- Hey everyone, as you all know I've been trying natural deodorants for a while now and I wanted to put together a more comprehensive review of a few well known aluminum-free deodorants currently on the market.
I broke this review up into sections based on price beginning with a full review of Native deodorant and then comparing it to other premium natural deodorants -- Lume & Lone. Then again, against drug store natural deodorants -- Arm & Hammer and Crystal. If you're interested in trying natural deodorants I'm hoping that this video can be a good jump off into beginning to figure out what works for you and your body. There are a ton of natural deodorants on the market now, but I think this video is a good place to start.

I have high maintenance pits. I use the crystal liquid straight out of the shower, let it dry and then top it with Native in the mineral scent.

I use a mixture of surgical alcohol and bay rum mixed in a small spray bottle. It works for me. I am 60 years old and lives in Barbados.

Hallease I love Magsol deodorant. Purchased from Amazon. I’ve been using it for about 2 years. It has 4 very simple ingredients-magnesium oxide, sweet almond oil, beeswax, and then an essential oil for whichever scent. My favorite scents are Rose and Jasmine. I’ve noticed that I have been using less deodorant since using this brand as well.
Got Lume and Native ads before this lol so on brand. I've been using Crystal for a couple months and there's only been a few times that they didnt work but great to know of these others to see about trying them.

I've had severe hyperhydrosis since puberty. Its been so horrible and then I passed it down to my daughter and watching her suffer from it after my own experience is heart breaking. I finally found an amazing product thats inexpensive too. It does have aluminum in it though but ive never been able to use non aluminum deodorant/antiperspirant. I can smell fine without aluminum but sweat so much that its the covered in sweat that bothers me not the smell of myself. So I use Women Mitchum shower fresh gel and get a 2pack at Walmart for $5 or less so its awesome it so inexpensive and works. I hope that anyone who suffers from this knows they're not alone, I literally thought I was the only one who had this problem growing up so I was to scared to talk to anyone about it even family and doctor. It was so horrible. Good luck!
From someone who suffers from hyperhidrosis, thank you 🙏 if you ever need a non aluminum deodorant, I tried Schmidt's and Lume deodorant and they both work for me, but you still sweat though.

I've tried several natural/aluminum free deodorants and I've found what works for me is the Arm & Hammer Aluminum free deodorant paired with Dr. Teal's aluminum free deodorant. Dr. Teal's would work by itself, but it's too stiff/hard so I use the Arm & Hammer to help the Dr. Teal's deodorant spread and the two of them together is under $5.

I’ve been using Type A for the last 3-4 months and it took a long time for my body to adapt to it. Only now is it really giving me that full day coverage. I have the purple scent which is fine for me. Honestly, not sure if I would purchase again. I’m only still using it bc I have it and I don’t want to use something else until I finish. Definitely want to try Lone at some point too. Especially after all of your reviews! Thanks for sharing all of your thoughts Hallease!

1. I love water soluble formulas
2. I bought 3 tubes of lume during a sale. Then they mailed me three more by accident. I got to keep all of them....

Crystal made me smell so bad. Native was good until my armpits starting itching and burning. All of the natural deodorants did that except the brand I currently use. I never thought I would find a deodorant I wasn't allergic to or irritates my skin.
I found it random. I think it was God answering my prayers. I don't checks YT comments, so if anyone is interested. It's the gel deodorant by Green Goo. They need to pay or sponsor me. Only deodorant I will forever use.

The only natural deodorant that really works for me is Lone. I was experimenting until Native made me rash and burn so bad that I’m still recovering from it 4 weeks later 😩
3:51 i dont get how a DEODORANT can be unscented. I get how an ANTI PERSPERENT can be unscented but like... deodorants, by definition are supposed to *conceal* an unpleasant scent... how can smthg unscented do that?

Bindi J. Marc some natural deodorants stop the growth of odour causing bacteria so instead of just masking the smell it fixes the root cause without preventing you from sweating.
I'm currently using Schmidt's Rose + Black Pepper deodorant and I love it
I really love the Schmidt's scents, so I was disappointed to learn that I can't use deodorant with baking soda 😫
@@JasmyneGilbert The specific scent I use doesn't have baking soda in it! Look for the sensitive skin formulas. The Rose + Black pepper is a sensitive skin one.

I also like Arm & Hammer (scent: Fresh [Rosemary Lavender]). I’ve been using it for a couple of months, and it really works for me. I had previously tried Schmidt’s natural deodorant in rose + vanilla, and it did not work. The texture was rough and grainy, too.
I’m glad to see someone else on the natural deodorant journey.

Okay so thank you once again for doing this review after months of trial and comparison! You really should be paid for this. Especially because I now really want to try Lone!! It's not currently in my budget but I may check out Arm & Hammer so I can get away from the aluminium (right now i use mitchum)

Just found this video a year later… first off, you are beautiful! Second off, I’ve bought Native at Wal-Mart and it was like a running a brick under my arms. 😬 Goes with what you said about Native being different in store than online. Last thing - I appreciate you’re reviews! I am very particular about deodorant and I appreciated seeing the products on your hand because texture is big thing for me.

