Something No one brings up anymore is that catalysts have a drop cap for uncompleted catalysts. This include catalyst AND exotic quests. more than 5 catalyst and or exotic quests and the RNG halves for the next catalyst drop, once the incomplete number is 15... You will no longer get any RNG catalyst drops
I am not sure this is correct but i could be wrong. I have finished 17/34 on Kinetic weapons, 18/34 on Energy and 11/18 in Heavy. Yet whenever a new catalyst drops (one example is Levi's breath), i get them within the first day or within a couple strikes. I only finish the catalysts for the weapons i tend to use. I have them all, just not completed.
The way I grinded the witherhoard catalyst was to bring ace of spades with a wave frame GL in crucible. Around two to three shots with the ace then I just shoot the GL at the ground to finish people off
Regardless, what weapons you use is just strictly for You and Your playstyle. RUclips doesn't dictate what you should use. Simple as that. Got my Monaco and Thunderlord Cat last night. Good with that for now. Not bad for just coming back in the game since 2017.

Trinity Ghoul is my #1 exotic, and the catalyst makes it one of the best ad clear weapons even without exotic armor or mods.
Outbreak Perfected. So much fun to shoot, and catalyst makes it deadly.
Why is everyone forgetting about tractor cannon!? 😂 that’s gun has 4 shots in the mag and 4 in reserve without the cat

The Vex catalyst is a pain to get done. I don't think Vex is that useful of a weapon outside of fusions being part of the seasonal artifact.
