      Yeah, that was my thought as well. 10k seems a little excessive compared to the 4000€ over here. But I think it is a matter of import taxes and customs. That's probably why the price increases so steeply.

      May I ask you where you use it for? Timberframing? I'm Dutch but i've never seen one being used here.

    • @mrhortimer1
      @mrhortimer1 3 года назад +1

      @@donderjager4770 it can be used for timberframing as well as anywhere where you have to cut beams over 100mm (I think that is the minimum cut depth of that particular saw). For example in large production buildings where the roof construction is made from wood. Or pole frame buildings. Basically any beam that you'd have to cross cut multiple times to go through.

      @@adammacer don’t know other brands’s beam saws, but this one has a riving Knife, maybe that helps avoiding pinching? Just my opinion, I don’t know for sure.

      Those saws never really kick back. The slow RPM, ratio of power to weight and especially the diameter of the blade make it far less powerful than normal size saws per kilo. They just stop and that's it.

    Get yourself the makita 5143r. It has 130mm cutting depth at a third the price of a similar sized mafell. Then when you really use it a lot and not just once a year get a mafell. They are lighter, more powerful, more durable, but they come at a price. And while you're at it get the mafell ZSX Ec carpenters chain saw for rip cutting. You will love them

    No kidding that saw is intimidating - I was wary of using them when I first started working at a Swiss-owned framing shop when I first moved to Canada 10 years back.. they had the full Mafell compliment from 85 up to 185.. Amazing saws that cut beautifully.. but that's not the biggest - a buddy has the 24"-bladed two-man saw that is just insane.. and insanely heavy with the massive motor it features..
