Sometimes people don't give you room enough to grow they may love you but they hold you back so you need room to breathe sometimes.
Mainly because of music difference. I think he wanted to keeps his signature sound while the band wanted to do radio friendly rock. It was also because of Neil. Him and Neil had a lot of issues with each other. Adam said in a interview that he had no reason or desire to talk to Neil. No music difference and Neil are the reason he left

Perhaps few will agree with me, but Transit Of Venus is massively underrated and overlooked as an album. It's very consistent and has great memorable hooks like this song. I sincerely think that it's mostly bad marketing decisions and the band's weird state that made this album kind of a black sheep in their discography.
