First, that is a beautiful battlefield, and Second, CALvary is a place in the Bible. CAValry is when soldiers ride horsies into battle and such. Third, I was involved with this reenactment for a number of years, as a part of a mountain howitzers crew. If you can find minis of mountain howitzers, I suggest doing so. They are so much lighter than regular 12 pound Napoleon howitzer, yet the mountain howitzer can fire a 12 pound shrapnel or spherical case shot just a couple hundred yards less than the large howitzer. The trail arm can be picked up by one crewman and advance with a line of infantry to augment their volley fire with canister. Such a fun piece!
Awesome, yes, my spelling and pronunciation can sometimes be found lacking. It is awesome that you have taken part in reenactments. That is definitely on my bucket list. Yes, I would much rather push a mountain howitzer. After carrying a 60mm mortar tube and an 81 up a mountain, I was much happier with the 60. Thanks for commenting. Have a fantastic week
Brilliant mate - agreed that the battle had a really different feel to it - once you got to closer ranges and melee troops really started melting away. I will be interested in your thoughts on the Warlord epic stuff - I bought the French Waterloo epic starter box of 1000 troops and have painted about 280 so far - really enjoy them as a break from the 28mm stuff. I have even cut strips to put mounted commanders in the units so some conversion work can be quite easily done. Have a great Thanksgiving week.
Thanks for the F&F battle report ! If you get a 10 and it is the first time a unit is shooting during the game, that unit doesn't get low ammunition (page 57 from the Brigade F&F rulebook, should be the same rules in RF&F) Can't wait to know what do you think between BF&F, RF&F and WHLCS, pros and cons for those rules.
Thank you so much! I appreciate all the help I can get. I need to get a few more games under my belt and I will knock out that comparison video. Thank you for commenting! Have a fantastic week 👍
What a great game loved to see the thought that had to go in to maneuvering regiments. I have a box of ACW and AWI packed up for you email where to send them. To me Fire and Fury is one of the best linear warfare rule sets.
Superb , but slightly surprised by the high casualties given the number of time "fire" from some units was deemed as "desultory" (i.e. aimless, haphazard).
Desultory was kicking my butt for a while there, LOL. I was surprised by casualties, too. But with each stand of 4 guys being 100 guys, the bodies hit the floor quickly. Have a good one my friend
Was curious, like @Peanutbrain123, which you prefer? I was definitely more engrossed in watching this Regimental Fire and Fury play through vs the Hot Lead and Cold Steel version.
For your convenience I'm including my reply to Peanutbrain123... I to play another battle of With Hot Lead and Cold Steel before I make any conclusions. Right now, they both seem to satisfy a different type of "itch". Hot Lead and Cold Steel make you feel like a front-line commander down there with the troops dodging bullets and bayonet. While Fire and Fury provides that true C n C feel, sitting on top of a hill giving orders to your regimental Colonels. Still, I want to wait until after the battle of Rich Mountain. Have a great week, my friend 👍
So after playing both games how do you feel on fire and fury vs hot lead and cold steel? Both games looked fun so I’m curious what some pros and cons to each are!

@@basement1908 🤭I didn't realise a stand of 4 guys equalled 100 hundred, 🤕
