- Hello folks. Today is a video aimed towards helping the boatless anglers as we cast from shore.
If you're interested in getting the Duo-Lock snaps for yourself, you can get them here: store.thundermi...
As always good luck and good fishin'!
Ivo
Oh wow - I never thought about the "snap" thing before. Nice vid, thanks guys.
The reason I like using snaps when fishing on shore is that unlike on a boat, I'm only bringing 1 or 2 rods (vs a rod for every different type of lure). The snap allows me to quickly change lures without having to constantly retie. Thanks for the vids. Very informative.
Glad you are enjoying our videos and thanks for writing in :)
Thanks for all these great videos!
So glad you are enjoying our videos and thanks for writing in :)
Thanks Ivo for another great video full of tips... I didn't wait for my spoons to reach the bottom I was just letting them touch the water abd then start retrieve I guess I will change my technique and improve my results.... thanks again chief I can't wait for new episodes catching those big trouts that you always get....
Glad you enjoyed this episode and I need to get out there for trout soon :)
Good casting tecniques
Awesome videos! Been learned so much about fishing going through the channel. Keep it up!
So glad you are enjoying our videos and thanks for the great feedback :)
Sir you are Awesome in teaching and in fishing.
Perfeck mr. Amazing thank u🇮🇩
Great video! Those birds are crazy!!
+Michael Borman Thanks for writing in Michael and good luck on the water :)
Nice. Thank you for the tips!
Thank you for such a great and smart video truly!
I subscribed because your video I just watched on " The boat less anger " was the best! thank you sincerely!
So glad you are enjoying our videos Eric and we really appreciate the feedback you gave us - thanks for subscribing and good fishing :) PS> we typically come out with 1 video/week
Great vid Ivo. good info on the snaps. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed this casting episode and good luck on the water :)
Hi Ivo! Great video as always--had to laugh when I heard your squeaking reel on the retrieve at 3:51...refreshing to see your equipment similar to the 'common man'. Got my brother on the channel now too; he loves it. Hey, and as always, I would love to go fishing with you guys! :)
Great to hear from you Matt and send my best to your brother as well....great to have him on board :) As for my tackle, it's definitely as common as it gets :) :) :)
One last point. If you're fishing northern pike, a pike will bite right through your fishing line unless you use high diameter fluorocarbon or a fine titanium leader. Those ready-made titanium leaders have the appropriate size snap so no problem there.
Thanks for sharing your tips with us :)
Would you Please let us know what lure use for what fish? And do all the lure have to have weight and how much weight and what kinda shape of weight, Thanks
Spinners are a good, all-purpose lure, good for many species :)
Hi Ivo I was just wondering if you could just go to any pond with a variety of fish and just use worms and see what's biting. If you could do that that would be great. Thanks
Hi Tyse - here's an episode that come close to what you are asking for - hope you like it :) Boatless Angler - Shore Fishing in a Quarry for Tiny Rock Bass and Tiny Bullhead Catfish
Always a great show, thanks! That bird was annoying though, haha!
LOL :)
God job....I danz from indonesia
Great helpful tips! Thanks!
Ivo can please do a video on your tackle box? Please
Awesome! I appreciate that you take your time to tell us these great tips and tricks! This video will definitely help me out.
So glad you enjoyed this video on casting techniques Jeremie and hope you are able to enjoy some great days on the water :)
Please tell us about using poppers from shore.. How to pop if water in waves n size of poppers
When using poppers from shore and there are waves, try to pop against the waves or 90 degrees to the waves...i.e. for best results, just try to avoid popping with the waves :) Good luck
@@thundermistlures i will apply.. Thank u
good, informative video Ivo. before I got my boat, I was always fishing from shore. if you know how, you can hammer some tanks!! Cheers!
Great to hear from you and hope you are enjoying some fantastic fishing in your boat as well as from shore :)
Would you use a snap for a spinner?
thanks for the tip, the other thing which made me lose my lure is seaweed.
Will the pitching technique potentially break a graphite rod? Appreciate your input
HI Ivan...it shouldn't, but if you have a very stiff rod, it would be best not to put excess pressure on it - good luck on the water :)
Where do you recommend a shore bass fisherman to fish during late fall?
