I bought a mobile home in 2017 with a lot rent of $420. Today the lot rent is $850 and when I sell the next owner has to pay $1050. The lot rent has raised so high that I will have to sell my mobile home for a loss because nobody wants to pay that much for lot rent. Real Estate Investment Trusts are buying up mobile home parks and doubling the lot rents. It doesn't matter if you've lived their for years, you can be evicted in a short amount of time. I have lived in FL ten years now. It used to be a great vacation location but as a resident it has become incredibly divisive and styfiling. State politicians are far more interested in passing corrosive legislations which do not help any Floridian with insurance crisis, homeless, home prices, inflation and the worst medical fraud in the nation. Useless state governing is the result when you have the Governor and the majority of the same party. I am a Republican but I am a disgusted one at that.
Which part of the insurance crisis, home prices and inflation do you want a state legislature to tackle? Going against PRIVATE insurance companies and telling them you can only charge so much, what will they do? Insurance companies will pick up and leave. You cannot force them to stay. This is a national issue, has to be done a national level in order for it to be beneficial for everyone. Even with that, they are actually working on ways to help Floridians, a bill being drafted is to have your insurance premiums be pre-tax deductibles on your income, saving you a decent amount of money, its not perfect but its something they are wanting to help. Home prices, you expect the legislature to do what exactly with this? We live in a free economy, as demand goes up, so does the cost. Lastly, inflation, what do you expect the state legislature to do, inflation is a global problem and national problem, thank your old pal Biden for that. Homelessness... this problem is worsening and its a major national issue, instead of sending billions to other countries, we could easily solve this to help our people on a National level.

I moved to South Florida in 1983. Back then it was a paradise and everything was less expensive. Fast forward and just as this video says, prices for everything have exploded, plus Governor DeSantis is nuts. For those of you who dont know, he recently passed a bill that makes it illegal for people who work outside to get rest and water breaks. He should try working on a roof sometime. I had my fill of the summers getting hotter and lasting longer every year and dont forget the threat of hurricanes for 6 months of the year. I sold my house and moved back to the northeast. I had no idea how much I missed the change of seasons.
This is NOT accurate. He signed a law making it illegal for a municipal government to set their own laws regarding heat breaks employers have to follow, preventing each city/county having different laws. As much as I dislike Desantis I actually agree that would have been a complete nightmare. And I am liberal and work outside.

Cool story. Ever been to the northeast? They also charge you to drive on roads that were paid for decades ago, but also haven't been repaired in decades. I moved away from the NE to Miami, and I couldn't be happier. Yes the traffic is bad, but the traffic is horrible around NYC. At least in Miami, you get better weather.
I’ll tell you the real reason. Everything is EXPENSIVE. 2/1 homes starting at minimum $500k (at least in South FL) and the pay is horrible…you can have 10+ experience as an Electrician, Plumber, HVAC - you’re lucky if you make $20 an hour. EXTREMELY LUCKY…if you work in Corporate??? $16-19/hr…..who can afford a “starter” $500k home making $20/hr?! Who?!?!?!?!?! Whooooooooo?????!!!!! Everyone down here is just fed up
I figured as much from what I read about Florida in legitimate newspapers that report news. Texas is another draw that people are flocking to. Wait until they see what it's really like to live there. These two states are corporate havens., people's? Not so much
What is "in-migration" and "out-migration"? The English language already has words for these concepts, "immigration" and "emigration" respectively. A news organization should know better.
Ok thank you , because this is the first time in my life I hear " in" and "out" migration. Always knew it to be emigration and immigration. Feel like dumbing down our language using the other terms.
It's also about clarity and understanding. Both words sound very similar. Also, both words are more typically applied on a country-scale. Americans very rarely refer to other Americans as "immigrants."
Hard to believe that any politician would think that it’s more important to concentrate on a fight with Disney, LGBTQ and education rather than deal with astronomical increases in insurance and HOA rates.

