    @Kathilisi : The girl who sings in this video is Miriam Peirone, we registered her live performance here in Milan, at the end of a tolkien-fan festival. I don't know who is the music composer.

    This song makes me think of the shy young elf maiden that played with Túrin in his youth in Doriath and watched over him... it's the feeling of innocence and beauty that this voice gives me i guess

    Check Petri Tikka singing in Quenya a song called Satumaa (Fairytaleland - a Finnish tango). It's called Nyárenor in Quenya.
    The lyrics are surprisingly similar in theme and the spirit of longing.
    (Choose the song text in English from the settings)
    Though in Satumaa, it's about the hope of such place existing, when Namárië is about reminiscence of a homeland lost, for many years - but not likely forever.

    I believe I'll try learning Quenya after I've learned Sindarin :P Although it's quite difficult since the language is far from complete, and there aren't enough sorces to take help from... Therefore I think Quenya will be much easier ^^ I just fell for the Sindarin language, so beautiful.

    The pronunciation is very off in some parts but its a beautiful rendition. I give it a 9.9/10 because this is a difficult poem to sing. Its very possible to sing the poem with the exact pronunciation but the tune and pacing would be slightly different than this.

    Sì ma questa pur bellissima musica non rende l'idea del metro fatto di versi dodecasillabi quantitativi somiglianti a certi metri greci (trimetro giambico) qualcuno dovrebbe provare a rimusicarla tenendo conto di questa retta scansione ritmica.

    This is very beautiful. I've been entertaining the idea of learning some of Tolkien's elvish tongues since seeing the Hobbit movies recently. It's too bad they are not developed enough to be fully useable, as they are so beautiful to hear. Esperanto's sound pales in comparison, but it's beauty is more in its purpose, anyway.

    • @EucarionAlcaril
      @EucarionAlcaril 10 лет назад +3

      I do not thing so! Both Sindarin and Quenya are developed enough for common use. Try to look harder and you will find some guide for their use.

    • @jibajaba2010
      @jibajaba2010 10 лет назад +2

      I believe the language that this song is in, Quenya, is the only complete Elvish language Tolkien created. But don't quote me on that.

    • @neniugrava
      @neniugrava 10 лет назад +4

      EucarionAlcaril I have indeed looked, and of the two languages Quenya is the only one near useability. It is complete in that its grammar is completely known (unlike Sindarin), but more than grammar is needed to make a full language. The major thing holding Quenya back is the locked state of the language (no new vocabulary, no non-Tolkien phrases, etc.), and as far as I've read there is not enough material in Sindarin to reconstruct a full grammar.
      You may be able to hold meaningful conversations in either language, but even those who write courses say they are not developed enough for common use.

    • @neniugrava
      @neniugrava 10 лет назад +3

      Chantelle and Erykah
      Yeah, this is in Quenya. I must add that "complete" and "ready for common use" are very separate things. Unless people allow the language to evolve and create new words Quenya will remain a "dead language" as unsuitable for common use as Latin. I believe there are already "factions" relating to specifics that are ambiguous from Tolkien's own works.

    • @EucarionAlcaril
      @EucarionAlcaril 10 лет назад

      Tolkien used it commonly in his work, so I thing, it could be commonly used :D . If he lived longer, he would of course work on it more ... It would be never "complete" his language has evolved with time but in the way for "common use" it could be completed.

    I actually think the PJ version is a beautiful rendition. There were so many ways PJ could have screwed up Tolkien's artwork. There were only a few mistakes in the movie that I sincerely believe could have been removed. On the other hand, it is so much easier to create scenery in books as you do not need to go to New Zealand and build the Shirt :). But I respect your opinion.