Lovvvveeeee Lone! From Memphis, TN, go to school in Barbados and I’m a sweater. I definitely had to get over sweating. I’ve used Arm & Hammer (it worked for a few months then I noticed it started to burn me) and I’ve used Crystal (didn’t work especially in warm environments plus I’m not a fan of reapplying)
Been trying to find a good deodorant to stop sisters B.O. saw 3 of your videos (lume, lone and this one). We already use arm and hammer, going to buy Lone & Crystal now. Thank you.

Great video! Recently, my boyfriend and I tried the Schmidt natural deodorant. We both got severe rashes. Based off of research I'm assuming it's because of the baking soda. But prior to Schmidt we both used Arm and Hammer, which also has baking soda but never got any adverse reaction to using it for years! So we switched back and have not experienced any rashes. I'm wondering why we have no reaction to one but do to another if baking soda is present in both deodorant ingredients....
I have the same problem especially during the winter, needs to wear 2 kinds of natural depdorant, I stay away from using other kinds that contain alluminum etc because we have a history of breast cancer. Of all that I have tried, Humble is the only one that works for me. It only has five ingredients too.

I've tried Native. I liked it but the texture was weird on my skin. Native can also be found in Walgreens as well as Walmart and others. I love the Arm and Hammer deoderant. I do have to reapply it midday.
Have you tried Type A? I get 48 hours out of it in 80F+ weather. I used it for 3 months and it was perfect (the closest thing I’ve used to conventional deodorant and I live in the tropics) then it suddenly started to destroy my pits (maybe the baking soda???) now I use it after specially moisturizing my underarms with a heavy moisturizer and it’s fine. Also please try MagSol which is Magnesium based (I think it works best on top of a heavy moisturizer) but I’d love to know what you think of it
Have you ever tried the solid crystal block that you have to get wet before applying? I also have hyperhydrosis and I've found that to be the best option for me! Of course you have to apply on clean pits, which can be kind of annoying, but I just try to apply after my shower and then I'm pretty fresh smelling for like 24 hours, it's amazing.
Lume works for me for quite a long time and yes I could often get 72 hours out of it. But for some reason it stopped working and now I can't even get a full day out of it.
Same thing happened to me. I'm hoping the tides will change back to the 72 hour days.
Since I have 7 tubes mailed to me by accident......... Lol
hi Hallease! question about these deodorants, do you know or have you noticed that any of these deodorants leave streaks/marks on your clothes? One of my biggest concerns is deodorants ruining my clothes
Hey! Great video! Could you possibly rank them on straight performance alone? I currently use arm and hammer. I have no problems with baking soda. Just wondering how it compares. Lone is your fav but what’s your second and third fav for performance. If for example arm and hammer is number 4 on your list behind crystal, then I would try crystal next before going to lone or lume.

How did the Crystal deodorant work for you? It did absolutely nothing for me I even detoxed a few times and till nothing I had it for a year now lol
@@shutit4024 I ended up not using it and going with Lume for a while. But then they changed their formula and it stopped working for me. So I'm on the hunt again 😓

Natove also has a Sensitive line of deodorant that is baking soda free. That is what I use and I love jt.
Kosas is the best brand because it contains an AHA that fights off odor-causing bacteria and it balances your pH.
Native worked the best for me until I got a rash. All of the natural deodorants I’ve tried said from the arm and hammer have given me rashes.
I've recently decided to go natural. I'm in the UK though and all options seem to be sticks. If any one has suggestions for deo spray options, please reply.

I use native in the lavender and rose native (which is that botanical lavender) and when I started using it I definitely had to reapply it occasionally.
"botanical lavender" that's a way better description than what I said 😅 "drug store synthetic lavender"
Lume actually does work for at least 48+ hours for me :o. But I don’t sweat much so I may just not be washing it away very quickly.
I’ve been trying out the Myro brand (bergamot and lavender scent). I really like this one. Wasn’t sure at first bc it’s moist going on which also drives me nuts but it worked well for me. I haven’t tried too many natural deodorants; only Native (I didn’t like that one either) and Oyin Handmade’s Funk Butter (black-owned business btw) so I don’t have much to compare Myro to so I’d be curious what you thought.

Ugh, I don't like Native either.
Unfortunately so far my son's Arm and & Hammer has been the best working one for me and I've tried a ton. No staining on my shirts and after a full day no smell. I'm sad because I loved Tom's powder fresh (the only powder fresh I found to smell good) but it has recycled aluminum. Native Jasmine and cedar smells great, but I don't after 2 hours. I don't even smell like normal body order, it's a weird gross sweet smell. I wish arm and Hammer had a better variety of scents since I don't love what they offer but it's $1.96 or less and works great for a very sweaty 10 year old boy and an active 32 year old women.
It work for me but I stop using it because it burn 🔥 me ☹☹
Does Lone deodorant have coconut oil? That’s my issue…coconut oil allergy. I use Arm & Hammer Essentials (aluminum, parabens, & phthalates free) trying Tom’s Wild Lavender (aluminum, parabens free… no baking soda) 🤷🏾♀️
I took the plunge and ordered Lone and will pick up Crystal when I go to town. I have been trying natural deodorant for nearly 5 years. I have yet to find one that doesn't fail if I have a panic attack.

