    Thanks for this video, just finishing figuring out the setup of my new camera. I'd love to know if you can tell me what I'm missing, or if it's a great idea, it's a combo from several youtubers and the manual's descriptions, plus some experimentation. I have two back buttons for focus: one for Tracking On + AF On, and the other for AF-On. ALL the focus zones I have available are NON-tracking because with the tracking + af button, they become tracking. And when I press AF-On, there's no tracking but it still has the same focus zone. Then I also have a toggle for Subject Ref On, and another to cycle through the subjects. So far this has worked great, but it's only been three weeks. After watching this video I will also make an Action button, and maybe another one for fully manual single shots. Thanks!

    I just got an A7RV, and am still learning about it, if I am getting this wrong please straighten it out for me! The A7RV has a feature you can just turn on and leave on: Full Time DMF. When that's on, you can stay in AF-C, and the manual focus ring just works, although the magnified view does not come up unless you turn it to MF on the camera or on the lens.

    • @GunterdieGudrun

    • @ollenilssonen
      @ollenilssonen  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@GunterdieGudrun I think what @ameleh61 refers to is a feature called ”Full Time DMF”
      It’s basically the same thing but you don’t need to press the AF-on button for it to work. That feature is only available when pairing the camera with certain newer Sony lenses, I believe!😄

    • @ameleh61
      @ameleh61 5 месяцев назад

      @@GunterdieGudrun On the A7R5, Full Time DMF as a Focus Mode is there, but it is also available as a setting that allows you to stay in an automatic focus mode, but still move the focus ring to either get final focus, or to tell the camera where you want to focus so you can then hit autofocus again and it knows what you want. It's the best of both worlds, as far as I can tell. Here's from the online manual: If you set [Full Time DMF] to [On], you can always perform manual focusing operations without setting [Focus Mode] to [DMF]. There are some exceptions, and it does not bring up the magnifier, so maybe it's not as good as the way he's got it.

    • @funnybeingme
      @funnybeingme 5 месяцев назад

      @@ameleh61 The DMF is great for fine tuning your focus after achieving AF and then you take the shot. However, after each shot, you have to use AF again and second, it doesn't work with tracking.

    Instead of BBAF I simply map AF lock to AF-on button. Lock focus where you want, press the AF-on, recompose, shoot.
    Instead of assigning AF/MF toggle to say AEL I prefer to assign Recall custom hold to it like you described later on. In this case - S tracking area to quickly focus on small object and being able to recompose at the same time.

    I'm not understanding the benefit of having both AF/MF Selector Toggle and back-button focus as stated in your video.
    I prefer and use the AF/MF Selector Toggle as an advanced back-button focus setup. When I press it, it goes to complete manual focus and I can press the shutter button without going back to AF. Also I have my red record button as a focus magnifier which helps for magnifying the subject when manual focusing.
    I like this setup better because I use my camera for general purpose so if I hand the camera to someone (I just declick the AF/MF Selector Toggle or when I turn off the camera and back on it resets the shutter to full AF) they won't get confuse as to why the camera isn't focusing when they half press the shutter (compared to the classic back button focus where the shutter doesn't do any AF).
    Also thanks I will definitely utilize that Action Button (assigned to m AEL button)!

    I am surprised you set your panic high-shutter speed button to set the exposure to -1.3. I would have expected the opposite, when i go into high shutter speed bird in flight mode i increase exposure to +1.0 or more, because birds will often go against the bright sky as backdrop and if i dont up-expose the bird will just come out black, and autofocus will struggle.
    anyway great video, i will try some of the things!
