on this comment, just watched the vid, we share the same teenage Porsche dreams and Porsche posters on walls. 1 day I hope to bring it to life as you did. Wish you the best of luck with this and any dream car especially Porsche and thanks for sharing.
very funny comments, cool car dude
People are mad that this guy is a little monotone, but he was such a knowledgeable and pleasant guest with an amazing car. Great One Take!
Looks fricken amazing to me. What a fantastic looking car.
laowhy86 lol the famous c milk. Im a huge prozzie fan and found u and winston thru him. Love your youtube content and conquering china series.
Also id love to see u come to canada for a meet and greet if ur ever back in america.
laowhy86 you missing the US yet bro.
If Porsche says it’s a slant nose it’s a slant nose. Debate over
+billiam S Toyota once told me that there's no such thing as a TT headgasket for the Supra....
Supraman 😂 Toyota fail
This Crazy Tangerine Yeah, big time.
billiam S true
I sold my factory 87 grand prix white slant 930 about 4 years ago for 45k. Just saw the same car go across the block the other day at 140k. Ready to jump off the bridge over that car.
You made 45k man xD
who knew the market was gonna go this crazy and you still made some good money imo
I would never sell a factory 930 slant nose.
Yep. I almost bought a 930 Trubo for $33.5K about 6 years ago.
Could of done the same with R32 GTR Skylines from Japan. Back in the day around. 06/07' you could get them in Canada for 7-10 grand. Now US customers are buying them for no less then 25k plus wow should have bought 3 sell two of them lol.
As the owner of a 1987 factory slant nose 930 cabriolet in triple black, I really enjoyed this little video. Thanks.
One of the best Porsches on the show to date, awesome spec and colour combination. A real treat Matt!
wow! That is the nicest looking original interior I have seen on a 35 year old car! Great find and who ever owned it before was very meticulous in taking care of that beauty. Such a great piece of Porsche history. One of the great icons of the 1980s. thanks for sharing your car with us!
Lol . I doubt youll ever see one of these abused inside or out unless it was wrecked
It's not often Matt offers to buy a car from someone, that's how you know it's good. :)
Especially when you hear him make THAT noise off 7:58 hearing its Eurospec horsepower.
I love the Porsche 930's. Its Absolutely beautiful! I have an uncle in Santa Barbra with a 911 SC Targa. Thanks.
that has always been a dream car of mine, I can remember looking at a brand new one at a dealer my uncle worked at back in the late 80's. Ever since its never left my memory and want list.
awesome car. my father had a '77 turbo carrera and will always be my favorite car. the exhaust note was a sound i will always cherish.
Lucky bastard. I love the Turbo Carreras.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful 80s machine. That engine sounded great and I love the interior / exterior color combo.
The guy who sold this on Craig's List is crying right now
ROTFL.... He was already crying as it left his driveway though.
@@alphazoomii9408 LOL we own it now
@@MostFilms. nice.....
And crying even more now!
I remember back in the 80's as a kid slant noses being all the hype.
I remember this car from smokey and the bandit or cannonball run. So awesome, never seen one in person. I bet for many car enthusiasts this was the first time they ever saw it.

ChaosphereIX it's not his fault they're so good to drive
not disputing that, the Porsche I drove was a great drive...but it is monotonous to see the same car being reviewed repeatedly. Honestly... I'm not a huge Porsche fan, but I'd totally take a bunch of 911s instead of a flood of WRXes and Evos and shit.
I do agree Troggie. But there are hundreds of sports cars built in history, variety is good.
Well it’s safe to say Matt is very biased towards Porsche cars.
That is quite possibly the coolest 911 ever produced. What a classic badass car.
I, not even a big Porsche 911 guy but fuck yes, ohhhhh. Fuuuuck yes
LOVE how this guy always gooses it after the turn-around point, on CHALKY GRAVEL!!!! , then continues to corner like he's on a track...IN OTHER PEOPLE'S CARS, LOL. Love this guy 🍻
Don't even give a shit that this channel is slowly becoming "TheSmokingPorsche" this is dope as fuck
The only Porsche I’ve ever driven was a black 82 Turbo Slope just like this one. It was in the late 90’s but I will never forget that experience.👌🏽
Awesome video, and car. My old man owned a 1980 930 turbo 3.3L (not slant nosed) in exactly the same colour albeit with green leather interior from new. From the little we saw of it, amazing condition for a 35 year old Porsche, most are pretty well ragged by that age. Nice one Matt!
