- This is our WWE 2K24 Review and Impressions. Going through what's new in the game, thoughts on Showcase and the returning modes this year, what's fixed what we liked didn't like (so far) now that I've had time with the game.

This is my initial review/impressions of WWE 2K24 after spending a week with the game. Playing all of the modes and experiencing a lot of what the game has to offer. I am Part of the WWE 2k NextMaker Program, but my opinions are my own.
Let me know your thoughts on 2k24, the good and the bad.
One note: I did not mention myrise I have a separate myrise series on the channel

Universe Mode with a lot of issues. All my Settings don’t work for Rivalry Matches. Ramp Camera, Pin Mini Game, etc…it just doesn’t work if the match is set as rivalry. It’s just default. Thats a big minus for me
Same issue still have for ps4 and ps5
2k25 needs voiceover and promos in universal mode and KOTH ring and QOTR Tournament in the mode to and bring back design story mode to also the greatest royal rumble match 50 superstar

It's better than last years for sure, It's worth it. So many features & match types added, MyRise tremendously improved, MyGM with more options etc.. My complains is that the showcase did not live up to the hype & lack of focus in universe mode. But overall it's a great game imo.

All of that is irrelevant unless universe mode is overhauled to perfection. This is why they should have combined gm and universe

"Minor" stuff I particularly enjoy :
- Irish whip reversals actually being irish whip reversals instead of regular reversal.
- strike exchanges
Those two things already make the gameplay more enjoyable and fun.
But the best thing in my opinion is the new "tag team" debuff, limiting pin breakout. No more tag-team match being 20 minutes because illegal CPU doesn't want to stay down.
Also being able to irish whip while enemy is kneeling position and new rope animations being able to run anywhere in the ring instead of just straight
100% worth it!!! Just wish there wasn’t that many objectives in Showcase mode this year since it was the 40 years of Wrestlemania.
I understand but if it was any year other than 40 years then they would have less objective, cuz I feel like that one of the main reason they had in mine

Yeah there was one match with 16 objectives on it. Can’t remember which match.
I like how the lights flicker during finishers... a very minor update elevates the viewing experience.. and the new camera system makes me wanna go back to no mercy
Now I'm just waiting for them to revamp the audio presentation to make it be like how the NBA series is with presets like TV broadcast.

No mercy has aged badly!!!!! Is quite funny, but still nostalgic lol
I'm thankful i grew up when Nintendo first came out and got to play the Very 1st WWF WRESTLEMANIA game .. The only complaints i have about games today is having to pay extra for Digital Shirts , shoes , Wrestler's etc etc... We had codes we use to put in to get these things.. Watch the evolution of Wrestling video games and be thankful 😎👍
Soundtrck really grew on me last night minus the pigs song i really like it now haha
I said this on the subreddit but as a big Tyler Childers fan I’m glad he’s on the soundtrack of something as big as a 2k game
I tried listening to the soundtrack without the game ahead of time. Couldn’t get into it. But in the menus where you’re doing shit for a few minutes, it goes well with the overall aesthetic. There was one song I was like OH GOD this is too busy 😂 but a majority seems decent.
Nah it’s trash, i mean not the woorst in history but definitely a HUGE downgrade from last year’s…

Something that i found amazing, even though it was a small detail, is that you can tag to your partner while running and instead of the Wrestler just tagging the partner normally, he runs straight to the corner and tags, kinda like he wants to tag his partner in as fast as possible.
I think 2k14 has a much better wrestleMania showcase than 2k24 will ever have
With about 6 months it will be below $50. They need to go back to skipping 1 year for this game.
I still wonder why they left some things out. DX Theme, 92 Undertaker, 95 Undertaker, 98 Kane and so on. But I like this game
Probably a bunch of them will be MyFaction persona cards.
I know I don't have the game, but I kind of like how they keep the PLE events on Sundays. It's like the old days when Sundays always had PPV events. It's kind of a classic touch.

I am so tired of them putting universe mode on the back burner. They need to make universe mode the main focus next year! Or take an extra year off and also make universe mode the focus. It’s our season mode!

I’m not a fan of online, but having an online universe mode or a universe today like NBA Today. It would be a game killer. Have it run adjacent to realtime schedules and give players the option to play in many roles such as ref, wrestler, or even a spectator in the seats. Maybe it’s a reach but if they get innovative enough, they could truly restore this mode and add replay value for years.

