I used to use Better Rolls for 5E but it is no longer being supported. I would recommend using MiDi-QOL which (with a little bit of setup) gets you 99% of the way to what Better Rolls did plus it does a lot more for automating things like status effects, damage, concentration checks etc.
Minimal Rolling Enhancements and Retroactive Advantage would be another option if you're not looking to get into all the automation/features that MidiQOL offer
Better Rolls 5e is abandoned, but Ready Set Roll for 5e is now maintained for V10 and works almost the same. I don't like the way MidiQoL rolls dice, and they're not compatible. But for me Ready Set Roll is more useful so I use that over MidiQoL

So, at the beginning of the plague I had been looking into roll20 and Fantasy Grounds. I got overwhelmed so I did none of it. My interest faded. Now that I can play face to face again, I sought out your handcrafted journals. Which strangely led me to this video... And now my vtt interest has been reignited.
First, I shall now forever refer to it as the plague. Second, I use this weird hybrid of physical and virtual stuff. I prefer playing in person, so when I can I run games that way but I still have one campaign that is virtual and so I use Foundry VTT for that one. And I’ll be honest there’s a lot of good stuff and rough stuff about it, but compared to my time with roll20 I like foundry more. That said I looked into Fantasy Grounds but never committed to that one either so if you DO use that one, I’d love an update! Part of me wants to try running games in all the different vtt so that I can share them with everyone and ya’ll can compare and contrast that way. BUT currently not made of money, but perhaps one day, if this channel is ever monetized I can use the funds to do stuff like that. Thanks for sharing though! Always interested in hearing how people find me and what they come here for!
Something I just found myself, that may work better for you than Torch, is DFred's Convenient Effects. you can easily add a ton of premade effects for class features (Rage, Bardic Inspiration), spells (Shield of Faith, Bless), and even Equipment (torches!) You do need a second module (Active Token Effects) for the extra lighting from effects like torches, but it's really useful

Ah, that's because most people use the web version, especially players who are connecting to your server. They'll be doing it through the web. But it's good to know that it doesn't work for the other version. Thanks for letting me know 🙂
Better rolls for 5e is no longer supported unfortunately. But there is a pathfinder equivalent called Pathfinder Workbench. I haven't set it up completely myself but my understanding is that it works much like Midi QOL (which is what you should replace better rolls for 5e)
Does the universal battlemap importer also work with maps handdrawn in roll20 (so consisting of drawn shapes on the map layer)? i have like 300 maps In roll20 that prevent me from switching platform.
I am not sure about this one. It is something that you would have to try or see if someone else has tried before. I can tell you though that if you want to try for yourself, you have 30 days to get a refund for Foundry VTT, which was also a reason I went with them. I figured that if I didn’t like it I could get my $50 back. But I would also check with the Foundry VTT discord community. There may be people there who have tried importing handdrawn maps that could confirm for you!
So I use 5e on foundry and I noticed that at the 4:43 mark that in the chat box , Elira has her acrobatics set up with her photo , skill and roll. What module or setting did you use to make it appear like that ?
So I'm playing an order of the Lycan Blood hunter and i noticed after transferring my dnd beyond sheet over that it didn't bring over a button to use for when i transform from normal to hybrid form. Any idea if they've put such a module to help with that inconvenience? Thanks for the content!
I'm not sure about that one! I do know that the DM has to allow players to polymorph or shapechange, but I don't know if that applies to hybrid forms, since those are slightly different.
I’m not sure what you mean by close it, but you can remove it from the navigation bar up top by right clicking and finding the setting. You can set whether the GM sees it or everyone sees it there. Hope that helps!
@@CantripsMedia I have activated a scene (map) and it comes up for use but I can't seem to deactivate it or close down the picture of it. I'm new to this.
@@nebulanz8232 I had the exact same issue. I would have a ton of scenes in the bar above and it was really confusing. If you right click a scene you want to go away without deleting it you should hit the Toggle Navigation button. That way the scene will go away and you can always add it back into that bar. Did that answer your question?
@@CantripsMedia My bad I was using "TorchLight" a module derived from Torch that let you configure 3 different light sources to switch on or off wich has since been discontinued. Just installed Torch, works like a charm. (3 Sources was nice for Torch/magic Light spell/burglars lamp or Flashlight)
Sorry you feel that way! This video, and most of my videos, probably aren't for you then! Though you could use all these modules to run pathfinder games too.

If you've updated to v10, the excellent Better Rolls module has been replaced by the Ready Set Roll module (Better rolls is no longer being updated)

For all of the times I've seen Pop Out, no one ever mentions it's ONLY for the web version of FVTT.
Ah, that's because most people use the web version, especially players who are connecting to your server. They'll be doing it through the web. But it's good to know that it doesn't work for the other version. Thanks for letting me know 🙂

Better Rolls is great - really great - but it is no longer supported and is beginning to cause bugs and conflicts unfortunately.

Torch stopped working for me with the latest Foundry update. Other than that those are pretty much the go to Modules for me too.
Weird, it was working for me on Friday. They seem pretty good about updating that one though. So hopefully they get it working again
