I was court ordered to 180 hrs community service 30 yrs ago
      I choose DPW... 'I couldn't believe what i was experiencing !!,
Supervisors 2 hrs late, walk in, bltch about the coffee maker, walk around the garage ...only to notify other ''workers'' he'll be back at 3,
he has to run some errands!
seemed like everyone did their grocery shopping ,
taking their kids to get hair cuts ,,,
Employee driving the city car dropping them off at mechanic shop picking up the wifes car!! ON THE CLOCK
      F-UK-N ! unbelievable !!
then the Bus driver shows up around 11am, '
drinking coffee with 4 other employees while we sit on stacked up barricades, from 7:30 till noon, then we get on the bus, and drive around doing errands with the bus driver
One of the GUYS TALKS HER INTO STOPPING AT THE L.I.Q.U.O.R STORE!!!
we picked up a half a bag of trash along a roadside 20 mins later bus honks and were on our way back too the shop, 180HRS... i worked less than 5hrs
I never got over that ...

This is what all city workers do . I live in Boston and if it weren’t for subcontractors hired by the city, nothing will get done. City workers do as little work as possible and are in a system that encourages it . Great pay for little to no work

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I'm 63 years old now. At 18 we had a huge snow storm. Toronto hired an extra helper for each truck clearing sidewalks of elderly/disabled. $8.00/hr! Min wage was $2.00! Hired for 3 days. 7AM start. Left yard 7:30. Went to a diner. 1 hour. First house. I hit that packed snow with a gusto! Snow came off in neat, packed sheets! Easy! Told to stop and use up salt on back of truck. Was actually MORE work with that method and I was concerned that possibly elderly would still be somewhat trapped for another day! Soon break time. One hour. Maybe 3 more houses. Lunch. Hour and 15 mins. More houses but this time the 'foreman' spent more time knocking on doors to see if elderly had a son or daughter capable of doing the snow. A game to him. Break. One hour. Couple of more houses. Back to yard. 2:15! I asked what should I do till 3 PM punch out time? Hang out in the bathroom where I found about 20 other guys like myself smoking and killing time. - All this was a defining moment in my life. I never worked in a union environment again! I was downright ashamed of taking that money!

Use to do construction projects. Same city supervisor over four years would do our inspections. One time I looked in the backseat of his City vehicle and saw a bunch of books. I thought to myself that was odd. Just happened to drive by at about 2 pm one afternoon nearby this city park and out of the corner of my eye I saw this same city inspector with his City vehicle parked under a tree. I did a 180 and came back around and drove by him very slowly. As I drove by he did not even notice me. His head was face down in a paper back book. For weeks I went by that same city park and there he was. So, this clown was taking the afternoon off to read novels on the taxpayers dime.

If you follow around the chief interviewed on this video secretly, I'll bet you will see him do an hour or hour and a half of actual work per day at most. This is why most government run offices are all failing. Look at the IRS. There are still millions that have not gotten a Stimulus Check from 2020 and we are in 2022. Yet, the super rich organizations can get things done for them instantly with one phone call. But, we the tax papers sometimes have to wait an eternity to get basic service. Here in New York City, we see city workers doing nothing all day too. They get paid between 25 to 35 dollars an hour to spend most of the day talking to their co-workers unsupervised or on their phones. There is no accountability in government.

  • @officepony6717

Just got to make sure that people don't mix this with the guys working on the road where you always SHOULD see at least one person just standing and looking around. That guy is there for a reason, he's the lookout should a potentially dangerous situation approach to warn other workers about said situation. Worked as a wire runner for a time and had this duty thrown at me when I was recovering from a minor injury. Believe me that that job sucks more than doing your actual job. It's boring as hell and hard to keep doing. Think of it like those palace guards who have to stick in one place, but easier because you can move and stuff, but ya still got to be paying attention all the effing time or you get called out for it by any passing big-wigs (mainly OSHA or management).
