You know what's even worse? There are countries where you can't use VC at all. But you can still buy VC. Wtf!!?? That should be illegal!!
I think one thing that would improve the value is ditch the side plates and put more wrestlers cards in packs something like a pack gets you
1 random faction cosmetic (ditch the rarities from these)
3 random bronze wrestlers
3 random silver wrestlers
2 random gold wrestlers
1 wrestler that has the chance to be gold or higher and deluxe packs you could guarantee this would always be higher than gold
or
1 random faction cosmetic (ditch the rarities from these)
3 random bronze wrestlers
2 random silver wrestlers
2 random gold wrestlers
1 wrestler that has the chance to be emerald, sapphire or ruby (with guaranteed ruby in deluxe packs)
1 random wrestler of amethyst or higher (with improved odds in deluxe packs)
would make it feel more like a traditional TCG and more like im getting value for money/points
You could also add in that for a steepish but reasonable cost the option to convert a card to a persona card or expand on the evolution cards that once you full evolve it the card becomes a persona card
I have had Surfshark for almost 2 years now. It's great. Great video as always. One question , when will they release the arena for Wrestlemania 40 ? I do have the 40 years of wrestlemania pack and everything else available. Also I never have played my faction. I just don't like the mode. I also have NBA 2k as well. But don't do my team. Same issues.
I wonder, Mr. L.A. Knight in 10 years, have you ever played _WWE SuperCard_ ? It is like 99% card collecting and battling, and while there is some stuff in there that can make it feel P2W, I’ve never felt the need to spend 1¢ in it since playing from day 1, nearly a full decade ago, on August 14, 2014.
here's an idea that (IMO) would be super-hilarious if you decide to do it= y'know how you've done those skits playing both the booker and the guy in charge of storylines within WWE Central in Connecticut? how about something similar but at either Visual Concepts HQ or 2K Games Studios, with a consumer-sensible programmer and a "shareholders-pleasing" main director discussing these subjects, with the director making excuses like: "well, the players can always grind it out guaranteeing that they'll always be playing our game... or they can hook up their credit card and voila; they get what they want, our shareholders' pockets grow and everybody's happy! win-win, am I right"... something like that! how about it Matt; good enough for a skit?

My faction is going to be the slow death of the series. Each year it gets worse and worse just like MUT. When it's time to make gameplay improvements, they'll ignore them and put more development time and energy into my faction. I've been down this road before. If fans want to keep the overall quality of the wwe 2k games high DO NOT SPEND A DIME IN MYFACTION!

Yeah I agree. I personally love playing franchise modes for sports. Also I miss the days of being able to pick a superstar and play a regular season mode like the older games.

I thought the persona cards were going to be purchasable from the card market. I don’t play my faction but I pop in to check the market for persona cards every now and then and I’ve never seen one available
Bought the 40 years of wrestlemania edition all that shot should be included fuck 2k and the horse they ride in on.
The worst part to me is that they made these persona cards seem like they would be obtainable, even if you had to grind a little and they made it seem like they would be more frequent. 2-4% is crazy and it’s even crazier that they’ve had under 10 total personas..

I refuse to play this mode out of principle.....2k is a business, I get it, they want money....but this is the type of stuff I hate in my games.....il just get them from STATUS

Back in 2005/2006 one used to play SvR 2006 and there were no freakin' DLC, no options to buy VC with your real money, just a base game with fun gameplay, lots of unlockables in the game and lots of great modes. This game sold well and was loved and played by tons of people.

I just wish there was a way to get the stuff without playing myfaction. Make it DLC, make it a pre order bonus, do SOMETHING else. I don't mind unlocking things with vc or showcase. But this is too much, the mode sucks and these aren't available forever once the servers are gone.
Meanwhile, i can any other game and have the full roster 10-20 years after they came out. Content should not be locked behind online exclusives!

@CooCooCallum I have no problem grinding for the card. I have saved almost all my MFP from the beginning of the year i have 300k. Ended up pulling Sami and KO out of a 10 box got lucky. At least make the Sami requirement In the card market for 150K MFP or something
@CooCooCallum If a live event requires a card you should be able to grind MFP and purchase that said card. I shouldn't have to grind MFP and just be only able to pull him in packs with a 2% chance

Sad thing is I'll never unlock every character in the game as the persona cards are pretty much stuck behind a pay wall.
I play my faction no money spent. Its cool cause its giving me a reason to log in and play a lil each day but the packs and rewards suck.