I play Universe mode mainly and until they make changes like adding promos and story mode i am gonna stay with 2k22

Best part is the little things like being able to irish whip someone while they are kneeling position adds more dynamic to the game
I mean it’s good, it’s not THAT much of an upgrade but it’s an upgrade. Honestly, if next year’s game doesn’t improvement universe mode then it’s just another roster update
Yeah for 25 they need to revamp Showcase and Universe mode for sure. Just give us Story Creator for Universe Mode! Everything else about the mode is great, all we need is a way to make stories and cutscenes and Universe mode will be perfect.
@@Wasechubby Honestly, Story creator would be a godly addition. Give us a good amount of unique animations, let us do custom text for promos and im hooked.

Feels like an updated iPhone. A few good upgrades, but not enough for me to get it. Waiting a few years seems to be a better route to take to actually see a big change. 2k25-26 would probably be a better choice from 2k23.
Roster update. While making past stars DLC who have only been gone for 2 years. Yet Cena is in every game still. Okay lol
I wish they would’ve put more WCW and WWF/WWE legends and not the same ones every years. I’ll love to see wrestlers like Billy Kidman, Juventud Guerrera, Al Snow, Bradshaw, Steven Richards, Steve Blackman, Dean Malenko, Funaki, Raven etc
Can we just all collectively appreciate that they put effort into the voice acting?
It's stil farrrrr off from industry standard, but for a sports game? Especially a 2K game? And even more especially a 2K WWE game, it's not bad. granted it's a low bar. But they have exceeded the bar.

they need more online options, if they could make wwe like how nba is that would be so sweet having a open world backstage being able to play with your friends and having different options like talking too superstars, upgrading gear etc it could be so good i feel like lately wwe been holding back insanely

40 years of wrestle mania is an L, 30 years was incredible! They really dropped the ball with this tbh
Haven’t played a wwe game since 2k17 and lemme say,this game is so much fun. Even better with friends or family. My rise mode was very much fun and cool. Only downside for me is the showcase having way to many spots to do. But other than that I highly recommend this game if your into wwe
Definitely agree on the takes. Online play is my biggest gripe, and I still wish an online universe of GM could be done, but otherwise it's what'd you want from a WWE game for sure
I can't understand tho why we have to keep unlocking in the same characters each year.
If you only play Universe like me, I wouldn't get it right now. Wait till it's on sale. And keep enjoying 2k23 until then. Enjoy the wrestlers that didn't make it to this edition. Like Brock Lesnar and Goldberg.

its not talked about too much but the fact that each brand (Raw, NXT and Smackdown) each have their unique announcers plus different announcers for PLE's just adds so much to the game.
Please 2k resize the older titles. I would also want a new stunner animation. Rock sell style.
Showcase would be nice to go back to the 2k15 style also
The selling in the game could be much, MUCH more exaggerated when it comes to certain moves (ex. Stone Cold Stunner).

Little bit disappoint with 40 year of WrestleMania
I love the return of the classic camera angle, because some of these arenas deserve to be seen while playing. I also like the option to switch between the camera angles, and the weapons are really fun to use. My gripe is having to play MyRise in order to unlock the same arenas from the last 2 games.
Last ride and buried alive would be nice as well

2K22 was solid. 2k23 was alright. 2k24 is looking to be great

I really hate 2k showcase it’s not fun feels like a chore but I really want to play with the WM arenas and the superstars
I am having a blast with 2K24! I got burned by 2K18 (HORRIBLE), so I skipped 2K19-22. I picked up the deluxe edition of 2K23 last October for $40 during a PSN sale, and was impressed. The 40 Years of WrestleMania hype convinced me to pre-order the 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition. Unfortunately, the showcase mode doesn't live up to the hype. Too many objectives! However, I'll grind through it for the sake of completion. Smackdown is live in my area tonight (Dallas). Instead of buying a ticket, I decided to invest in WWE 2K24. I feel the game is a much better value. I'll happily watch Smackdown on TV for free. 😁 Happy gaming to all!
To be fair, you would’ve spent much more on smack down tickets since the rock and Roman plus Cody and Seth were all there. I was planning on going but went to San Antonio’s raw instead. I went back and checked ticket prices out of curiosity and they were insane. Like $200 for nosebleeds insane.
@@raybohall2135 Just for grins, like you, I checked StubHub on the day of Smackdown and was shocked by the ticket prices. Last Friday's Smackdown was underwhelming. 4 meaningless matches and a bunch of interview spots. I would have felt ripped off, if I had bought tickets to that show.
As a person who's dedicated to Universe Mode, this year right here was a spit in the face to me. I finally gave up high hopes for improvements in Universe Mode like 5 years ago and just accepted the barely little improvements that was made about every year but this was the first WWE game since the debut of the mode where I think I prefer just doing exhibition and online game play. Like really, Almost nothing improved or added? Nope I give up.
2k NEEDS TO FIX THR BUGS THATS IN MYRISE MODE WHERE RING ANNOUNCER KEEPS ANNOUNCING OVER AND OVER AND CURRENTLY THE GAME CRASHES WHEN PLAYING THE TRISH STATUS MATCH. Honestly we had the Wrestlemaina showcase back in 2k14 I guess they couldn't figure out who to make Showcase from
They could've done the likes of Hbk, the rock, hulk hogan, HHH, undertaker or any that were at the top of the card for an extended amount of time
This has been the first wrestling game since Smack Down vs Raw 2006. Let me say this I am not disappointed so much nostalgia. I am not too sure if it there was a lot of changes from 2k23 to 2k24 but for me jumping from back then to now the game is so sick 🔥