Awesome car. I like the old school slant nose porsches just as good as the regular 911s. Either is as good as the other. I remember when dupont registry had dozens and dozens of them for sale. Thanks for bringing me back in time.
We need a supra one take, not a single turbo straight line monster, but a proper balanced supra...maybe stock!
Iceman7 BPU
Supras can't handle
Packrus Supra's are very capable GT handlers, most are simply not properly setup. Supra lol thats just a boy toy ricer rocket with no class. Shiiit !
+leanlifter1 The irony of your ignorant uneducated post and "class" is on another level.
The weirdo car selection recently has been excellent. Bravo
Always loved the slant nosed 911's. Nice car and nice review.
Truly a work of art. Drop dead gorgeous. Why don't they make cars that look that good anymore?
The Vanilla Ice Porsche.
Beautiful looking, beautiful sounding, beautifully-constructed vault of a German machine. I SOOO wish I had some coin...
Im glad that owner soon opened up in this video.. he had such a skeptical look on his face.. but i guess anyone would, letting someone drive their special car, and hoping they wont act a fool in it lol.
Love those slants.. i got a 996 and regret selling the first one i had which was roller status. I couldve done all kinds of customizations to it
Great car. All the 930 turbos had the 4-speed gearbox until '88. Porsche used 5-speed from '89 until '94 (930, 964). Anyway, great video, great car
Always gonna be some idiot that will argue with factory authenticated work.
This car always reminds me of Vanilla Ice
WhiteBoard Finance lmao!!
Rollin'! In the 5 point O........
His was a Gemballa
Speaking of vanilla.....hey...guy...perk up. You drive a slant nose. Like...freak out already!
Fox body
ALWAYS entertaining, this guy. Thanx 4 the vids!!!!!!!
I really like the slant nose Porsches, thanks Matt!
Loved these since I first saw one.
The car is really cool. Everyone is always hard on the owner. He was super honest about his feelings with the car .
That is a slick looking Porsche!
Glad this guy takes it out into the wild. Sadly most slantnose's are probably being snatched up and stored, likely even the "fake" ones.
If a "fake one" is done right, and modded to higher performance than an original.. for the right price i want that.
I've a 1996 993 C2 and YOUR car is gorgeous!
That's a good looking slant nose! Not normally a fan, but it sure looks nice here.
Looks like you're ending in a huge influx of Porsche one takes. Love them, hope to own one in the future
Brilliant Channel All The Best Of Health To You.
By far my most favorite Porsche of all time
Heads up Matt. This car has almost certainly been given a factory conversation. Check out the screen shot at 33 seconds. It has the correct but wonky looking elongated front profile. Fender slats are indeed wood.
I like to drive cars. Not trade them.
Broke, huh?
I've loved these since I saw one in person
I love my 1988 930, With 4 speed! Great GT car.
Best looking Porsches were the Slantnoses . I was 18 in 1982 and always wanted one .
Thanks for the Porsche video's.
One of the best looking cars ever!
The 1978 930 3.3 is my absolute dream car
Damn slant nose 930's are cool.
Did the owner kill himself after the vid?
nibot kram lmao!
Solid!!! Lololololol
lol
Why would he do that? He's got a similar demeanor to my best nucka. He comes off as a technical, intelligent dude. He's got a sense of humor, you just gotta massage it out of him a bit.
wtf is a nucka
Dear god, before I die I want one of these. This is a dream car
LSB E46 M3 at 4:50
The owner of that LSB E46 pulled over to chat. He was a really cool dude with a great car! He was out doing shakedown runs that day after recent motor work. He was hustling that car through the canyons!
Rob Hastings that is awesome! Man I wish I had roads like that here in Florida!
Rob Hastings hey it’s you ! Ahahaha nice car man! This was my Introduction to slantnose Porsche’s & I definitely prefer the styling
Did Casey ever get you sorted out? If not, remember to try Castros.
Epic car, thanks Matt!
Cool car in beautiful condition
One of the prettiest Porsche’s ever, nice job Matt
Owner must be a lot of fun at parties
lmfao
Looks really like the one I had, very fun little car. Beat the hell out of it too!