Same reason Lego went from Blind Bags to the Boxes... Money for people buying more packs to get what they want. I also hate that they show off that you're missing unlockables from MyFaction, so feels like I have an incomplete experience when I bought the "best" (i.e. Most Expensive) version of the game.

I tried to be optimistic about myfaction this year...that was my first mistake. The greed of this mode has gotten worse DESPITE adding persona cards. Theyre forcing people to spend more money to unlock what are just alternate attires of characters already in the game. Other than the Sheamus they give you, there isn't that much different as it is.
@Assemble You mentioned the gambling problems, well look how they're doing the plan here.. They're having those Persona cards in Live Events! You either get them now or else, we don't know when and if they're coming back again. Of course some players would want to play anything in front of them. And the other issue I mentioned and I don't know if this is on PC only, but since the new update happened, it's nearly impossible to beat those new challenges with them increasing the CPU difficulty on top of the requirements.
DLC profit ain't enough for 2k.

Thank you for covering this! It blows my mind that people spend this kind of money on virtual cards when in less than a year this game will become almost irrelevant when 2k25 comes out. And then they’ll do it all again. Microtransactions suck!
For hulk hogan at least what on earth kept them from just making it a really hard boss match where you play whoever you want against hogan. Then unlocking figure hogan would feel so much more rewarding

As for unlocking stuff, I paid for the Mania edition. Why do I need to spend even more money to unlock new models? New Models I may not even get by spending that money.

They drew me in with Wyatt and Punk. Another year , I ended up buying a WWE game and another year of frustration. (3 years of create mode kicking me to my dashboard glitch).

I opened MyFaction for probably the first time yesterday with the sole purpose of trying to get the Roman alt attire, only to quickly find out I can't even get it if I wanted to because I need some other card that I can't unlock without also paying for packs.
Safe to say I won't be opening MyFaction again
This is exactly why I never played my faction. Tried it for the first time, this year. It's a hard no for me dog. LOL! My play time is limited. I'm not wasting it on my faction. 2K should be ashamed. You really don't care about achievements don't you because im my case i play it for the platinum not because it good and also online sucks ass the servers are bad and also the community who plays the ranked mode are swats

Persona cards are cool in concept but kinda bad in execution. Most of them are too difficult or expensive to unlock, you can't edit the attire of the models at all (so I couldn't put the retro Sheamus for example in his WWE 2K15 gear), and the Sheamus one still as far as I know doesn't have the wrist tape in his entrance
Whatsthestatus created a better "Final Boss" Rock than 2K did. Period.
They will find a reason to ban him again he's cutting into the greedy bastards pockets!!
I almost fell to spend for the Hogan persona (considering it have 84 instead of 74 and it's ruby instead of smerald) ok it was an exclusive in the US and this make him more "rare" but then you realize is not worth. It's fun to have superstar in their Elite figure version, i hope they will make more but not in this way. A DLC with the persona/Elite will be totally worth but i don't think they gonna make it. The Punches and Promos program is the biggest slap in the face 2k has given us yet. A 2% chance to pull the card needed to get Roman is absurd, especially considering every pack before this had a way higher chance at getting a ruby and this pack has like a 4% for a ruby. I’m not even going to consider getting these persona cards with those absurd odds
I mentioned this in the last video. A BIG point I wanted to get across, and you should bring up. In the new promos pack, there is only FOUR real diferent color wrestlers in the pack. The rest besides Superstar series, is MyGM jobbers with Sapphire, Emerald and Ruby cards. WTF?

One thing you hit on that alot of creators are not is how ridiculously priced the individual cards on the market are! 60,000 for the WrestleMania cody, but they also want people to pull for cards but however you only get at max 400 MFP per match, this year completely killed my faction for me didnt really play the last few years (only for trophies) when they announced persona i was willing ti give it a chance again, an with how theyve handled it im back where i started on Myfaction and honestly dont care about personas if they gonna cost up to $400 to pull
Making you use lowest tier cards against the highest tier is fkd up. With the broken mechanics and balance, you never win.