The unscented crystal ones don't work I don't think it was in your head😭😭😭 I was looking for other alternatives since Native doesn't ship to France directly anymore and after a month of using the crystal unscented my appartement always smelled like a locker room (I applied in the morning and worked from home) I had to reapply tree times a day and it still only worked for like 15 seconds😩😩 The scented ones do a very very good job though but I feel like they are not shipping to France anymore either😣
I tried little seed farms, lavanilla (normal and sports edition), meow meow tweet.
None of them worked for me. I don’t mind “wetness” my goal is smell cover up which I can’t seem to find. Only primal pit paste worked for me but now they changed formulas. Any ideas out there?
Have you tried Arrid XX unsented. If so, how would you compare it to Arn and Hammer unsented.

I wouldn't recommend crystal, they say "No Aluminum Chlorohydrate" but they use potassium Alum which is potassium aluminium sulfate. they do use aluminium and even tho they are bigger molecules they are still absorbable ones.
the stink, the rashes, & the trauma that i endured on my aluminum free deodorant journey... i stunk for 2 yrs... 2 whole yrs... like a marijuana plant mixed with body odor... i started with native... then i tried lume... then i layered them... & then i tried literally anything else i could find in any store... got next to nowhere with any of it... once i got through all of the dove rashes & burning & smelling like fried onion strings, i finally, i guess, have fully detoxed & acclimated, & can now do dove 0% aluminum bar moisturizing deodorant as my base & then i immediately follow it up with dr teals aluminum free deodorant directly on top with the magnesium/baking soda, & that's now the ONLY way i can function & not stink... 🤷♀️

I currently use Dove Men+Care Deodorant, which is aluminum free as far as the ingredients say, but is Lone available in any stores? Also, has Mr Halease tried any of these deodorants to see if they work on men too???
He's tried Lone and Lume, Lone worked better. Unfortunately, I don't think Lone is in any stores. Online only...

I use Lume. It works
I dont like my under arm feeling wet. The Arm an Hammer unscented have a slight citrus smell. However it blows off after a while then you get that unscented. The fresh in Arm and hammer Is not bad. I prefer to use it at nights after my shower. Deodorants should never be used on dirty skin. Also not taking a shower and expecting a deodorant to work that is impossible.

I dont think the labelling is a big deal. Sometimes in order to use earth friendly or organic options the durability is compromised.

What I find even with the natural deodorant is that deodorants with Shea butter , coconut oil... it sticks to the pores. What I think is that those kind of deodorants clogs the pores. If you stink and are not getting that residue off. It’s like you are putting the good smelling , on top of the bad smelling and after a while you will stink. Give those pits a scrub... gentle though. I stopped using the ones that use Shea butter. Now that I allow my pores to breath, I don’t sweat nearly as much. Try it out. Sorry to say I thought I had hydrosis to. But this works so I don’t know if I diagnosed myself properly with that.
I like Tom's deodorant because it has no aluminum in it. I don't use the antiperspirant line....well....because of the aluminum content.

Schmidt’s Coconut pineapple
You’ll want to heal that first. Look into the baking soda free versions or sensitive versions of products. They contain less synthetics and are generally very good for the underarm area. Check out Routine- they have a handful of scents and the vegan one called cat lady has minimal baking soda and might work for you.. $5 minis can be bought and trialed.. at integrity Botanicals.com where you can also find Lone. Lone has a citrus that isn’t a cream and well loved.

The Lime gave me that smell too. I could not figure it out. I didn’t stink but it was weird. And that made me keep sniffing. 😫
That’s what happens with me with Toms. I never had underarm smell before and now.... eww! So I’m looking for something that doesn’t allow me to smell cause a girl can’t stand bad order

A&H naturals couldn’t keep me going all day my pits started to stink, schmidth's charcoal deodorant makes my pits smell like soaked starch by the end of the day. To me the best natural deodorant ever is the Lavilin cream deodorant, a tiny little pinch keeps your pits odor free for 7+ days continuously. Works even after showering 🚿 or excessive sweating 😓 goes away only if you scrub your pits but 🧼 soap is totally fine.
I am always a moist person..🤣🤣🤣. I think we from the same tribe.

I’m sorry but I hated the native deodorant! It didn’t help keep me stinky free and the coconut one stained my pits.
I was natural for 3 years and used Garners Garden but just recently got the Mira dry procedure for my hyperhydrosis and I highly reccomend
Native gave me bad burns
all oil based deos like native will stain the hell out of your clothes badly..i am going with arm and hammer it is a gel that doenst stain...i hestated between that and crystal roll on but chose the first it lasts longer and better overall also better value for money..stay away from oil based deos
