You probably have the most real channel I’ve watched on boat life. There is nothing you show that glorifies how “wonderful” and “awesome” everyday is. There is no editing to make it look like pretty puppies and fluffy kitties with no problems. I am a huge fan right from the first loop video as you left the dock for potential disaster at the draw bridge. You are real.
@@MV_Checkmate I have some serious thoughts that you have much knowledge of what you’re doing. I only dream of owning a boat and doing what you’re doing. It was a dream for a very long time. Maybe I will stow away in the engine room if I am so lucky someday to deserve such a ride. Safe travels sir.
Our brains certainly trick us into thinking we are younger. We are in our mid and late 70’s and don’t feel it until we trip or run into a door frame. We applaud you for taking on this adventure. We never miss your videos and always look forward to the next one. Stay safe Michael.
Glad you weren’t hurt any worse. Be careful Captain Mike! Is there any better smell when outside than 🥓🥓. When you get to Alabama, buy some Conecuh hickory smoked bacon. Sausage is also terrific. Soothing video👍
Man, I feel for you. The lip will mend slowly but surely. You're going to have a nasty scar but the rib will be the worst of it. They take forever to heal and there's nothing they can do for bruised or broken ribs. Basically you just have to deal with it and even though it hurts like hell, in time you will be breathing with a little less pain. It will take a very long time for that rib to heal and I'm sorry you have to go thru this but you really need to take it easy and give yourself time to heal. Just because the rib has not punctured anything yet does not mean it still can't cause internal damage. You really should get the boat home and get it docked then work on getting better without worrying about the boat. You suffered a lot of trauma and you need to give your body time for mending.
I am really enjoying the trip! (without getting banged up) Your camera angles and all the photography is great. Mayflies are a pain, got an attack, if that is what you call it, camping near Lk. Nona years ago, never forget it. Have fun, stay safe. Thanks.
Thanks. Some of my cam angles could be framed up much better when I’m docking. Also the camera I use to show me driving has terrible audio. I just need to stick to all GoPros. They are hard to beat.
Ouchie... so sorry you got hurt. I know how you feel and it took me a long time finally accept I'm not as young as I used to be. And as we get older it takes longer to heal. New subscriber here, so I can follow Along on your trip. I really liked that Marina in Alton, and I just looked up their dockage rates which I thought were very reasonable for such a nice Marina. Take care
I cracked a rib, and the real pain kicked in about two days later. I couldn't move in bed. Almost called 911. Man, I hope you have a full recovery. Sorry to see that happened to you. Be well, and safe travels.
I was out fishing at night on the Tennessee river And the mayflies went nuts. When I came back in to the dock Light on the dock Was dark from being so covered up with mayfly flies
Wow! That was some fall you took. It truly broke my heart. I hope you feel better now. I bought electric bikes just because of the wheel size. Not as big of an issue with potholes. Great videos. Thank you for sharing.
Yep, I agree. It was a small pothole which a bicycle wheel would probably have rolled over without issue. I do have a nice bicycle on board, but the scooter is just so much more convenient. I guess I may have to re-think that in future store trips.
OUCH OUCH OUCH! Glad it did not need stitches and the rib did not puncture your lung. The long stretches on that river with few good places to stop at night must be stressful.
Mike, I’m very much enjoying your trip. 2 questions for you. 1. Where was your most northerly point on the loop? 2. Where is your midway point? Thanks and safe boating.
Most northern point was Baie Fine Ontario in the north channel. Episode #15 I guess that was also pretty close to my midway point being that I started in Florida.
Glad you are feeling better. Accidents can happen to any one at any age. If safety is the main concern we should just sit on the couch. But is this really living? Live while you can and take your chances. Good luck man I really enjoy your films
I couldn’t agree with you more. You just have to go out and grab each day by the horns and if things go sideways, just laugh and keep on having a good time. I just hope I live through it, ha.
I feel your pain. I put my front tooth through my upper lip playing foot ball when I was 14. It broke my tooth off. My dad was the coach and he made me play the rest of the game. The worst part was when I breathed and the air went past the nerve on the broken tooth. I am 74 now and I can still remember it. No broken rib though.
Anti-inflammatory meds will help . I was in an auto accident & got everything on my left side broken . All I took were anti-inflammatory OTC for 4 weeks.
When you were going thru the lock 25; your camera view was kinda up and I had a view of the bimini roof. Are those magnets to hold your flexible solar panels? And if so; have you had any issues with them not holding down your panels? Thanks in advance!!❤
ive seen many people have a cordless blower onboard for exactly this reason. get underway until things dry out and then use the blower and clear them off.
get a tube of super glue and use that next time for any cuts. it'll seal the skin so it wont get infected and dries fast so just hold skin together and dab some glue in a few places and once that dries then put it over the whole cut. the dr. did that when i busted my forehead open and the dr. told me next time i can fix myself up. i have since used it on other cuts on fingers and arms and no dr. visits lol.. now a broke rib well ya cant glue bones together.
They are for the magnets on the upper side to hold onto for my solar panels and Starlink dish. Maybe I will do a quick video insert this week showing that.
The boat has a built-in central vacuum system, also have a small wet vac. At the time I didn’t think I needed a broom, but I guess I was wrong. You’ll be happy to know that I just came back from the hardware store and bought a small broom and dustpan.
That rib will probably take a few months to heal. Depending on how it is broken, is sometimes feels better to put pressure on it. But it sounds like that might not be the case with your injury.
Sorry about your accident...what kind of scooter do you have? knowing what you know now about that scooter, do you recommend a different/safer style? hope you feel better...cheers!
The accident wasn’t the scooter’s fault, it was all mine. I take full blame. I drive it like I’m 10 years old. I go flying around corners, jumping curbs, and act like a total kid. I’m always trying to have fun. I just need to calm my old butt down. Ha.

Slow down on that scooter, speed demon. I went over the handle bars on a bicycle doing about 20 mph when I was young. I think a dog cut in front of me. Not fun, I still have the scars under my mustache and beard. Hope you are feeling better.
That scooter doesn’t seem like a good idea on a number of levels, none of them have anything to do with your age imo. Most importantly You can’t carry anything on it without altering the lean and ride of it. A folding bike that has a rack to attach saddle bags is a better option. Doesn’t mean you can’t wipeout but it just seems like a better option to me when needing to carry stuff and absorb abnormal pavement.

It’s new. I had it installed at the beginning of the year.
Glad you're on the mends. Quick question... at 34:05 in the video, did I see a bent port side rail?
Ummmm, maybe. Guess I’ll tell that story as well. Next video.

Good eye. Yes, they hold my solar panels. So far, they have been rock solid.
ive seen many people have a cordless blower onboard for exactly this reason. get underway until things dry out and then use the blower and clear them off.
That sounds like a great idea.
I bought a small ‘leaf blower’ at Harbor Freight that shares the battery with my wet-dry vac. Keep both onboard for such a reason.

That's what they used on my pacemaker insion, Super glue can't see it anymore
OH MY GOSH! I sure hope you went to the doctor for you lip; that looks bad. You should take it easy for a day of two, maybe.
