So glad your temp broke and you are feeling better. Another enjoyable episode. You are definitely giving us the downsides and upsides of your trip. Hopefully the upsides are plentiful in your trip. Great story telling as usual.
You are now in my neck of the woods. I am about 15 mins from Hammond and 30 mins from Chicago.I am retired from US Steel at Gary, right on the lake. I used to see the lake crazy with waves and then like glass. Could see Chicago sometimes like it was just a few miles away...so clear on days!! Spent many days on the lake when I was kid. Keep up your adventure...good videos!!!
Just found your channel, went back and watched all 20 episodes of the loop so far. Really enjoying your content. Glad you are feeling better, being sick never good.
We share every stop and leg we are doing on the loop, but there are two of us. It's hard to do solo, so we give Michael alot of credit even if he can't share every stop and the sights 😊
Welcome to the real Lake Michigan. You got real lucky coming down as far as Grand Haven. This is much more typical. Hope both you and the boat are ultimately ok.
WOW, the great lakes sure can get rough! Getting out of that slip was what I was thinking! Glad to see you getting better. It's times like that that make doing the loop SOLO really challenging.
Thanks for making the effort to make the video, yo really are showing us how it really is and get well soon. Best regards, Peter Mac Donald ( Penang Malaysia ).
Brutal experience in that rock and roll marina. Good move to go to the anchorage, glad you had a friend to help you sound the depths. Flu can be awful, especially when you are a "senior." Enjoyed the video.
You learned an important lesson. It's literally impossible to "tie a boat down" if it's rockin' and rollin' at the dock in surge. It's ultimately futile. The best thing to do is actually loosen the lines and let it rock rather than try to fight it -- and make sure you have big fenders. I've grabbed a hotel room in a couple marinas that were brutal.
You missed some of the most beautiful towns along lake Michigan. Grand Haven municipal marina is known to rock when the lake is angry. Then you missed Chicago???? You really have no idea what you missed.
Welcome to Lake Michigan! West gales can be problematic, so having extra fenders is a necessity. That is the benefit of being on the Wisconsin side of the Lake.
Sir, any chance you could talk about your experience getting insurance for your boat? All the aspects as far as experience required, etc, etc, etc.... I think insurance will be a major crux to my plans in the fufure.
All I did was request insurance on the Boat US website. Put in all my information and they called me back later that afternoon and asked for a credit card. Was no big deal at all. Only took about 20 minutes. Granted it’s probably not the cheapest but was definitely the simplest.
I am wandering if a person could average out what it would cost for two people who do do not eat out a lot but would enjoy doing their cooking on their boat, I have the opportunity to pick up about a 41 ft riverboat that has been here on lake Cumberland for about 15 years it's a very nice boat I know it well the lady is getting in years and would like to get it settled.. ,, We to people with about 1700 a piece income could we continue our trips up and down to Mississippi and through some of the loop with that kind of income,, if anyone is following aand have good answer I would really appreciate the honesty just about any info giveen me .so I would appreciate it😊 I'm pushing 63 and I think this would be a great way to finish😂 what's left😂 I honestly would appreciate honest opinion
I've heard some folks break it down to about $35,000-$40,000 in costs to to complete the loop. That included their fuel. I think you could have a very nice one year loop experience for around $50,000.00.
I see on one comment you suffer from Migraine? Ocular zig zaggy headache then puking for hours. I had those since I was 11. I have tried the meds. Nothing. Someone gave me great advice which stopped them almost permanently for me and ot may help you too. So I am passing it on to you in the hopes that if it helps you pass it on to the next sufferers uou encounter. Magnesium. Take about 100mg daily. It's cheap and worked well for me. Good luck.
In aviation we have a tern called "Get-home-itis". Meaning a pilot that will fly at any cost to get home. It is a dangerous and selfish practice to use There is probably a like term in boating. You seem retired and that means to me that you can come and go at any time. You should not put your boat, other boats and sailors in jeopardy just to get to the next stop. I remember flying after being awake for over 24 hours. I should not have and neither should you. I look forward to your next video. Take care of yourself.
There is a term in boating which is only travel when it’s safe to do so. I am simply taking advantage of several very short weather windows which are difficult to come by on Lake Michigan this time of year. I’m in no hurry whatsoever. I’ve no real schedule. Not sure why you think otherwise. Cheers.
I just checked and couldn’t find the “requirements” for RUclips video content as to whether or not it’s a narrative or a video of something else. He makes the videos as he wants. What the hell else do you expect from a man with a 101°f fever? Your comment and our responses help the algorithm for him, thank you. 😊
I understand where you are coming from. My channel is not really an entertainment channel, but one to give future Looper’s an inside view of what real life is like on a boat for an entire year by myself. Thanks for understanding.
We hear you! Now you probably feel why our videos are so far in arrears 😅 This is the 1st week we have taken off since starting our channel, almost a year ago!😅😅
I never thought about getting sick while on the Loop, thanks for keeping it real👍🏼

