Hi Scott! First of all, thanks a lot for this helpful guide. You give very clear and important advices in a simple way. I want to ask if you usually work with the grids like in this video. And also, I've just found your channel and I loved it. Sorry if I've missed, but can you make a basic tutorial video on your process while creating a storyboard and design process on AI. I know it would be a thousand dollars course if you give every detail haha, but if you would give some basic principles and tips&tricks you use, that would be very helpful :)
Thanks mate! I pretty much always work with grids on, i'm just so used to it now and find it helps with alignment / composition a lot of the time. In terms of illustrator workflow, I'll usually just start designing a few style frames and bring those over to AE using Overlord. It's definitely not the best way to work, but for personal projects I find myself just getting lost in the motion sometimes and coming up with new ideas there. I would definitely try to plan as much as possible in Illustrator though as it will save lots of time in AE.
@@jirehla-ab1671 I’m not quite sure what you mean. You could use a rounded rectangle instead to create a circle and easily morph to a oblong shape. That’s right only AI files, as shape layers are automatically rasterised.
can you please put up your design process in a video? Like how you plan the colors and how you execute it. I guess many people including me get stuck in that phase😢
Nice! A question on design process: I see that the final look and feel was created in AE, but when you create your assets an Ai do you have some ideas about adding effects later (blurs, displacement, etc.)?
Most of the time I’ll have something in mind, just as I’m more comfortable doing that stuff in AE, and find it faster. However, story boarding is something I’m trying to improve on the most.
we need more breakdown contents like this. Love your work
This is the most helpful tutorial for someone who wants to start a motion graphic career.
I don't even use after effects, but this is hotta be the most clear and detailed breakdown I have seen, Great Job!
I hope it was somewhat useful haha, Thanks so much for watching!

@@motionbyscott & does rastering layers in after effects only works if the assets are svg or illustrator files ?

What can you tell me about motion school design courses, can you recomend it all ?
I personally wouldn’t know, sorry
Please help, in my After effects I move the playhead to a certain time, but when I click play it always restarts the video from scratch.
In your preview panel, there is a drop down menu to change where your comp will play from.
!! 真的牛逼!
Bouncy things: Bumpers! Similar to the way bumper cars are bouncy. 🙂
