But stores will get all huffy and puffy if you quit on the spot instead of giving 2 weeks notice. This proves you owe your employer nothing, they don't care about you. She needs to file for unemployment ASAP.
Absolutely.
Server jobs are easy to find
That’s been the case for several generations now. Unfortunately “ It’s rough out there” is a wisdom that should be learned early on.
2 hours before shift...
That's just cold blooded
if you work at red lobster ? your Not a winner to begin with
Not a winner?? What if it’s some persons part time job while in nursing school , or law enforcement training or something like that. It’s a stepping stone but not a career, but doesn’t make them a loser if they use it as a tool to pay bills while working on something better behind the scenes.
They're blaming it on the endless shrimp but its a lie. Businesses don't offer a product they lose money on. Red Lobster was simply too expensive for what you got.
They were gutted. They owned their property and the equity firm sold it off to line their pockets and put the debt on red lobster and then bailed. Red lobster has to lease its own buildings it already paid for and the money they took went to no improvements. Worse the rate is really high so they have no capital to work with on a monthly basis for improvements.
"They" blaming is the private equity firm that is flooding the media with that bs, and they got you. "They" isn't red lobster. Take the red pill.
we are in a recession just havent been informed that its happening.
There’s no data to indicate that “we’re in a recession.” The economy is changing, especially since Covid. Plus bad executive decisions.
This has been coming for red lobster for a few years, surprised it wasn’t 2021
NOPE! It was purchased by a private equity firm for asset stripping. They sold their property, then made them pay rent to the people who bought it. CEO's pocketed all the real estate profits.
I quit going there years ago. The employees were acting as if it were an imposition to do their job well. Half were very sullen and rude. Yet I read where they want $15/hr. On top of tips. Arrogance , unskilled, cannot do simple math, don't check the accuracy of the bills present to the customers. Management was only interested in getting their bonus. Thus the demise of the restaurant and many other restaurants is their own fault. I am glad to see there is an industry "house cleaning". It is more than 25 years overdue
That's called 'bottom of the barrel' and it's not limited to Red Lobster. The vast majority of good workers already moved to greener pastures as they aged out of some of these industries. Don't expect it to get any better. If you want to know why it won't get better, go look at the US demographic pyramid and you'll understand why.
$15 an hour? What are you supposed to be able to buy with that? What's the point of them coming in????? You can make more than that while homeless
All of their boomer clientele are dying off.
YES!
EXACTLY!!!
This kind of stuff is why you never give a two weeks notice when you're going to quit. Your job won't give you notice. And not only will they not give you notice, but they will do everything they can to hide it from you and use you up as much as possible till the last second. Treat them as they will treat you.
That's exactly what happened at Bed Bath and Beyond. They swore only a few stores were closing...
Restaurants go broke overnight and sometimes they don't put signs
In this case however 'people' (news outlets) were saying that this was very likely imminent for a week or more.
The last time I went to a CO Red Lobster it had been taken over by an entirely new demographic that previously had not patronized these locations. It was a gluttonous/uncivilized/grubby/debris-strewn scene and I never returned.
Although I disagree with the way they left their employees hanging without notice, there are a couple of reasons businesses especially restaurants, close abruptly without telling their employees. First, they fear theft of their inventory of what they have left. For example, I actually knew an employee of RL several years back. He told me that it was not uncommon for a few not all, employees to help themselves to half a case of frozen lobster, crab, etc. and put it in their vehicles before their shift ended. Now tell 50 RL restaurants that they are closing in a week or two and their freezers would probably be emptied in a day. Sad, but true. The second reason is they fear that a disgruntled employee knowing he is going to be unemployed in a week or two, could possibly sabotage a customer's food because he's pissed. Now they would have a lawsuit on their hands. I know most waiters and waitresses are hard working and honest, but it's the one percent that cause restaurants to close abruptly without giving them notice.
Hey, good points
I never thought of this. Thanks for explaining it. I guess it definitely makes sense.
@@19andiaz Thank you. I actually had a manager that was in charge of a retail sporting goods store I met years ago tell me this. It makes sense to me, too.
well we have the right to steal their inventory and mess up a customers food when it's going to close
Why not just give the stock to the employees? The stores are closed, not gonna sell it.
Its been all over the place about red lobsters closing!
But please tell us how you didn't know!!
How weird!!
I was in the Philippines and even there I saw the news of Red Lobster locations closing in the U.S.
I didn’t know !! News flash no one did in our area
This happened to me in 1998. We had a meeting that morning, told we were closing the door, given severance pay or we could work at another location, but we wouldn't have the same hours .
I’m sorry to hear this. That’s one restaurant I liked ! It’s not personal, it’s something they had to do
Hope you got all you can eat in 2023 because in 2024 you can eat no more.
That’s just crazy and can’t blame the new gen for been cautiously in regards of their employer, work ethics, and complaints of treatment when they are ask for 2 weeks notice, but they are not given the same respect when the place of employment loses its doors. Best luck to everyone affected by this.
It was all over the news for a long time. If the employee at Red Lobster didn't know.... they are brain dead. It would of been talked about a lot between the staff...I would place a huge wager that every employee either talked about or heard that red lobster was shutting down for over a month.
This economy is great, JACK!
It is doing great and the stock market hit a record high on Wednesday. Facts magatard