If you have a river close by, you can fish the shore line....the bass in the lakes will be moving deep - Rivers are your best bet :)
can we actually get any fish using lures instead of worms? im going camping soon and i would like to catch my dinner so worms will be hard to get so i plan on using lures , but will they actually get us fish from shores?
Yes - you can catch plenty of fish with lures right from shore :) Hope you have a great camping trip
+Thundermist Lures Alright Thanks, have a good day !
learned a lot... thanx so much...
My friends father told me to tie my spinnerbaits direct, and I believe you said to use a snap swivel, so which is it? :)
The snap swivel allows the bait to move more, whereas tying it directly, limits the movement.
tie direct to a spinnerbait... If you use a snap you have a greater chance of the bait fouling up during the cast.
I have found that trying different methods and using the one that works for the person, then stay with that. however the more informed the better chance of catching the trophy fish. tight lines and good fishing
depends on the spinnerbait too. Booyah's have just a bend to tie to so if you use a snap on your line, the snap will move up and down on the bends of the wire fouling the lure. the Pikee's have a loop at the bend, which I'll snap on a wire leader. I've just found out that tying direct works best if you aren't going for toothy critters. Ya don't want your knot moving on the wire of the spinnerbait. action is great, but reeling in a fouled out bait usually spooks the fish away.
however you attach it to your line... always use a trailer hook! tight lines!
Hey Ivo when i fish for trout i find that i cant cast my spoon out far enough that i think i need to. Would it ruin the movement of my spoon if i added a weight to the swivel/snap? Also how do i know what size of spoon to use and what size the treble hook at the back should be? These trout are rainbows and are about 40cm long. Thanks for the video aswell.
Suggest adding an in line stinker or some split shots about a foot in front of your spoon, so it doesn't interfere with the action - suggest using a small spoon such as a 1/4 oz size :)
*****
Thanks Ivo. I dunno about were you are but were i am i ireland the pike fishings great this time of year. Do you do Pike fishing
dlow364 I love to pike fish and will try to do some episodes in 2015 - we are in Canada :) Shore Fishing Tips for Pike
How to Fillet a Northern Pike - Fillet a Northern Pike with No Bones - Pike Cleaning
what about snap swivels can i use those instead
Yes - you can certainly use a snap/swivel combo as well :)
@ Rico... I've been using small snap barrel swivels since forever... not only do they make changing lures fast and simple the biggest advantage is they eliminate a lot of line twist you get when reeling in your lures and fish... some of my friends use only the snaps and they end up with bird nests because of all the line twist.
If you use snaps only then you need to keep an eye on your monofilament line for twists and loops.
good video though the title threw me off. the tips are very good. i use the method for cranks but i still get snagged sometimes. best is if you feel that it is under a rock or about to snag to stop reeling even give out some line and let it float back up.though it doesnt always work. and even walking to sides of it doesnt work 100% so you still lose em sometimes. also shoulda showed to make sure your line is not wrapped at tip of pole before casts so it doesnt break off during cast. only because if first timers are watching to learn, its best to explain how to work through some of the problems that you can run into during your trip. i thought you were gonna show how to max cast and not how to retrieve lures. only thing i think you should also show from shore is proper casts with using the right hand as a pivot and the left hand at lower end of rod to hit max distance casts instead of the one handed boaters casts. though your pitching cast is how you want to do it the lazy one hand overhand casts i never do from shore. which ya if fish are close to you are fine but those casts are very short. and when im on shore if no one is on my sides i will still cast 60 yards down the bank instead of a one hand boaters cast to try to keep my lure in the zone as much as i can. also could have went into to match your line to your rod reel and lures too for max efficiency of casting staying in the bite zone longer ect. keep up the videos tight lines
...thanks for the feedback....sounds like I could do a few more videos with all these tips :) good fishing,
thanks , good video
Glad you liked this video Albert and good luck on the water :)
Trying out a bass lure to marrow hope it works
Hope you had a great day on the water :)
That`s great tip for how to avoid getting stuck on rocks. Also have a questions, how long averagely do you take to lure fishing a fish at shores ? I`ve fished in shores about an hour, several times, and just can`t fish any fishes.
