Humbugs are a traditional hard boiled sweet available in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. They are usually flavored with peppermint and striped in two different colors (often black and white). Records of humbugs exist from as early as the 1820s and they are referred to in the 1863 book Sylvia's Lovers as being a food from the North.
Holmes at his dominating best.He has woken them up in the middle of the night, hasn't approved of Watson's sneezing, hasn't allowed Lestrade to smoke. And look at them both. 😀😀😀Why do they want to feed on humbugs at 2 am midnight in the middle of the case? Don't they know that according to Holmes faculties become more refined when you starve them ?
What makes thid funnier for myself is, that I'm from Germany and in German we have the word "Humbug" which most likely comes from these sweets (I guess). "Humbug" is usually used to express something really dumb or idiotic or something without any sense. In this case Holmes basically says that there's no time for that useless/idiot stuff.
i cant find the whole episode of six napaleons, does anyone know if its posted. its one of my favorites, its got lots of little golden bits in it, like this one :)
No sneezing, no smoking, no humbugs......poor boys ;D
