Adam wrote a lot of the songs on One-X in rehab like Over and Over, Animal I Have Become and Riot. The band said themselves in interviews that they all wrote the rest of the songs from One-X at Neil's cottage. And most of the songs from Three Days Grace were written by Adam, Neil and Brad in high school before Barry even joined the band. Adam still plays Three Days Grace songs in his live performances because he has personal connections to those songs.
Besides he's the original artist he should not have to justify singing anything he wants. It's a cover if he sings a Phil Collins song but not if he sings his own.
Awesome version. I love how the first chorus is softer, it makes the other choruses seem more epic.

God damn, I miss the good old three days grace. If I had the seven dragon balls, I would make a wish to reunite adam gontier to his former band.

I think he may be referring to the pianist, Dani Rosenoer. He's a touring member, providing backing vocals and piano for their upcoming tour, but not an official member of the band.
Actually, Stone Sour was revived because it gave Corey an outlet where he was in creative control of sound/lyrics, and it was a release for things he can't do in Slipknot.