DeSantis said during COVID, come to the free state of Florida. So what did they do? They came. They bought, at high prices, inflating the real estate market. Higher home prices, high insurance premiums follow. Higher real estate taxes. More congestion. Overcrowding. It was bad before they came down, but now it's worse. It has become very expensive to live in South Florida. I really feel bad for the young people, who won't be able to buy affordable housing. Crime levels increasing. Thanks, COVID.

Regretfully grew up here, got my freedom and moved my family away and came back like an idot! 🤦♀🤣 Top ten reasons I can't stand this state: 1. Crowded with bad drivers, it was bad 5, 10, 15, 25, etc. years ago, but it's getting outta control reminds me of a mini Dallas or a mini Atlanta! 2. The cost is ridiculous from food to having a roof over your head, I remember when you could buy food, pay bills and live like a king or a queen. I know everything has gone up everywhere, but it's outrageous here! The homeless population is growing faster. 3. Storms / Harricanes 4. Can't find insurance because all the companies are leaving in some form or another ( I was also an insurance agent as my 2nd job, I know firsthand the pain from both sides) trust me insurance agents can't always get to insure their stuff either! 5. PEOPLE ARE RUDE!!!! Back when I was a kid people would help each other a lot more and have respect for one another, heck people would even wave to strangers. NOT ANYMORE, not sure if it's because there are so many people not from here who have brought their ways with them and the attitude is spreading or what but it's so sad, it wasn't this bad 5 years ago, let alone 2! 6. Because of the cost of living getting out of hand I find myself relocating more than ever before, I come from a family who lived in a home for over 47 years, now I'm moving every 7 mos, to a years because of the cost. 7. Jobs pay terrible here, and it's incredibly hard to find a good job, always has been. That was the number one reason why we moved in the first place was for better opportunity. And I did really well getting promoted to ops management before my mother got sick, causing us to come back... 8. Low pay but high rent! I mean the math ain't mathing at all. These jobs are making plenty of profit from all the people moving here so why not pour back into their workforce? 9. It's impossible to find health care here let alone anyone who will take decent insurance even if it's from your job! I have a Dr appt for my mother for her cardiologist for JAN 2025!!! SMH 10. It's hard to make good decent friends here, the old friends have moved away. And to find one who will not backstab is hard to find depending on where you live. Many people are to worried about only themselves to have someone in their corner who will be there for them... It' 's really sad. 😔 If you're planning to move to FL you've been warned! I'm Planning my final escape from this place once and for all now, and I can't wait to be promoted somewhere else. It will always be home, but home has now just become a house or a motel 6!😭😭🤦♀🤦♀😔😔🤣🤣

I've lived in Florida my entire life, and I'm just twenty. I try to stay out of politics, but I feel that Florida's political dynamics have turned our state much more Republican demographically and culturally than it has been in the past. I feel it was a nice place to be for me personally, with all the fun theme parks and tons of beautiful beaches and nature, but it has undoubtedly gotten quite overcrowded with new and returning residents, especially now that our population is approximately 23 million. It's also very hot and humid for a majority of the year (I like to bike ride a lot there and feel most comfortable doing that in December or January) and this combination with the critters and insects that roam the state, has made it feel kind of gross for me. I remember there just being farms and other similar plots of land on a specific highway in a formerly-rural area near my house north of the Tampa Bay area just under ten years ago. Now, at the same location, there have been so many new subdivisions being built, nonstop, that it has become so unrecognizable. Also the cost of living has gone up too. Since then, I have decided I want to live somewhere near the Rocky Mountains when I'm older. Not the cheapest option but I love it there and I can actually breathe fresh air and not feel crammed.

