From what I have read online, Innis was quite a champion for the rights of the elderly and was a hero trying to fight for improved care for his mother in long term care. There’s a wonderful podcast that featured him and the whole family story. He may have been going through a hard time during this show, he seemed to have made a wonderful use of his life and loved his family and children very deeply. ❤
These stories may seem bad to some people, for Canadian's all these stories are familiar. When I read comments condemning any of Gail"s projects I realize that in other countries access to credit is never a problem no matter how large the debt.
I miss his voice so much. Before y’all talk ur shit in the comments he was an incredible man and father. This was in 2008 and not enough to form an opinion of him.
Sorry to hear about his passing. He seems like a decent man to me, Riley, and you’re right it was a long time ago and you can never truly know about a person just from a TV show.
So sorry to hear his passing. It looks like he got his act together though, so I hope you all had a happy family life. This must seem a very strange version of home movies for you.
I’m so sorry that you lost him. I read what he did to bring attention to the poor care of his mother at her retirement home. That is so admirable. He seemed like such a good person. Sucks people are judging him solely on this.
He seemed like he was really struggling dealing with the separation of his family and that was a big part of the “laziness”. I’m glad Gail was able to help him out of his slump. He looked like a very good dad. I wonder if he and Rachel stayed together. She seemed pretty shell shocked from the condo challenge.
Her comment about not throwing the relationship away over something like money shows her lack of insight. He has 2 children and is only working 25 hours a week and living on his mom's couch. Motivation, commitment, and selflessness are what's the problem.
Guys - this show was filmed almost 15 years ago. He recently passed away and both of his children have posted comments here. Ask yourself if a judgmental comment about a version of a man from 15 years ago is kind or necessary. May he Rest In Peace.
My absolute favorite episodes of this show are the ones where the people really recognize their behavior, have supportive significant others, and those that Gail really vibes with. Innis has all 3 of those and is truly an amazing person!!
It’s sad to hear that he passed away at 45 years old. His children would be fresh out of high school and going off to university. I hope he learned a lesson from the show and enjoyed the time with his children and Rachael.
God bless his family. I can’t imagine how rough it has been without their dad. I hope this show brings some comfort to his family and friends. I would love an entire show to watch that captured the smiles and laughs of them.
You know, it seems like he was just going through a bit of depression with losing his family and sleeping in his car. He just needed a kick to get him out of it. He took it pretty well after that.
Everyone telling Rachel to run… I hope Innis ran from her. The way she spoke about having the kids live with them, even as a part time scenario was a 🚩
I was looking for this comment. I am so sad to hear he died. He seemed like a good dad, just in a down part of his life. May he rest in peace. God bless his family. 🙏🏼
I agree. She clearly saw her future potential step children as annoyances and ignored the reality that they are family members. Only wanting them to spend one night a week at their dad's? Selfish
One glaring omission: the cost of raising children. Does he owe child support? Or does he have equal custody? It does not address his financial obligations to supporting the children....
Seems like this opened his eyes to something, especially when he said, “it showed me who I really was”. It’s interesting how sometimes we don’t see ourselves.
Love watching this show. Parents aren't doing their kids a favor by NOT teaching them to live within their means. To be 30 years old and have nothing is not only sad - it appears parents have never taught him responsibility.
And preferring that his children only spend one night a week with their father. She would rather take a father away from his children to fulfill her emotional needs. She's a grown ass woman who can't put children's needs ahead of her own
If he actually woke up, and he is taking care of his kids the way he cares for Rachel, then Rachel just has to be sure she’s ready to jump in. Gail gave her a glimpse to see if she could handle it. Smarty