On a more serious note, I'm really looking forward to playing this...in like 4 to 6 months after (hopefully) they fix whatever issues there are, the mod community grows and a few DLC's drop. Been burned too many times to dev's to give them my money either before the game is released or within the first month or so. More power to those that still do and I'm not putting down anyone that does that, it your money and your choice.
I just hope they can fix the refresh rate issue I (and others) experienced in 2k23 where anything above 60 has the "slow down/speed up" effect. Sucks having to change the refresh back and forth just for the one game, but hey, it's not the end of the world. Keep up the great content, my dude!

They also mix up the belts in the universe mode..for example- if you set a wwe heavyweight championship match, it automatically becomes United States championship match..

And it's fine, it's a very "incremental" upgrade over last year.
This is the last time they can get away with not touching universe mode, though.
They're extremely aware of how much the community loves that mode- it's the true main attraction of the game for most players.
They need to give it more depth if they want to keep players investing in this series.
What's the point and appeal to universe mode? It's boring as hell with zero objectives/stakes. It's literally just glorified exhibition mode with excel sheet.
At least gm mode has a goal which makes it fun coz you have to strategize to win the mode
@@hotcoldman77 To each their own. I wanna be able to fantasy book. With GM Mode, I have limitations in terms of wrestling styles, stamina, contracts, etc.
With Universe, I get to have a clean sheet to book whatever I want. Add story creator and Promos to it, and it is the perfect mode.
They honestly should merge gm mode and universe mode. If they did that with all the advances of blood, mechanics, and presentation, it would be a successor of wwf no mercy

the universe mode is the worst because we need momentum cost and the rivalry actions depend on the intensity of the rivalry unlike 2k23 where we can add any rivalry actions without momentum cost
The camera cuts to the diving moves in the ring are f'n annoying. THAT was one little thing that did not need to be changed or tweaked. Keep the damn camera still. Goddamn 2K.
The biggest pop I had so far was a random fan yelling You Suck to Roman during his entrance. Ir felt like a real drunk fan. I'm hard on 2K because honestly unfortunately we need to be but I like giving them props too. The gameplay is smooth af, entrance lighting is better for some than videos pre launch indicated ( spot lights aren't randomly going into the ceiling atleast

2kgames soundtracks can't please everyone. This is why it would be nice if we could use custom soundtracks
@@iamtamashii4184 I like that you can at least edit the soundtrack within the game. I mostly use my favourite entrance themes and keep only the songs I like from the soundtrack.

Love the gauntlet eliminator match. Reminds me of lucha underground/mlw versions of a battle royal which are fun
I wish that they had Goldberg and Edge and the hardy brothers for sure.

An annoying problem I’m having is custom entrances. Pyro continues to mess up and I’ve had a couple crashes. Other than that I’m enjoying the game
It's a nice step up from last year's game, better roster, better DLC lineup, the my faction unlocked content playable in other game modes it's one of the best changes made this year, and there's definitely more attention to detail in every aspect: weapons use, blood, new match types, but, I still think some modes need a change like "My rise", an interesting concept, every year badly executed. I think it worths the purchase.

Will you be making a video doing settings for Universe Mode , Match Table and etc ? Especially for regular gameplay settings. The matches I set up are fuego but no one is selling moves and it’s annoying 😂

I agree with just abour everything you said. They added a lot of little things, but honestly the little things matter. Game has been great so far. I do wish Universe mode had a little more tho. Fun still, but was hoping for more.