Cost of living, bugs, alligators, rising home insurance prices, sea level rise, humidity, worsening effects of climate change/ intense hurricanes, insane political issues, etc... the list goes on. Nice to visit Disney, Miami and The Keys but Flordia has some major issues going on.
Its also a population thing. With a population of 22 million prices will be high. You go out west to Wyoming or a less populated state in general and the cost of living is drastically cheaper.
Having live in FL several times (my grandparents built a home there in the 80's) I questioned why northerners would think they could tolerate the heat, humidity and bugs. It's only gotten worse since the 80's. Can't blame FL for the rise in home insurance. The hurricanes have cost the insurance companies billions, so yep they are charging more. Car insurance is going up across the country due to theft so the companies spread the cost out across the country. If you don't punish the thieves, they're going to keep stealing, rates are going to keep rising. As for the politics... why would you move to a state who's politics aren't in line with your opinions?
@@MedoExpress 💯... I would only add one thing!
He didn't pass a bill that makes it illegal for people who work outside to get rest and water breaks. Didn't happen.
This is NOT accurate. He signed a law making it illegal for a municipal government to set their own laws regarding heat breaks employers have to follow, preventing each city/county having different laws. As much as I dislike Desantis I actually agree that would have been a complete nightmare. And I am liberal and work outside.
@@jeffc1347 There are so many people who can't wrap their head around the fact that DeSantis doesn't come up with the bills. Top ten reasons I can't stand this state:
3. Storms / Harricanes
SMH
10. It's hard to make good decent friends here, the old friends have moved away. And to find one who will not backstab is hard to find depending on where you live. Many people are to worried about only themselves to have someone in their corner who will be there for them... It' 's really sad. 😔
If you're planning to move to FL you've been warned! I'm Planning my final escape from this place once and for all now, and I can't wait to be promoted somewhere else. It will always be home, but home has now just become a house or a motel 6!😭😭🤦♀🤦♀😔😔🤣🤣