Hi Matthew...sometime i will crank from shore all morning :)
Thanks for the reply! That relieve me a lot.
is it possible to fish for largemouth bass during early april. Do you have any recommendations. Thanks (:
pro fisherman spanser here in Ontario, bass season is closed until the 4th Saturday in June, however, if it is open where you are, you can certainly start to get into largemouth bass in April :)
Ok, thanks what kinds of fish can you catch in the northeast near Ontario from shore in freshwater in early april ? what lure do i use? Thanks.
pro fisherman spanser You can catch trout, pike, perch and walleye. Live minnows on a T-Turn rig is a good method if you wnat to use live bait, however, if you wnat to use artificail bait, try jigging. If you have not seen it yet, here is our latest video and you will see both of these techniques - good luck on the water :) ruclips.net/video/R9xxTUvv1Q8/видео.html
Could you do a video like this for high docks
Hello Jax - if an opportunity presents itself, we will :)
How do you tell whether your lure hit the bottom or not?
Hi Fue - when casting a spoon, you can let it fall on a semi-slack line. Once it hits bottom, your line will go suddenly limp....watch the line and you will be able to tell :)
Thanks Ivo. Love the newest videos. Keep them coming!
Hey mate, great video, just to let you know though, your boots are undone. Would hate to see you trip!
+Stephen James ....old habit of mine :) Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water
Excellent video Ivo 👍Btw do You have croatian ancestry?Ivo is very common name in Croatia.
... I get asked that alot.....actually, it's Italian descent :)
Neighbour accross the Adriatic sea. That is why You are such a great fisherman.Italians invented so much in fishing.👍
.thanks for the help
Glad you enjoyed this video on casting techniques :)
Nice one brother how can i contact you,i haaave some doubts
Some crankbaits will float if you tie directly but sink if there is a snap attached. Poor design (looking at you, KVD). The lure is good if you have the depth, though.

any video on how to cast very far
...the longer the rod, the longer the cast and here is a video on how to gain casting distance in the wind: ruclips.net/video/pGxuM_eMwqw/видео.html
very informative
So gald you enjoyed this episode on casting techniques and thanks for writing in :)
all I want is to be sponsored! let's battle for your title, lol
LOL - thanks for writing in :)
Hate it for the homeless man whose shoes you stole. Good info, good video.
Be careful, I'm afraid to bite the hand, it will be beautiful if in Indonesia, fish is dangerou
Hey I have a tip why don't you tie your shoes up so you don't trip and fall into the water lol
Not sure I would use a crankbait from shore. Too much chance it might get hung up. Soft plastics Texas rigged is the best choice. Spinnerbaits might be OK too if you know the area well. But no way would I use a crankbait unless I know the water is very deep right up to the shore.
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us and if by chance you do ever decide to sue a crank bait from shore, we hope these tips will help :) Good fishing,
Boatless? much
hey Ivo, your videos need to be atleast 45mins plus !!
Thanks for the great feedback :)
Telling new fisherman to use a snap with no swivel is irresponsible. They get line twist and a nightmare mess dont know why and are turned off to fishing.
why in movies they throw bait all the time, i mean they move rods up and down all the time... dont you need some time waiting for fish to bite or the bait needs to move all the time?
when using lures or jigs, it best to keep them moving - when using live bait, you can wait for a bite, or you can also slowly move it along as well :)
So wait, why not just use like the size zero for everything?
I've never caught a fish that weighs over 50lbs in my life, and there's no lake for 100 miles that would have any that big. Why buy more snaps when the small ones will work for any conceivable situation?
the size 0 is a great all purpose size, but if you are going to use a tiny crank bait for example, you may want to go with a smaller snap :)
Quite a bit of a late reply, but one thing to think about in regards to the 50lb strength, that 50lb strength is usually rated by pulling straight on the snap until it breaks, fish seldom ever pull straight and evenly, head shakes and twists and turns of the fish’s body and etc can generate a lot of force and torque on your line and your snap, a 20lb fish could very well bite your lure or fight with a force much greater than its body weight, and that snap is most likely weaker when it comes to that vs straight pulls done in its testing, hope that makes sense. Plus, sometimes small snaps can be a pain to use on certain lures, so a bigger snap would be easier to use and not hinder your fishing at the same time.
