    I would choose the Type S despite its shortcomings. I wish it were a bit faster, had more backseat room and had a touchscreen but none of those would deter me from getting it. It’s a beautiful car to me and I think I would thoroughly enjoy driving it as a daily.

      It is a great commuter car and marginal sport sedan. As long as you understand that it excels at nothing, then it seems like a decent purchase. Albeit overpriced at that point.

    • @MikeYurbasovich
      @MikeYurbasovich 8 дней назад

      @layne4376 no it destroys every car in it's class in cornering. You need an M3 to compete with it in cornering as it pulls 1.01g's on the skidpad. No other car in it's class corners like it, not the g70, the alfa quad, the m340i, it even beats dedicated sports cars like the camaro.

    • @layne4376
      @layne4376 8 дней назад

      @@MikeYurbasovich You seem...smart. You need to test cars with the same tires to make that sort of claim. But the reality is skidpad is only one factor in handling. Steering, transitional response, weight balance. This PIG of an Acura weighs within 200 lbs of an MDX, eats its brakes, gets schooled on Car and Driver's Lightning Lap, is more nose heavy than an Audi...and that is saying something. Having driven it I can attest that the M340 and G70 are VASTLY better balanced and handle way, way better. The car is a dud and Acura punted. It is slow, has terrible space to weight ratio, gets poor fuel mileage, and debuted at the back of the pack in performance. Think about that for a minute. 15 years and Acura still screws it up. And keep the M3 out of the same discussion with the Acura. It isn't even close.

    • @MikeYurbasovich
      @MikeYurbasovich 8 дней назад

      @layne4376 I think you're a paid troll. The G70 fell behind in that test you quoted, and the bimmer lost in the figure 8 where it couldn't use that 420hp. Plus, it's ugly, an off-brand, doesn't sound good, and it's sold by people who worked at Arby's before Hyundai picked them up.
      The bimmer beats them all in power, but every white lib has a 3 series here. You are clueless.

    Gents, absolutely fantastic! I can't recall another review that provided such an objective and insightful comparison. I used to own Honda/Acura for most of my life and then took a chance on a 2019 G70 3.3T - fell in love with it! I now have a 2023 G70 3.3T because the 2019 was so great. I now have a better appreciation for the other two cars as well. Thanks for that!

    Good discussion. I bought an Audi S5 Sportback because it has some edginess to the performance while still delivering a decent ride in comfort mode. I love the styling and the interior that still has real buttons and knobs. The back seat is decent for this class of cars which is important to me, and the hatchback is quite handy. The M340 is the undisputed top performance car. I wanted the B58 but the car is too hardcore for my tastes. Matt has the (better) pre-LCI interior with buttons instead of the current generation touch screens that I don't care for. Even though the TLX is beautiful, I eliminated it because of the push button shifter and horrible touch pad. Some people say you get used to it. I'm not spending this kind of money so I can tolerate a poor design (my opinion) every time I get into the car.

      Perfectly valid, but the reality is that within a couple of weeks, you’d literally no longer be aware of it. It would become muscle memory very quickly and then not even noticeable. That being said, definitely would say that the S5 isn’t a fantastic alternative.

      Drove my dads Rdx with the exact same system and it’s very easy, didn’t even take me longer then 15 minutes to figure out how it worked, my main dislikes with the tlx is the lower horsepower, and heavier weight, and lower mpg, other then that it’s THE best sport sedan (in my opinion of course) but even if this thing stayed same horsepower and weight, if it’s not gonna be incredibly fast then I should at least be getting high 25-30 mpg, I’ve heard story’s of people even getting 15-20mpg average and that’s too low for a car of this horse power and speed

    I own a 22 Type S... Like they said, ride quality is more luxurious as it does not beat you up as a daily driver. Suggestion for getting more performance, upgrade to a PRL intercooler and charge pipes for improved pedal response. Also by adding a PRL intercooler, the car runs 9 degrees cooler.(a BIG Deal)...Once my warranty is up I will upgrade to IMR's primary and secondary downpipes which turns this car into a totally different beast. Biggest PROS: Interior layout and my Tiger Eye Pearl exterior. Biggest CONS: Poor, poor MPG - come on Acura SHAME on you! Also, they cut corners on those BREMBO brakes - they should have installed cross drilled and or slotted rotors to handle those 4 Piston Brembos - at 12k miles my rotors had significant hot spots and had to be swapped. This is a common problem across many forums... Not cool for a $58K auto...

      I drive mine in a metro where I brake hard frequently, I'm at 32k without any issues. I was expecting brakes by now because Honda rotors were never very good, but these seem to be pretty good.

    I'd take G70 3.3T. It's just there's nothing like it out there. And you get so much more for your money. It's the only car out of all these that comes with 4 brembos. It looks very unique. While bmw looks like every bmw and tlx type S looks like every acura just slightly beefed up. The tlx type S has a nice aggressive front but over all to me it's just too long and not proportional. The bmw and G70 are true rwd sport sedans .

    Sounds like the Acura just needs a good TUNE that would push it over the limited bounds that it now holds. Money wise, it would still give that money in your pocket thing considering reliability, performance and luxury. Could be as you said, the happiest medium. I'd take one!!!

    The Tlx is only missing about 1.4 inches of legroom to stand against a 5 series. Less headroom is a given but the tlx does offer more front legroom at 42.4 vs the 5 series 41.4. Thinner seats would likely add into more legroom for the tlx.

    • @MikeYurbasovich
      @MikeYurbasovich 8 дней назад

      The legroom isn't the thing they make out of it. I have an Integra loaner right now while my tlx is in the shop that supposedly has more leg room, but it's a smaller car and I think they're about identical. The tlx is on a different level entirely.

    First off, all hail king M340i, there is no doubt about that. I drove the 2022 M340i before I drove, and ultimately bought, a 2022 RWD 3.3T G70. Cost aside, the M340i is better at everything but one fairly important thing. The M340i is NOT a better cruising luxury ride than a G70 because it is stiff even in the softest suspension setting. As awesome as the M340i is, when you just want to chill, which let's be real is the VAST majority of our driving, the G70 wins. And the G70 is still a little beast, especially when paddle shifting in sport + mode. One has to ask themselves, does all the M340i offer over the G70 really worth less comfortable cruising ride that cost significantly more with half the warranty? I did not find it to be so. As far as TLX Type S, you really have to see it in person to appreciate how it looks, but the rest, meh.

    • @knightmare4202

      M340I is worth it when the gas prices aren’t catching up to you or the yearly average maintenance costs compared to the G70

  • @layne4376
    @layne4376 Месяц назад

    I have driven all three and have an M340. By far, and I mean by far, the M340 is the only car that will suprise you with the performance. However, I agree that the steering on the G70 is superb and is the ideniable best buy amongst the three. The Acura is a weird car. Meh acceleration, understeers unless you slam the throttle down and even then, you are just barely balancing the weight out. It has poor tech in comparison. If you have the means, get the M340 and it will shock you at how good it is. If cash is an issue, get the G70 as it soundly trounces the Acura which is more money.