I love that Matt has gone down the Porsche rabbit hole since he got a 911! There is no substitution!
Don't know why, but slant nose Porsche 911s have always been my favorite
This is the kind of guy who gets on TST so he can sell it and feature the TST video on the advertisement
Kinda... I gave Matt the option to review any of my cars and this is the one he chose. Were it up to me, we'd be going a lot faster in another car and I'd have more to say.
So what dude? It's a great platform for trading. It's not your car.
That is a pure beauty, even for modern automotive generation
You're kidding me right? Especially with that outrageous duckbill spoiler this thing is an eye sore
lol u funny, and what ever with the spoiler, that car still a piece of art
The most beautiful 911 ever made. The designer was either some German dude trying to get a job at Pininfarina or some disgruntled expat Italian working in Stuttgart.
Cool car. Cool dude. Cool video. 😀
My dream car. If you were to put this next to any other car in the world, I would pick this.
What if Singer modified slant nose Porsches ????
It would be amazing
I once saw one of those parked up in Whitby, and it had Q-plates. 😳
It would’ve been a Covin kit car on a VW base
Beautiful car. One of my dream cars as well. Bro, you got an authentication letter from Porsche... case closed. Just enjoy the car and don’t worry about nonsense. You got a beautiful 930 slant nose.
omg slant nose is so beautiful
Tunnel lume shots on the BLNR get me excited for the new podcast
best Porshes ever made.
i just put 1k miles on a 88 5spd 930 slant nose in red and i feel the car was goddamn planted and drove pretty darn fast overall solid car with a feel that was to die for you felt as if you were in a movie.. for reference my 2 other cars are. Fully bolted on 135i bmw with 20k in mods and a 640i 4 dr stock. Not once did i feel the porsche was lacking in terms of grip power or anything
I'm jist going to give a like because is my favorite car
I used to dig slantnose 930s, but, while they are definitely unique and an 80s icon...I like the classic 911 exposed lights look much more now.
can't wait for the one take with that white Jeep Compass....
I wonder how much these cars cost in the US. Here in germany a factory slant nose in this condition is damn expensive.
Collin Kreutzer they used to be affordable a few years ago until the 911 internet hype showed it's ugly face, now they're expensive.
was koschten die hier?
A good one could hit 200k
@HighCountry Pioneer yeah I remember about 15 years ago sitting with friends talking about how easy it would be to basically "look rich" by buying older luxury / sports cars. Looked at a few Porsches all in good shape that cost less than a new Toyota at the time. Now? Not so much. I'm not even sure if you get a 914 cheaply now.
That's a nice interior
i could feel buddies nerves as they first pulled out lol
WYWOK me as well I just started cracking up his facial expression
I was nervous, but not for the reasons you are thinking... I had a bunch of cameras pointed right at my face and that's not where I'm most comfortable. Matt had just taken me on a ride through that canyon in the new NSX at full rip and I had no doubt about his ability to control the 930.
id be nervous letting anyone drive my baby
A bit off topic, but Matt. Can you get Dan Greenawalt to scan the canyons so we flat landers can play around in the hills a bit. I'm getting to know this route from your videos but I'm itching to put it on my driving sim.
Loved this car since I first saw it in the movie True Romance
Great car .. like all vintage cars, you drive and lovethem as they deserve it 😊 modern cars offer more performance but no character 😎 or nostalgia.
I love these slant turbos.
Beautiful car!
Slant noise is sick!
most beautiful car porsche made. BEAUTIFUL...
Love this car!
Good to see Matt is on the P Car train.
Reminds me of my old 1984 Audi 4000s. A/c works when it wants to. Cold Michigan winter day. Drive 20 miles before the heat blows warm. 80s German car problems.
In love with this
Probably the best looking car Porsche made....
Just want to say two things..
1 The 930 had 4-speed gearbox becourse 5 -speed could't handle the tourqe.
2. Factory 930 3.3l Européen car has only 300 bhp. But the factory 930 Slatnose had 330 bhp
Greetings from one modiefied 930 owner
Jimmie
Hey Matt? Aren't those vents in the back part of the Slant Nose option? I wonder if the conversion did that as well... Great video and you drive really well! What is with the folks always giving you the right-of-way? You live a charmed life! :)
Wasn't this from the era Porsche was slapping lead plates in the front to keep the balance more neutral?