Young Rock looks soooo weird in this game, and why do they keep having Stone Cold Steve Austin’s beard so full when it was always thin and transparent.

I don't mind the new gameplay style in these 2K games but I would love if they went old school. Make the gameplay fast, fun and arcadey at least like SVR - SVR 07.
Could care less about WM mode, career mode and universe mode. Only mode I ever loved was GM mode and I wish they'd make it like the SVR games again.

This is my first wrestling game in like 10 years so I think it’s awesome. I don’t really have a basis of comparison to previous years.
So they actually switched undertakers animation to his standard animation for casket matches
I personally have few complaints that are actually relevant to me. My biggest gripe being them taking out arenas that were in the game previously. Like they took out 3 wrestlemania arenas. It shouldve been left in. And the reusing of models. But tbh its worth it for me
Just did a tournament match, 20 women submission only and the referee broke!!!! he stood there doing nothing and ignoring all the submissions halfway in the match and ruined it. I tried punching the ref in the face and everything but he was just a statue you can only push around. I think when i Eliminated Charlotte Flair, the Ref Broke
Honestly this 2k definitely is an improvement and as far as submission that’s definitely they need to fix because it’s ridiculous.
2K24 is pretty fun in my opinion. I’ve been enjoying MyRise so far and the 2K Showcase is alright but I really hate the slingshot tech. New match types like Special Guest Referee, Caskst and Ambulance is extremely fun. Finally the new features like throwing weapons and trading blows are a nice addition to the game

It's fun. The deep roster is great for sure including the different era's for some of the superstars like Rock and Hogan.

I feel like Universe mode has been the same since its creation if we can do promos and keep track of the win loss history in universe mode would give majority of players a breath of fresh air Gm mode will improve as years to come but it will never touch SVR unless they take Svr Gm mode copy and paste.
Honestly, Universe Mode from SvR 2011 is still the best version of it imo. You got a good amount of cutscenes, the AI booking was fun and the gameplay was fun too.
Its the best wrestling game in many many years. The pace is so good this time. It’s on point. Love it so far, my favorite mode is MyFaction.
The 40 Years of WM mode leave a lot to be desired but overall the game is good. Solid 8/10. The inclusion of legends like George Steele and Billy Graham is awesome! I hope more legends get their due next year.
I’m loving the game so far and determined to try every (offline) mode as mainly played Universe mode and exhibition in 2K23. I’ve even sampled MyFaction, still don’t particularly like it though. Looking forward to MyRise and GM mode.
I really hope they do an attitude era narrative mode. Can sanitize it how it is needed to be. But you could have a tag team focus or hardcore belt focus or greatest PPVs. Maybe even a Then vs Now type thing with TLC, money in the bank, steel cage, Hell in a cell, etc. So many great PPVs that they could relive to highlight the different match types while letting people relive/experience classic matches.
Showcase (this one in particular) would've been better if they had the stars involved (where available) interviewed to give highlights on the matches, not Cory Graves talking over it almost throughout (not a fan of his).
They did both, only halfway through but hogan and angle are in the intro vids
@campbelljacable yeah, but I guess I mean, them in particular giving the recaps. Graves introducing it would've been fine. But give the focus to the men and women involved when they hit those points where the commentary came in.
@VarianNash think it would've probably been too difficult to implement, half the wrestlers have passed away (savage, andre, warrior, bray, eddie, scott hall, rick rude) and the other half are that successful outside of wrestling that it'd cost an arm and a leg to get an extended amount of their time (cena, rock, ronda, austin). that's before you even get into the minefield that is the brock and vince situation.
One Bug in Universe I realised is when you have a created Arena in your Show you can‘t change your Match tables .. so sad ..
Hard to say. It's worth it if u loved 23 . But it stil isn't a step up. Many things Like crowd commentary presntation feels lackluster everything feels starile and behind other sport games. Decade behind in many aspects

Definitely worth it, I will say besides the sliders & additional change in UM, I think the game is fine. New match types, which we all asked for & should've expected since we only got one last year. Things like the calender for me is small only because at the end of the day it's still the weekend so I don't mind. I mostly play Universe but I rarely saw anyone beg for huge improvements this past year so I assume that's where the new matches come in. Showcase, 21 matches seems rough but people complain over the cutscenes & "skipping" it sonmaybe 40 matches really wasn't necessary
I was watching videos before buying the game and i must say the game feels alot better than 2k23
It's overall a fantastic game, More features, Old features being added, Match types, MyGM & MyRise. My only nitpick here is the showcase mode did not live up to the hype. But overall it's a great one.
Haven’t played the game yet. Looking forward to checking it out. Without even playing it, what I wish they would release a new game every other year, and maybe roster/arena updates or even dlc every year in between. Maybe if they have a year and half to put the game together there will be enough good quality content to last us for 2 years
In 2k23 I made a funny al jolson blackface character. You could see it was just a white guy wearing paint with his lip area showing, and he was dressed in old timey minstrel show clothes, and his moveset was some hip smooth funk
Completing showcase mode this year was more annoying than fun.

