I can't see how anyone can suggest anyone other than Alvarez
A lot of hate for JWP. I think with 7 goals and 11 assists, he's been reasonably solid. I think in a "possession based" side, we may see a better JWP in 24/25.
Agreed , for me JWP has been played like a lot of the team this year by Moyes as square pegs in round holes, cos Moyes wasn’t sure where to play to the players strengths
JWP is great if you like a CDM who doesn't track back, close down opponents or tackle anyone. As for the possession argument - sideways and backwards is not progressive. May as well get Noble back
Have to agree with you pal. I think he’s actually be decent for us overall. And a manager change could see him progress further at the club

Mark, I think Alverez is the ideal captain for us. He has the look of it at the moment, but I'll wait and see who we get in before I make judgement

for me, the new Captain should be Alverez. Captain of Mexican shows fight and desire on the pitch. Speaks, English / dutch / Spanish very well.
Although I don’t condone it, we don’t really challenge the referee when we’re hard done by.
I don’t like Fernandez but he’s a referees nightmare. He’s bawling at the ref constantly. Same as Maginn at Villa

Why does any team have a captain anymore? The role is redundant. If players can’t motivate themselves then they shouldn’t be on the pitch

Zouma is too nice to be a captain. Bowen probably is too. Others have mentioned JWP. However, I wouldn't have him as a starter so he cannot really be named captain. Zouma is not a leader and, like you say, he is too injury prone. Alvarez is the only one who shows passion and anger on the pitch. He will ruffle a few feathers and not care who he upsets. We need that "nastiness" to be a top team

Out of the current squad I think I'd go with Bowen.
Don't think JWP will be around next season.
JWP shouldn't even be starting, let alone made captain.

JWP should not even be on the pitch. His free kicks and set plays are really nothing to write home about and his open play is generally poor. If it was up to me, I would get Downes back and offload JWP. My choice as captain would be Alvarez, assuming, of course, that he is here next Season!!!
Many managers would have had Zouma straight out of the door after his cat kicking debacle. As an animal lover I'd have had no problem with that. I suppose we needed him at the time but he's past it now.
