Can't explain it but you ground me, especially when I'm floundering trying to decide what to do next.
Another hack for stencils is to mod podge the stencil first. Then paint. Also you can paint the base color. Let it completely dry then do the color you want. 😊
@@bobbywinters3837I’ve tried both of those 😂 and sadly major bleeding. I think the problem might also be that my stencils often get bent edges, so they need to be glued down flat. Mod Podge might peel off in strips if I use it in that way when I go to remove the stencil so I went for the glue stick! ❤🎉

oh Holly, these DIY'S are all so beautiful and they certainly look store bought. You've inspired me to take my bucket that I never used for Fall, and I'm going to do something similar. Yours is so gorgeous. The other 2 projects as well. My opinion would be to add a scarf and I thought the black and white check compliments the whole look. I can’t paint or draw to save my life!!! One way I learned to control a small paint brush was painting my own wooden signs, before I ever had a Cricut. I would print out the text I wanted and then I rubbed a pencil on the back and traced it onto the board and basically “colored in the lines”. One Christmas I made everyone wooden signs. I loved ALL of your projects !

These are all awesome! Ya know you can find sticky stencils, or a great tip I learned on RUclips was to put the stencil on your surface, paint over it with ModPadge, let it dry thoroughly, then paint with the stencil still on. The paint won't bleed through because of the Mod Podge. It works!! The stencil has to be cleaned well after. Have a great weekend
I tried the Mod Podge trick, and I don’t know what I did wrong, but the painted edges were still all jagged when I went to lift the stencil. The glue stick is the first method that actually did work for me and was super easy almost 0 drying time and definitely cheaper than using the MP. Lol Thank you for the sweet comment! ❤️⛄️❄️🥰❄️

Hi Holly, just a suggestion about stenciling, I use a stencil brush and the trick is not too much paint on the brush or sponge. That causes leaking under the stencil. I use painter’s tape to hold the stencil down. I’ve been doing it for years with no problems. Hugs!
I’ve tried this and still jagged edges. I don’t suppose you could film yourself and upload it on RUclips and give me your link so I could watch YOUR technique up close? If you make the video private, only the people that have the link can see it.

I use a pouncing motion, using a stiff stenciling brush that has very little paint on it. I also hold down the stencil as I go.
