I would have absolutely agreed with you maybe 5-6 years ago but Ferrari has really gotten their head back in the game recently. Just look at the SP3 Daytona and especially the Roma. After almost 20 years they finally remembered how to make a beautiful car.
What used to set Ferrari road cars apart from the loud, extroverted Lamborghinis, and the brutal and technical Porsches and Mercede, is that their designs used to have a certain sensual elegance to them; they were understated and yet immediately said Ferrari.
They really lost that in the 2000s when their designs began to look like they had a good start, and then at some stage in the process a random intern decided to take a box cutter to the clay model, carve out random sections and call it finished.

    • @spdcrzy

This stirrs the same bits inside me as did the original Vanquish when I was a kid and saw it for the first time with James Bond drifting it on ice in Die Another Day. The styling isn't an instant hit for me, perhaps in person the back end may make more sense but the fact that this machine has a twin-turbo V12 already makes it a wonder in such world.
If i had pockets this deep, i wouldn't mind getting one just to see if i trully like it. Bet this thing will appreciate

You sense the passion and 'drive' behind the design and production of the Vanquish. Oh my she's a beauty isn't she? Elegant, stylish and fearsome. There's a reason Aston Martin is so iconic. I am surprised for the price of these new supreme hypercars. They dont have loads more carbon fiber. Carbon fiber drive shafts. Etc. They can make these things compete with jets. But I think they are scared to make it too light and not enough downforce. Smooth coffin on wheels wont sell.

I feel like everyone is becoming a cynic these days. All I read is how the W1, F80, and this are ugly or a poor design. To me, all of these cars are amazing and they leave me excited for future designs.

I think we are in auto limbo where nobody knows what people want anymore...ev or gas? Million vents vs clean design. Also...look at performance...etc. Top speed has generally increased, acceleration has generally increased, excitement has decreased. In the 90's, we loved the Viper because it was beautiful, brutish, and would kill you. Now, anyone can drive a 500hp car with all the driver aids, massive weight and massive tires. It is boring. What is today's e type? BMW m30? Etc. Every manufacturer just makes their own clone of whatever is selling.