Im thinking of buying this game but don’t know too much about todays wrestlers, mostly interested in older superstars from attitude era or ruthless aggression or any ECW guys.
I think this looks good enough that I'll definitely buy it at some point but I'm going to wait till there's a decent sale. I had 2K22 and was planning on totally skipping 23 since there wasn't really too much of a difference other than a roster update. But a couple of months ago or so when I booted up 22 I was greeted with an offer to get 23 for like 11 bucks
So here's hoping maybe something like that will pop up again for this one 😂
I do wish they would pay some more attention to universe mode. It seems like it's mostly an afterthought these days and that sucks because I like having that wrestling sandbox. But all they've really done lately is remove a lot of features from it. I like having some context around playing matches rather than just picking a couple of wrestlers in exhibition mode. Plus it tends to usually make me start experimenting with a lot of characters that I wouldn't normally play as. You can only have so many people front and center and I like to save the mega stars I grew up watching for big storylines and pay-per-views. Sorry, premium live events 😅
I hope this is the last one that's cross-gen overall. These games could look so much better on modern hardware right now but since they have to also be playable on something like the base Xbox One I think it really holds it back overall.

This is my first WWE2K game since 2K16 and I have to admit I'm loving what I've played so far.
"My faction" is okay...not sure I'll stick with it unless they add more "persona" cards to unlock but I'm really enjoying showcase mode.
Keep your games on your hard drive or you will not get them to reload if digital copies as everything before wwe2k22 is no longer listed on xbox store😅
As someone who hasn’t played a wrestling game since here comes the pain and stopped watching wrestling shortly after the attitude era ended I’m really happy with it. Showcase is fun enough and rewards you with some good wrestlers and extras, MyRise seems like a fun story mode and My Faction seems like a push towards microtransactions but fun. Faction wars is really fun to play and I’m glad that mode has a select number of entries with limited tickets because you can enjoy it for that one day you play each week, it’s also got some nice unlockables and I just got a Ruby Stone cold. Weekly towers seem ok but the rest just look meh. Worst thing for me is the counter system, it’s more punishing than very hard games like dark souls. You need to press triangle quicker than the flash, so it will defo take me awhile before I increase the difficulty.
More punishing than dark souls games??? You just made me feel like a pro because I have no problems reversing. It must be since you haven’t played in forever.
@@angelserrano9049 yeah maybe because I’m mainly playing my faction also so I don’t know what difficulty settings are turned on there, but yeah seems very strict and easy to get the “early” or “late” message when trying to counter.
@@RobsRemixes You get used to them after a while. Just spam X/Square whenever you cannot counter with triangle. 7/10 times the AI will use that attack and you counter them.
They have to patch the second door for ambulance match. It's so hard to close on the opponents. Love Special guest referee and casket. Haven't tried gauntlet. Overall I'm having fun and the new camera angle is so dope. But it needs to be fixed. Doesn't work in elimination chamber.
Just want to know if it's worth upgrading from 2k23 to 2k24 because, honestly, the animation and entrance of superstars look the same, especially seth, becky etc.
I think Universe not having promos really holds it back.

Great game still missing a lot of things i want in a wwe game like a better universe mode. Spesr through the bsricade in all arenas with context sensitive button, jumping over the barricade to explore, back stage brawl with multi-men more multimen options. Better back stage, brawl better hell in a cell, better turotial desr lord better show case mode, Catching finishers. And various other things that were in previous 2k games also bring back that head lock mini game from i think 2k17.
The game is really good but it can be amazing if we start throwing in all these features.

These objectives are different
One of the things that I am disappointed in is most of the entrances are not updated. Roman still does the Big Dog title entrance, Cody’s entrance isn’t updated, etc. just an observation.
Universe Mode needs to be taken out the game s combined with GM Mode for a Mega Mode. This is my first time actually playing MyFaction and I actually enjoy it and I am invested which is insane.
