- Almost 30 years old, divorced dad Innis has spent the last year dodging creditors and crashing on his mother’s couch. From what I have read online, Innis was quite a champion for the rights of the elderly and was a hero trying to fight for improved care for his mother in long term care. There’s a wonderful podcast that featured him and the whole family story. He may have been going through a hard time during this show, he seemed to have made a wonderful use of his life and loved his family and children very deeply. ❤
Her comment about not throwing the relationship away over something like money shows her lack of insight. He has 2 children and is only working 25 hours a week and living on his mom's couch. Motivation, commitment, and selflessness are what's the problem.
Guys - this show was filmed almost 15 years ago. He recently passed away and both of his children have posted comments here. Ask yourself if a judgmental comment about a version of a man from 15 years ago is kind or necessary. May he Rest In Peace.

I’m so sorry that you lost him. I read what he did to bring attention to the poor care of his mother at her retirement home. That is so admirable. He seemed like such a good person. Sucks people are judging him solely on this.

It’s sad to hear that he passed away at 45 years old. His children would be fresh out of high school and going off to university. I hope he learned a lesson from the show and enjoyed the time with his children and Rachael.

One glaring omission: the cost of raising children. Does he owe child support? Or does he have equal custody? It does not address
his financial obligations to supporting the children....
He likely has child support taken out of his check.

He certainly didn't have equal custody of his children because he didn't have anywhere fir the children to live.

You know, it seems like he was just going through a bit of depression with losing his family and sleeping in his car. He just needed a kick to get him out of it. He took it pretty well after that.

Love watching this show. Parents aren't doing their kids a favor by NOT teaching them to live within their means. To be 30 years old and have nothing is not only sad - it appears parents have never taught him responsibility.

This man went on to be a great advocate for his mother and others in care homes. Upon his recent passing Jagmeet Singh tweeted:
“The sudden loss of Innis Ingram is saddening and a shock to many who knew him.
The work of unpaid caregivers is often unseen.
However, Innis' advocacy and his fight for the betterment of conditions for his mother and all in long-term care will not be forgotten.”
We have all made mistakes and grown. It’s important to keep that in mind as you decide to make harsh comments and judge someone based on a tiny snapshot of their life.
@dreamland what are you even talking about? The abuses in long term care homes have been addressed by all political parties in Canada. Naturally they all have different political philosophies on tackling the problem.
If he actually woke up, and he is taking care of his kids the way he cares for Rachel, then Rachel just has to be sure she’s ready to jump in. Gail gave her a glimpse to see if she could handle it. Smarty

This version of him is just about the norm for “men” in America now. They should watch this and learn from his mistakes and become a man like he did.

Did Rachel have children with your father? Did you have a good relationship with your step mom? Do you still keep in contact with her?
Watching this I would have told her to run. Being a step mom is very hard (I'm one) and he doesn't seam to be in a good place in his life.
I had a step mom too and when my father choose to end his life this step mom, who my dad had broken up with, come to claim all his assets.

He passed away last year. His mother is in long term care and was treated atrociously during the pandemic. He protested, did hunger strikes, etc.

I’m so sorry. I hate the fact that a tiny moment of weakness in a good man’s life now become immortal with internet. This is exploitation of a good man. Appalling that his passing won’t change that. You would think they would be deferent to a dead man not to broadcast his lowest point in life.