😂 “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.’” You already know
I heard about red lobster closing in stores weeks ago.... How did these people not hear about it and they work there? And if you work in the restaurant industry, you should know your job can be cut at any given moment.... So don't act surprised....
How did they not hear about it? That's easy. Could be working two jobs. Or effectively two jobs - work, school. Where I live there aren't a lot of Red Lobsters so closing one is probably a different State or over 100 miles away and not considered local news. For decades Sears has been on life support, the people who work there have not spent every second of every decade fearing this second was the moment they were out of a job. That's bonkers, no one can work like that. People keep their head down, do the task they were hired to do.
Where is the $1.9 million in the CARES fund? It belongs to the employees for emergencies.
Oh I’m glad it was just one Employee and not the stores
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
If a company can do that, they shouldn't require their workers to give at least two weeks notice when they quit. And RL aren't the only ones who are passive aggressive. This happened to employees at Friendly's and Ruby Tuesday in my local area years ago when they closed down their locations.
No surprise to me. They shpuld have seen it coming.
They need to get over it and just find work elsewhere fast cause another job perhaps might hire them based on this circumstances
When has there been “notice” of layoffs? Even companies don’t know usually until last min as it harms the stock price.
They had been told in advance. They chose to ignore what they were told.
Not really as not all employees got the memo.
@@KevinPiland it has been on the news for the past month. Plenty of notice.
That like saying i didn't the weather was going to be bad today
They can never expect a 2 week notice from someone again lol. Pretty low blow from the higher ups. Pathetic
We just closed the north colorado springs location as of today!
There are plenty of jobs available, check your local Walmart, their turnover rate is ridiculous.
Glad I left Red Lobster and joined the Cheesecake factory. The Cheesecake factory will be here forever
Not in this economy 😂
Not under Biden.
@@ccun5224gorl Biden doesn't have nothing to do with this. Not every thing is an opportunity for you to brainwash yourself
In my State it is a food poisoning palace, imo. Salad bowls are warm. Dressing is warm. Old threadbare excuse place has been busy, when I'm one of the first customers! I was sick for 6 hours. No sympathy here.
I wouldn't eat at Red Lobster if they were giving away free meals.
You worked at one of the crappiest restuarants in the world. I knew people who worked at one of the best restuarants in the world and the owner decided to close it down and sell the land
Be more homeless people.every where
There are 29 other restaurants they can work at that are understaffed
There are plenty of places hiring. They'll be fine.
Sorry Guys America is Going BROKE
Last day of work being mothers day- thats dirty. Mothers day is the absolute worst day to work as a rr employee. Smh
They had warning. The state requires notice be given. It is called the WARN Act. Look it up
no the WARN act is completely different LOOK IT UP
There were signs …
health inspectors would wear
hazmat suits
And giant lobsters were dressed up and working as servers.
Stack your Sats and XRP folks

Would you rather them be bailed out? Let the market decide you conservaclown.

How could you not know the business you are a part of is not doing well? That hair-dye must’ve melted her self-awareness
In a "right to work" State? NO WAY..... Fun Fact. A buisness can make 100 million a year, but if they don't increase sales by 10% quarterly, they begin to liquidate. You can thank Stake/Shareholders. Buisnesses are obligated by law to produce profit for them by any means necessary. If they can't, they shut it down. No such thing as a stable buisness on the public market anymore.
How they did not know, and its all over the media platforms
Kept telling it's a rumor
@@dillongray8302 lol
That’s Bidenomics
It's capitalism - if you're bad at managing a restaurant, you eventually go bankrupt. Someone more competent will take your place.
there should be a law aginst this sort of thing. there should be a law to worn hard working people
This happened in NY as well with another chain Senator Schumer spoke about it a few years ago
Voting has consequences. It is insane to vote for the same people over and over again and expect things to magically change. Everyone really needs to remember all this and think long and hard about it when they vote this November!
Thank’s Joe!
lmao when you blame the president for literally everything

Welcome to reality. Have a seat.
Total misinformation! No recession and no “unprecedented” inflation; get your facts straight. The restaurant industry isn’t the most stable. There are plenty other jobs; that young lady will find another position elsewhere.
Oh NO! Where is MAGA going to eat? 🤣
I guess when your over a billion dollars in debt you feel like you don’t need to notify shit to anyone 😂our city had high turnover & bad customer service so it it won’t be missed but I was upset it was nationwide .
Who was the shrimp supplier $ Let’s open a new restaurant globally $ I loved the all you can eat/shrimp $ Gulf shrimp 🦐