Grand Haven is my home port. I liked how you speeded up the video of your boat rocking. 😂
Glad to here you are feeling better!

@MarkandMel I understand...and certainly meant no disrespect. I've enjoyed y'alls videos as well.

I think we got the flu at Macinaw City. No fun but at least it was during the rough weather. Glad you are better now and on the mid west rivers 👍
Thanks for making the effort to make the video, yo really are showing us how it really is and get well soon. Best regards, Peter Mac Donald ( Penang Malaysia ).
Many thanks!

Tough one for you but hope you are on the mend. Good to see the sense of humour still intact with the ‘pregnancy’ test 😂
Always!
Glad you're feeling better! If you need anything while in the Peoria area I'd be glad to help out!
Thanks

It was definitely a learning experience for me.
We sail the Bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. The Lake can be brutal. It is a dangerous body of water
I am convinced you are the toughest man on Earth! Take care of yourself.
Wow, thanks.
Dock line snubbers will help with the sudden bang when the boat rolls back and forth
The old saying goes, feed a cold starve a fever
You needed to be on the Wisconsin side…. Typically the less violent side.
That would be body surfing weather and waves for us growing up on Mona Lake :)
Best to get read of theh felling with a bottle of jim beam😂❤
You showed the marina at Michigan City
What google map video program is that?
what is the max height on the calumet ..and the chicago route
Chicago river is 17’. The Cal-Sag I think was 19’.
0if we didn't know you.we would probably think something else was going on there😂❤
Downtown Chicago is way safer than the South Side.
I feel your pain I to suffer from migraines perpetually for the last 17 years
Not fun.
Lime is acidic is that what they recommend for a sore throat?
Only a few drops to make the tea taste nice.
What day u get tour..we go outs about5 day s ags.. were here in south ky on lake clumberland.,,mom Set2 .out funk was 3 to 4 day...
I always think being on a boat is about as safe as you can be from catching the flu. Who are you hanging around with at the marina 😂
I went to Walmart.
Bei einer Grippe Tipp - frische Hühnersuppe
Bei Grippe - Tipp - frische Hühnersuppe !
Danke für den Tipp
What model Meridian. It looks like a great size for doing the Loop.
It’s a 2006 391
@@MV_Checkmate Thank you. Enjoy the journey.

But Michigan is way more scenic imho
Its good we can't catch anything through the camera 😮
😂

Thats bad.
Sounds like a beautiful place to stay (NOT)
The whole point of RUclips is to show your experiences with VIDEO, THIS NOT A NARRATIVE. Your videos keep getting less and less worth watching.
His channel his content let the man do what he’s doing

Man. That was a boring boring episode. Pls don’t do that again. Was brutal.
You’re right.
I just had to take a week away from filming and enjoy where I have been traveling.
We hear you! Now you probably feel why our videos are so far in arrears 😅 This is the 1st week we have taken off since starting our channel, almost a year ago!😅😅
You can always click out if you are bored. Don't be a hater. This is his channel and his video vlog. Others find him interesting.