After that difficulty I should get the card I fought. Period. Not a pack with a bronze and silver or at best maybe a ruby... Or 500 mfp... Or 10 shields... Like wtf?
I went on yesterday, saw the Roman persona was in the live event and I needed the Sami card, found the Sami card but had no idea how to unlock it, you should be able to click the cards and it tells you how you get it, whether that's by opening packs, on the card market, live events, etc
There is another issue no one is talking about. What about the new players people who just got the game. If they miss the live event for the persona cards they just miss out completely
The main problem is 2k is using the wwe SuperCard payment system even though some of us bought the game at 100+ already
i just accepted that I'm not going to get any of the persona cards outside of the cena, cody, and Sheamus because I have never been into Myfaction and really don't want to do a punch of crap just to not be able to get the new persona cards easily

I play MyFaction just to collect the free Live Event/Weekly Towers cards.
I refuse to spend a penny on it. Which mode should I replace MyFaction with? The grind is becoming tedious. I was thinking of giving Universe - "Superstar Mode" a try.

True, this year i thought MyFaction will bring in updated attires, models with the introduction of Persona cards but so far ive only seen Sheamus, 1000days Reigns and the new Rock. Very underwhelming.
You can tell just how greedy 2k is by the prices of their content. It is absolutely rediculous, a pack is 5 bucks each for a deluxe one and the drop rate is absolutely horrible. They have ppl that work at the company that make millions of dollars per year, and they need more greedy a holes

What makes it worse is if the games servers shut down in the future, if you don’t have these cards, they’re basically locked away forever once the servers are gone.
It's a shame because the game is actually pretty solid, but everything surrounding my faction and the ban of CC creators like Status was just unnecessary

At this point, I refuse to spend real money on my fashion cards because I refused to spend real money and open up the same crappy packs, because then I'm going to be in a bad mood. At this point just by playing the mode a little bit every day or every other day, in events, I can save up enough currency to open a pack every 2 weeks.
Now that it's getting to a point where I'm just honestly not good enough at the game to win as many events, and naturally acquire the necessary cards, I'm completely losing interest in the mode.
2k did the exact opposite of what I thought they were going to do with my faction I said last year ,that they could just give us the attires after doing number of matches.
Yup . It’s baffling really, because people like myself who completely ignored my faction previous years were actually willing to give it a shot this year. I can say I will not even touch this mode now. Absolute, greedy joke.

The idea of the Persona cards is actually a good idea. But the way 2K is going about it is a joke! The silly thing is ....these cards would keep the game fresh and keep people coming back and actually extend the games life. I'd love a Retro Kane in the Persona cards or to be able to unlock the "Demon" Finn Balor that's there. The cards/pack prices are ridiculous and that puts me off trying. Also in the live events I hate having to do the same match 4-5 times to get the proper reward. It's just not fun. The grind just isn't fun and is actually alienating the fan base further.
My thing so far is that they're putting in some persona cards that are just..not needed, IMO. Like a 4th Roman with a new hairstyle? Honestly, who cares lol. If you need that, DL it from CC. This new Rock? It's completely silly. Trick Williams gets a persona card when he's only been there like 2 years? Yet, no masked Kane? Big Poppa Pump? Goddess version of Bliss? Even something really cool and out there like a 1992 Summerslam version of Ultimate Warrior. There's so many other things they could be doing, but instead they're like "Here's a 3rd Rock for you"...or "here's a 4th Roman for you"..just don't need it.

The min they started putting all the jobbers in the packs from GM mode and Career Mode I knew it was over. I don't think 2k realise that if they make it easier to get cards in packs people are gonna buy more, because there's more of a chance. It should be illegal what they are doing. It's disgusting. People need to boycott this mode for there to be a change.

Great coverage, this year is my first year playing my faction and Gm mode and I am enjoying them. You make a lot of valid points, me personally I just play and grind because I had no intention ever to spend extra money on a WWE game unless it’s for a DLC. Now that I heard this Na Na, I won’t even consider buying anything related to my faction.
Admittedly not a MyFaction person but it sounds like you want it tightened up and less grindy like MLB The Show, you want more reward drops as incentive to keep playing and an option to outright buy the characters/cards.
I get they probably started on that Rock ASAP but it would be nice if they patched in newer music and intro/outro movements when possible the offered a more detailed Mania Rock the special music and outfits.
I want the shield stuff but I don't feel like wasting all that time. I am not even sure what you need for it.