Here since 1966 . Grew up in Miami . WW2 dad retired with VA loan got a home in South Florida for $11,000 . Same home almost $500,000, taxes and home insurance for the elderly is crushing them . Fla Governor is the worse for Teachers , those who work in hospitals . Don't be old with health problems in Fl . Fl Governor has his hand in hospitals its bad . I can deal with the weather . Home insurance is nuts , car insurance is nuts . Every state has its pros and cons.
and how pray tell does he have his hand in hospitals? Our home insurance was 100 a month, car insurance 168 a month for two new vehicles. Prices in WV home owners 300 a month and up, car insurance 560 with NO accidents or tickets, slummy homes, high income taxes, D rated hospitals at best. Florida has top rated hospitals.
I love it when people say “pray tell” (@wvhillgal). It’s so classy.
Get your hurricane stuff now rookies.
I've been living in Miami for the past 6 years , best decision ever ! I got a better job , new girlfriend , new friends , and best of all ....a loving republican state !
Amen.
I remember watching Don Johnson on Miami Vice as a kid. Florida seemed SO cool. 🏖️
I remember South Beach as a kid in 1990. I remember thinking "where are all the Ferraris?"
How's the cost of insurance?
Good.
Everyone from NY, NJ, and Mich need to go back home
Florida's prices have risen dramatically and the ability to earn a living down here is not that good. The average person is in the food business and earning low pay, bad benefits, and no worker's rights. The education system is being run by the governor who has a strict pollical agenda outside of education.
Cost of living, bugs, alligators, rising home insurance prices, sea level rise, humidity, worsening effects of climate change/ intense hurricanes, insane political issues, etc... the list goes on. Nice to visit Disney, Miami and The Keys but Flordia has some major issues going on.
Everywhere does.
Half your list is madeup.
@@SOLDOZERyup! 20+ years here and ocean hasn't changed. Hurricanes hit the whole east coast. Disney? Miami?
@@DanielKelly-iu3dz I’m pretty sure he was talking about the climate change claim made above
@@SOLDOZERdenial
Its also a population thing. With a population of 22 million prices will be high. You go out west to Wyoming or a less populated state in general and the cost of living is drastically cheaper.
Love florida . Please feel free to leave ,
Having live in FL several times (my grandparents built a home there in the 80's) I questioned why northerners would think they could tolerate the heat, humidity and bugs.
That's just silly. It's not as if you couldn't check them out before you moved.
To avoid 'Buyers Remorse' think before you move.
A big thank you to TheMysticBohemian! ❤ A much needed voice of reason.
Bogus lawsuits have driven up the cost of homeowners insurance. Florida has more homeowners' lawsuits than the rest of the country combined.
They should move to New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Why did they move to Florida?
While everyone left NYC, i stayed, took your brand new furniture, and appliances you left on the sidewalk, then furnished my new $1600 2bdrm. I feel bad for people who migrated to Fl to find out they were possibly better off where they came from, ive lived there lol.
By all means stay in New York !!! We don’t want you here
I'm here in NYC.... where is there a 2 bedroom for $1,600.. ?
I used to work next to Trump Tower for years. You couldn't GIVE me a home in NYC now! I lived in SoFla for 5 years ago and haven't been back for 18 years. Now that my youngest is out of high school, I'm returning to Central Florida - for all of the right reasons!
NJ and NYC rear-viewed for good.
@@Floorguy1000 my place was in Astoria near the east river and Astoria Park.
@@Floorguy1000 a month to month rental. was there 3 years, never had my rent raised. If i go online ill find 2 brm for $2,000, not many but they exist. i know someone in the area that pays 1400 for a 1 bdrm.
Good leave!
Just say its the Hurricanes and home Insurance cost.
That dude was not a moderate Republican. That is for sure haha😅
What a sugary drama queen that dude is.
I'd say salty. OMG the trauma of the disney fights. LOL. And what is that gigantic moth that landed on his neck?
No way he was a moderate Republican
Dude is definitely left leaning
He's from Connecticut what do you expect, good riddance
If so many people flood a state , of course prices are going to skyrocket. What planet are these people from??
Planet of lets be reasonable
Pure gas lighting story. Wonder how far they had to look to find people to put on camera to say they were leaving because of the politics. The number one reason, by far why people would leave is the high cost of a home and the insurance! The influx of people are coming FOR the political climate and the no state income tax.
Move to beautiful California!! We have everything here. Mountains, Beaches, closer to Las Vegas NV and so much more!.
This is BS. These people were cherry picked. The vast majority that have made the move do not regret it.
Lived there for 26 years, saw the writing on the wall and left in 2017. I do miss the beach but I can live pretty well back up north.
"So many political issues in Florida."
Not trying to bust balls here, but isn't all that happeneing in all of the states right now??
He left florida cuz not enough trans people. Hes an 80 yr old white dude talking about LGBTQ. Hes a weirdo
Florida is especially crazy.
@@kitskivich nope. New York is bro. Research it.
@@kitskivich plus, other states like Arizona and all that have it too. That's why I say all of the states, especially New York.
@@Jurian2004 No, Florida is embarrassingly bad.
Yes! Please leave! And take all the New Yorkers back with you too!
👏🏼 Please do more stories like this. We would like our Florida back. We welcome people leaving due to politics that they don’t agree with. Be glad you have a free country to do that.
Must be really nice to just pick up and move like that..... most of us can't.
Love this Gov. And the state
Over the past year, the East South Central region, encompassing Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee, recorded the highest annual increase in consumer prices (4.2%); the neighboring South Atlantic region’s four states recorded the second-highest increase (3.9%). The West North Central region - including the seven midwestern states - recorded an annual CPI increase of 3.8% since compared to last October. On the other hand, the New England region’s six states collectively recorded a 2% increase in their CPI over the past year.
I left because its borning NYC is never boring

Been there. I see absolutely no reason to go back.
Go on now .. get .. We are full 😅😅
Hmm! Maybe I'll move to California.
Um it’s the same in every state. It’s not Florida it’s our leader
I’ve always said places are cheap because it’s not very popular.
As a place becomes “hot” it becomes more expensive. Just normal economy. Atlanta was cheap 10 yrs ago. Still cheaper than NY, CA etc.
keep printing money and cost of everything, all over the country, will go up.
Let’s talk about all the people moving to New York and California sometime?
nobody, hahahahahahahahahahahahaha !!!