Amazing tips! I am a big fan of live bait angler, but these techniques makes me want to try out these new toys
I use a 7' but want to go bigger
Hi Ivo
Looks like you guys had one heck of a good time fishing even tho it was so very cold as you say , nice lake trout - thanks for sharing the video with us you tube people .
Glad you enjoyed our recent trout episode and thanks for writing in :)
thanks for doing this I'm sure this will help improve my catch percentage
That's great mr.aaronD and hope you have many great days on the water :)
Man you explained so good ,,,, Thank you teacher
And if you really want to make long casts, get an 8-1/2 or 9 foot rod and learn what is known as British Surf Casting, the trick to which is having the rod moving forward while the lure is still moving backward. Seriously, Google it. What this guy is telling you does work, but only half as good as BSC. It ends up imitating the way a trebuchet works.
Between the fkn Squawk Squawk Squawk Squawk Squawk and the fkn Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak I didn't hear shit. Lmfao Hahahaha
Woww, can you tell me what rod you were using in this video, feels decent
that was one of my old Quantum Tour Edition Rods :)
What is the name of that crank bait lure that you are using ?
By the way, Thanks for the great video..as always it is :)
If you're going to do a video....at least oil your reel the night before LOL I cringed at every rotation of that crank ...eek, eek, eek, eek.......like fingernails on a chalkboard LMAO
LOL :)
I have noticed the manufacturers of crank baits right on the packaging, recommend tying the crank bait directly to the line and adjusting its retrieval characteristics by bending one way or the other, the part the line is tied to. How say you to this?
...the bending of one way or the other is to help adjust the lure if it is not running true...as for tying direct, take a look as this video when |I talk about using snaps vs tying direct: ruclips.net/video/-4-hWQ8yOYk/видео.html
Another thing that will help anyone's fishing would be to look after their reels. Turn the sound up a little just before the "once again" at 3:50 and listen to your reel. Sounds terrible mate. If you're offering instruction to newbies, at lest have your gear up to a decent standard.
+MrTatts64 Thanks for writing in MrTatts64 and all the best to you in 2016 and good fishing :)
+Thundermist Lures You're welcome and you too mate!
Lol! Seriously! Happy 2018
I've noticed he almost always casts one-handed. Is that just a preference or is there some reason behind it? It seemed a bit odd to me because I almost always use two hands.
It's just a preference of mine, but I do also use 2 hands to cast sometimes as well :)
what rod is that
This place look ideal for family fishing. Where is this place and how to get there. Thank you!
This is Port Delhousie and it is a great place to visit with family :)
Great video as always. Would you use a "snap" with a jighead?
Hi Marcus - I prefer to tie my jig heads directly - here is a short video with some details on this subject :) ruclips.net/video/-4-hWQ8yOYk/видео.html
Thanks, can you explain which reels n rod we buy for fishing
..here you go: ruclips.net/video/2QEz6ECaBSo/видео.html ruclips.net/video/5z5LwJS3G0o/видео.html
Nice vid Ivo ... That's a pretty squeaky reel ....
Can you please do a vid on reel maintenance ?
....if I get a chance to and perhaps my squeaky reel would be a good one to demo with :) :)
I'll look forward to it ... I really enjoy all your videos,
they're very informative.
is that the crusader rod
Actually, it was a Quantum tour edition rod :)
where was the video filmed?
thanks!!
Port Delhousie Ontario :)
Can I use this technique for soft plastic lures?
Yes you can use a similar technique....you will need to let your soft plastic sink for a bit first, before you start to retrieve :)
+Thundermist Lures Thank you very much btw love your video.
Hey do u only sell ur stuff only in America
Hi Samer - Thundermist Lure Company ships world wide :)
perfect
what do you use when you fish the marina in port?
+Mack'n either a t-turn rig with live bait, or if fishing with lures, we like the Python Darter and the Misty Minnows :)
+Thundermist Lures It's to much Talking Next time Plz Just go straight To fishing everyone has their different ways Of fishing that they like just fish next time Less talk no disrespect in anyway
+Thundermist Lures your a good fisher I just like it when they get straight to It and waste no time
....thanks for the feedback Joshkilla and hope you have many great days on the water :)