Those Sapphire vs Diamond cards of the current Live Events are almost impossible, and very very frustrating.
I grind it out i think 2K Should give us match type packs arenas packs weapons pack and yes more Legends and persona cards that it I'll be happy patch in the draft in universe mode if 2K can do that then they will get my 💰
Persona cards are cool and all but it they don't have new music and stuff, they should just be an attire instead of a new character
I just started playing My Faction for the trophies. My biggest issue with these type of modes to what you’re saying, even if I spend money, it doesn’t really increase the odds. Sure, I get more packs so technically it does but the packs still each have a 2% chance of pulling a specific card
MyFaction is still the worst mode. It only exists to make you pay $400 for something you'd get for like $2 - $5 back then. If my faction is going to stay, 2k need to put the persona cards as on optional buy from the store (not the myfaction store, Steam, xbox, PS store)
This is the exact same for NBA 2K MyTeam. You’re unable to play with the players you want unless: you gamble a lot of money opening packs for a slim chance you’ll get the card you actually wanted

Great video Matt, I am a MyFaction fan (since day-oneish), and what concerns me is the duplicate value for punches and promos, as everything gets a duplicate value of 750MFP. However from previous packs Rubys were in excess of 10,000MFP, so this really helped with the grind. There is also an Umaga Amethyst card as well which I need an Emerald Undertaker to complete, but it does look like it will hit the card market this weekend, so I may have grinded enough by then to purchase the last remaining requirement for the Umaga card. I used to be a Universe fan but I hate the Rivalry actions, especially when it comes to PLEs. We should have actions for start a new rivalry (i.e. steal championship) rather than just increase ranking up the tables.
Hey matt nba2k24 started this whole things with the prices. A youtuber by the name of troydan spent $10k on packs for myteam and didnt even get the cards he wanted. He quit the mode and moved on to uploading mlb the show now.

I’ve seen how much money a few people have spent on VC and time spent grinding and there’s no way I’m doing any of that for a tattoo and a tank top or a man bun and a tracksuit. Makes sense now why they wanted to start banning big creators from being able to release all these hidden models and characters.
The only way to rack up my faction points is to play in the 3 vs. 3 or 4 vs. 4 tag matches and complete on the list which would give you 105 mfps plus more if you have no body damage and then some for the daily challenges but it'll take a least 1 day of playing just to get a 20 pack

I didnt hear you mention it, but one weird thing is if you go to a single deluxe P&P pack, it has better odds for those cards but if you go to the deluxe 10 or 20 pack, its lower like the standard pack. Seems odd

Matt, I find the prices for the cards individually and packs WAY more expensive compared to last years i am not happy that they have not put any as yet persona cards on the individual cards to buy at all it is a scam i get that 2k wants to make money but to out price nearly everybody everywhere with ridiculous prices both points wise and purchase wise is a joke to the fans all 2k wants is money they should as well as any other companies property be given some sort of a fine for promoting gambling and giving the impression that it is ok to gamble even at a young age they should have on the back of the box and or in the game screens saying we do not promote the idea of gambling or some sort of warning
I've also heard that the new Rock and Roman persona cards can't be edited. So they're stuck in sweatpants during their matches.
Great video. In the beginning I put in some time but the way it’s moved now I just don’t have it in me. If I could just buy the persona cards, I’d do that.
To be fair, the reason they say ‘free vc’ is to show you how much you are saving by going up a tier. Its their versin of ‘x% off’

100% agree with you. Also the prices of the card market are way too high. I agree with the new pack cards not being in there. But take the sapphire Cody WM40 card still being 65k mfp or $20VC is crazy. I was excited for the card market as a way to get a specific card I didn't have the luck to pull. Let me diversify my superstars or get my favorites like Mankind or Jake the snake. With the prices being so high it's not worth spending that much for a card that isn't very useful.
The worst part about how these card modes have infested every sports game for years is that a new game is out the next year.
You can spend money and hundreds of hours grinding to collect cards and rewards and have to do it again the next year. It’s just an endless chase targeting people’s compulsions to collect.
