  • You want speed? how about more power? than this is the video for you. Applies to many different types of 2 stroke wheels out there. Pretty much all the power gains you can do with the motor apart. For the beginning builders, see stage 1. Hope you enjoy this.
    I AM NOT responsible for any problems this creates. This is for educational purposes only.

    I just caught this video on my feed. Not sure why I’m surprised at the professional keyboard Porter’s poking fun, to no avail. I enjoy your enthusiasm and appreciate you trying to help others gain performance. Many of these techniques are what we use in the chainsaw racing world👍🏻

    There were a few good tips and a few bad tips in that video, but at the end of the day its just a tiny 2 stroke Chinese motor so there is not much u can do to the motor to get it to go harder. Changing to hotter or colder plugs can help and jetting the carb & adding a better filter is about all you can do to the engine to make a noticeable difference, but heaps of power can be gained by changing the exhaust expansion chamber tuned lengths of pipe (which are the pipes before & after the widest part of the exhaust system.)

    might be a good idea to weigh the piston before and after you start the job, and then only take that amount of weight off the crank to avoid balance issues.

    Polishing a cylinder bore actually increases friction, but not because of increased contact area. Polishing a cylinder decreases lubrication because there are less grooves to hold oil. Polishing therefore also increases operating temp. Less oil and increased operating temp is obviously not a good idea.

    Actually that part of the crank case that you mentioned fuel goes through is actually a crank case pressure point feeding pulse of air from the crank case over there by the base gasket, it directs those air pulses towards the metering diaphragm for the carb to pump fuel from the tank that sits below therefore no gravity. Only used for a below level tank that needs assistance to pump upward

    I would like to add to your brilliant video is polish the crank so it travels through the oil and no drag

    lightening the crankshaft too much will rev up faster but lose top end power as it loses rotational momentum

    Clear tape in the magic marker will allow you to make gasket sizes

    Good job with porting and airflow but fail with bearings. The motor oil will have a much lower drop temp then bearings run dry and a bad day starts. Pack them with a good bearing grease. It may seem thick but its not at temp and your bearings will love you.

    Hey the real reason why that you want to have your fuel inlet rough your intake Port is because it comes all the way in real smooth so it can roll faster but when it gets right down to the nitty gritty before it enters the carburetor we want it to be cross hatched or rough surface because it splits the fuel up from liquid to vapor and viper ignites better it makes a bigger explosion with less fire so that is the real reason why that you want to cross hatch or have it your fuel intake really rough just right before it hits the carburetor no where before that though because it does run faster when it's smooth but it's liquid we want it to transfer to vapor before it hits the carburetor so it when it's injected then it will therefore be ignited a lot better

    I wouldn't bother polishing it as it will burn away an may cause more damage such as spark plug going a dark blue or white that shows it has been burning wrong

    I have a bike with broken rings, I took them out and couldn't find replacements, will it work without any? I've heard it will completely ruin the chamber

    • @russianpegs
      @russianpegs 9 лет назад +3

      without piston rings, you won't have compression, more wear, and combustion could possibly occur beyond the piston and cause big problems. I wouldn't try to run the engine without rings unless it's to experiment

  • @marchlander1
    @marchlander1 9 лет назад

    Is it true that removing piston ring gives you more speed? I've spectated races before, made friend with one of the clubs. They said they always drive with one piston ring, but I did that on my other bike, that I don't have anymore and result was actualy opposite. Maybe pocket bikes are running differend? And awesome tips, btw.

    • @andriyskrinnik2758
      @andriyskrinnik2758  9 лет назад

      Thanks man, glad you like the tips. I never heard of ppl removing 1 of the rings. In removing the rings, you loose compression. The only possible gain is higher rpm (unless your top and bottom end are balanced for a lower rpm range) and less heat build, but with a major loss in torque. Only single speed devices would benefit, if at all.

      Reason people remove a ring is because they have a special piston with only one piston ring slot

    wouldn't polishing create more friction as there is more surface area in contact with the bore?

    • @russianpegs
      @russianpegs 8 лет назад

      polishing essentially flattens the microscopic peaks that create friction. more surface area means more evenly distributed pressure as well

  • @JohnBoy
    @JohnBoy 7 лет назад +3

    TIP- If you are going through all that work of porting to get the smoothest flow, Turn the head 180° to get the sparkplug pointing at the exhaust. This creates an uninterrupted combustion flow that makes a huge difference by itself.

  • @Willyoutake600

    why would he remove the carbon on the piston, it is basically free compression???

    • @Baldys_projects

      Not much really and not to good. If you want more compression then deck the bottom of the cylinder about 1mm.

    My dad and I a professional automobile mechanic and taking any metal off any part it weakens the parts and will lead to major problems, and if you sand the intake manifold it actually slows down air fuel mixture and it wouldn't built up "WATER DROPLETS " and if there is fuel droplets you just have your air fuel mixture way to rich.

    • @evelynlove650
      @evelynlove650 5 лет назад +5

      Cars are not 2 stroke, u want the intake ruf to help the atamization of the fuel, mainly keeps it at vapor state, cars use values and timing to open, as a 2stroke is always open ,

      Yeah you don't want to take any more metal off of a Ford 302 is barely any there to make it work as it is no heat dissipation. Once calcium builds up on the water ports heat dissipation like next to zero
