I live in NYC and if more good standing Citizens were to be allowed to carry conceal or publicly, crime would be knocked down to probably 85% if Criminals knew we could fight back, they would be job hunting or a lot more humble towards the good armed citizens. as a gun owner i would normally be against open carry of rifles and the so called assault weapons when there really is nothing going on. meaning its just a normal day going out to eat or shopping but since the right of open carry is not extended to hand guns this open carry practice makes sense. he even said in the interview people would not be carrying the long guns if they could carry pistols which makes way more sense

I’m pretty sure it’s federal law to do a background check for any firearm purchase. If something is sold privately without the proper paperwork done it’s an illegal sale. Sure people can easily get away with it but if the police find out, someone could be going to jail or heavily fined.
You also don't need a permit or training to exercise your 1st Amendment Rights. So why should the government force those for the 2A? I think it should be individuals responsibility to get training and learn the rules if safe gun handling and the local laws and practice common sense. I live in NYC and if more good standing Citizens were to be allowed to carry conceal or publicly, crime would be knocked down to probably 85% if Criminals knew we could fight back, they would be job hunting or a lot more humble towards the good armed citizens.

as a gun owner i would normally be against open carry of rifles and the so called assault weapons when there really is nothing going on. meaning its just a normal day going out to eat or shopping but since the right of open carry is not extended to hand guns this open carry practice makes sense. he even said in the interview people would not be carrying the long guns if they could carry pistols which makes way more sense

I’m pretty sure it’s federal law to do a background check for any firearm purchase. If something is sold privately without the proper paperwork done it’s an illegal sale. Sure people can easily get away with it but if the police find out, someone could be going to jail or heavily fined.
You also don't need a permit or training to exercise your 1st Amendment Rights. So why should the government force those for the 2A? I think it should be individuals responsibility to get training and learn the rules if safe gun handling and the local laws and practice common sense. I don't think our government should be criminalizing citizens doing nothing wrong with no ill will

For it to be considered an assault rifle it'd have to have a burst or automatic fire option, and no AR-15s sold today can do that due to the selling of new automatic weapons being banned. And I doubt any of these people had any actual assault rifles you can get your hands on due to them costing upwards of 25k because of the extremely limited supply (this is because all automatic weapons must have been registered before 1986 to be legal to own).
